Chapter221
But now she realized the old saying rang true: the wealthier people are, the stingier they become, and the less willing they are to lose out.
“I won’t be taking care of Geoffrey. When he comes, he’ll handle everything himself.”
After speaking, Maureen shared her deeper concern: “Jacob and Ethan still don’t know about their parentage. If Geoffrey moves in, I don’t know how to explain it to them.”
“Ethan has met Geoffrey before and might be easier to fob off, especially since he’s hospitalized now. But Jacob’s more mature than other kids his age–I’m afraid he’ll figure things out.”
Hearing this, Zoe also felt at a loss.
The Sutton Family devours people without spitting out the bones. If they discover Jacob and Ethan are Sutton blood, they’ll snatch both kids away.
Just then, Katherine called. Maureen answered first.
Katherine asked, “Reenie, can I borrow Jacob again for a while?”
“Borrow?”
Maureen found it odd.
“You know Tyler’s back. His fiancee came too. They’re getting married. He even sent me a wedding invitation.”
Katherine took a deep breath. “Can you believe the nerve?
I want to bring Jacob to the wedding in a few days.”
With that unbelievable child prodigy around, he’d surely infuriate that jerk.
Maureen happened to be unsure how to tell Jacob about Geoffrey, so she agreed. She also mentioned Geoffrey moving in temporarily.
“How dare the Suttons dump a blind man on you?”

“Don’t worry. He won’t stay long.”
Maureen had an idea.
“I’ll come get Jacob now. Actually, 1-”
Time was running short.
“Fine. I’ll drive him halfway. Meet us en route.‘
“Got it.”
After settling plans, Maureen immediately informed Zoe, then rushed to pack Jacob’s belongings.
While reading in the study, Jacob had already witnessed the day’s events through the window.
He obediently stood still, not questioning Maureen about why she was sending him to Katherine’s House.
“Mommy, please take good care of yourself and Grandma while I’m gone.”
“Okay, I will.”
Maureen hugged him tightly, her heart aching.
Halfway through the drive, they encountered Katherine. Jacob transferred into Katherine’s
car.
Throughout the ride, melancholy clouded Katherine’s eyes.
“Aunt Katherine, did you get your heart broken?”
Jacob inquired.
Katherine froze. “Impossible. I’m not even dating anyone.”
“If you’re sad, just let it out.”
Jacob advised with the wisdom of an old soul.
For some reason, those words shattered Katherine’s composure.
“Jacob, will you grow up to be a heartbreaker?”

“Not sure. But even if I turn bad, I’ll still look after you and Mommy.”
Jacob said gently
The corners of Katherine’s eyes instantly reddened.
“Hmph! Talking so sweet at your age? You’ll definitely be a heartbreaker later.”
Jacob lifted his small hand to hold hers.
“Aunt Katherine, you’ll find someone who treasures you. If not, Mommy and I will always cherish you.”
After saying that, he added, “Thank you for always helping me and my mom. If you ever need my help, I will definitely help you.”
Katherine, upon hearing this, rubbed her slightly reddened eyes and immediately brightened
“Don’t regret what you said.”
Jacob suddenly felt that this woman seemed to be after this very sentence?
Maureen returned home past nine in the evening.
She cleared out the storage room for Geoffrey, crude but with its own bathroom to avoid disturbing her and Zoe.
10 PM.
A Maybach pulled up precisely before the house.
Geoffrey sat rigidly in the backseat, obsidian eyes utterly still.
The driver stepped out, standing by the window. “We’ve arrived, Mr. Sutton. Shall I fetch Mrs. Sutton?”
Per Geoffrey’s orders, only the chauffeur had come.
Geoffrey recalled his vow at the courthouse: never to impose on Maureen again.
“Lead the way.‘
He exited the car.

To any observer, he moved like any able–bodied man.
“Of course.”
The driver cautiously extended a hand, but Geoffrey brushed it aside. “Just direct me.”
He despised strangers‘ touch, loathed feeling like a useless cripple needing assistance to walk.
“Understood.”
Following verbal cues, Geoffrey strode steadily to the door.
The driver expected Maureen waiting, yet found it shut tight. Knuckles rapped the wood reluctantly.
Only then did Maureen answer the knocking.
A chill swept in from the door, she instinctively pulled her coat tighter, didn’t even glance at Geoffrey, and said coolly, “Come in.”
Jason Perez watched his boss enter the room, but didn’t feel it right to follow.
But as soon as he left, he heard a crash.
He glanced back inside and saw that Ms. Ramirez didn’t care about Mr. Sutton at all, letting him follow behind and bump into the sofa.
He thought about telling Maureen something, but felt it was meddling, since they were husband and wife.
Back in the car, Jason sighed and mused, “Never offend the wife, no matter who else you upset.”
