Chapter220
“And if I refuse?”
Maureen countered.
Tyler smiled gently, though his eyes turned cold: “I recall your courtroom admission of adultery. If you doubt my capabilities, ask Katherine.
She knows exactly what I can do. I could easily land you jail time for bigamy.
Would you really want to spend years behind bars after giving birth?”
As they spoke, a stretch limo was pulling up toward them.
Tyler glanced back at the luxury car and saw Wayne stepping out, trailed by bodyguards and
servants.
He said nothing more, got in his car, and drove off.
Mrs. Ingram shuffled out at the commotion, squinting at the group. “Who’re they?”
Maureen worried she’d catch a chill.
“Mrs. Ingram, go rest inside. I’ll explain later.”
“Okay.”
Nodding, the housekeeper hunched her back and shuffled toward her room.
Only after bolting the front gate did Maureen approach Wayne’s entourage.
Wayne strode forward, his eyes widening at the dilapidated house. He felt a pang of anxiety for his boss.
Mr. Sutton had been pampered since childhood–how could he possibly live here?
Maureen scanned the group, her expression hardening when she spotted no sign of Geoffrey. “Wayne, what’s this about?”
“Mrs. Potter sent me to deliver all Mr. Sutton’s belongings.”

Wayne replied.
So Tyler was right. Heather really intended to force her to care for Geoffrey–with legal threats if she refused.
Maureen’s voice turned icy. “Where’s Geoffrey?”
“Mr. Sutton will arrive shortly.”
Wayne signaled his team to start unloading.
“Wait!”
Maureen blocked their path. “Geoffrey can’t stay here!”
Wayne looked troubled: “The lady said if you don’t let Mr. Sutton come stay, then please return to Pearl to care for him.”
“If you refuse to agree, presumably Tyler made it very clear, didn’t he?”
Pregnancy won’t land you in jail, but after giving birth, you’ll still have to go.
Maureen’s hanging hand clenched tightly, too furious to know what to do.
Wayne also felt this was unfair to her.
“Ms. Ramirez, no–I should call you madam. Madam, please look after Mr. Sutton.”
“These days he’s been staying alone at Pearl, letting no one near him. Who knows how many injuries he’s suffered.”
“You don’t know–Mr. Sutton’s regretted it for ages. He likes you. He bought back the Ramirez Family’s old residence and rebuilt the former Ramirez Mansion. It’ll be completed soon…”
This was the first time Maureen heard someone from Geoffrey’s circle call her Mrs. Sutton.
She smiled bitterly: “Wayne.”
“I think you people are truly cruel. After all these years married to him, I only become the Sutton Family’s daughter–in–law when he’s in trouble. Only when he went blind did others call me Mrs. Sutton.‘
“I’ve stopped loving him, yet you tell me he likes me now.‘
“How would you feel in my place?”

Wayne stood speechless.
In the biting wind,
Maureen wore thick winter clothes yet appeared heartbreakingly frail.
Snow drifted down onto her shoulders, and she had no choice but to give in:
“Geoffrey can come if he wants, but this is my home, not his. None of these things are allowed to be brought.”
Back when she married into the Sutton Family, her personal belongings fit in just one
suitcase.
Because Geoffrey had said the exact same thing back then.
Pearl was his home, and Maureen’s things were not allowed to be brought.
In the end, Maureen only took a few essential pieces of clothing.
“But…” Wayne looked at the somewhat shabby Old Cabin and was about to argue, Maureen cut him off.
“If the Sutton Family looks down on this place, then Mr. Sutton can go back.”
but
With things put so bluntly, Wayne had to compromise, only taking clothes, shoes, and daily necessities.
Wayne intended to carry them inside, but Maureen took them from him.
“Give them to me. Since you’re asking me to take care of him, from now on, no one else is allowed to enter my home at will, except him.”
“Okay.”
If Maureen hadn’t stopped him, Wayne would have hired a renovation team.
“When will he arrive?” Maureen asked.
“Ten at night, and there are still more than four Reenies.”
After sending Wayne and the entourage of bodyguards and servants away, Maureen returned to her room.
Today Ethan had been admitted to the hospital per Maureen’s arrangement, while Jacob was

still reading in the children’s room.
Her most urgent matter now was how to tell Jacob that Geoffrey would be moving in.
Maureen first went to Zoe’s room and recounted everything that had just happened.
After listening. Zoe gently held Maureen’s hand: “You already have to care for me and two children all by yourself. How can you possibly look after him too?
The Suttons have no shame.”
Zoe used to think rich families were at least more generous than ordinary folks like them.
