Heather waited at the door, lips curled: “Told you she’d be useless.”
Andrea didn’t feel comfortable seeking out Heather and left unwillingly.
Geoffrey had sent her to the asylum, but the wealth she’d accumulated during her celebrity days remained.
As soon as Andrea got out, she contacted her assistant to pick her up.
The moment she stepped into the car, Andrea silently swore she’d make Maureen pay.
“Maureen, just wait. I’ll give you a surprise soon.“,
Small Town.
After renovating Zoe’s old house, Maureen brought her and the two children back here. Many neighbors had moved away, leaving the place feeling especially desolate.
Lately, Zoe spent more time awake than asleep, but whenever conscious, she’d compulsively do chores.
However much her body ached, she still insisted on cooking meals herself for Maureen and the kids.
She knew once she died, even fewer people in this world would care about Maureen.
The children watched TV in the living room. Just as Zoe and Maureen brought out the freshly boiled dumplings, a news report aired:
“Corporate Headquarters will hold a shareholders‘ meeting tomorrow to re–elect leadership.”
Zoe wiped her hands, her teary eyes fixed on the screen as the anchor announced Geoffrey wouldn’t attend.
“Life’s truly unpredictable.”

Maureen couldn’t believe it either. Corporate Giant was built by Geoffrey from scratch, yet now he couldn’t even attend shareholder meetings.
Flipping channels to avoid the kids seeing divorce news about her and Geoffrey, Maureen settled on another station.
Karaville.
Heather knew Corporate Giant would soon fall into others‘ hands, powerless to stop it.
Calling her husband, Roger stated: “Since Geoff’s gone blind, he should step down for someone more capable.”
Heather refused to let her son’s life’s work be handed to outsiders.
Just then, her phone rang.
Glancing at the screen, she saw Alex’s name.
“Mom, the surgery went perfectly. I’m coming home today.”
That warm, mellow voice sparked an idea. Lowering her tone, Heather pleaded: “Alex, could you do Mom a favor?”
In his hospital bed just out of surgery, Alex’s gentle eyes instantly turned icy cold.
He didn’t ask for details, simply replying: “Sure.”
Heather knew Alex would listen to her.
She sat in the car, looking at Geoffrey living inside Pearl, and asked Tyler, “Tyler, you handled Geoff’s lawsuit before, right?”
Because Geoffrey refused to follow her arrangements, marry into another family, or accept Andrea.
Heather worried him staying alone at Pearl would cause trouble eventually.
So she found Tyler, who’d handled Geoffrey’s divorce case, to ask about the situation.
“Yes.”
Tyler replied.
“I want to ask, given Geoff’s current state, does my daughter–in–law Maureen have any duty

or responsibility to care for him?”
Heather’s words carried hidden meaning.
Tyler was sharp and caught her implication.
“Of course.
He paused, “If needed, I can draft a lawsuit agreement for Mr. Sutton to have Maureen care for him.”
Heather’s lips curved slightly: “Good. I want Maureen to get the legal notice today. Can you do it?”
“Of course.”
Heather felt pleased with him and handed over her business card.
“Tyler, I’m inviting you to Corporate Giant.”
Tyler didn’t take the card, smiling insincerely: “Thanks, but no.”
Heather didn’t mind–her goal was achieved anyway.
Stepping out of the car, Heather walked into the villa.
Geoffrey sat in the study, hoping to review his past work records. But apart from playing audio files on his phone, he couldn’t read any documents.
Heather watched her once brilliant son reduced to this state, her heart aching with bitterness.
Yet she had to be ruthless.
“Geoff,” she began, “Mom needs to talk with you.
Geoffrey closed the documents. “What is it?”
“1
“I forgot to tell you–Maureen is two months pregnant.”
His chest tightened.
“You’re her husband. Like the old saying goes, lovers‘ quarrels are soon mended. Whatever happened between you before, you should be with her now.”
Heather knew he’d agreed to divorce Maureen only because he was blind and unaware of her

pregnancy
She continued firmly:
“A real man cares for his wife and child. You’re my son–even blind, you’d never accomplish nothing.”
“I’ll send you to Maureen’s place shortly. Show her affection, and she’ll come around.”
Geoffrey’s fist clenched.
He was blind. Even unwilling, Heather could force him to go.
Alex hadn’t even reached Small Town when Maureen received a lawyer’s letter.
Tyler personally came to warn her: “Ms. Ramirez, according to Article 1059 of the Civil Code, spouses have a duty to support each other.
Mr. Sutton is now blind from the car accident and needs care. If you neglect this duty, I’ll file a lawsuit on his behalf.”
Maureen clenched the letter in her hand.
“Did Geoffrey send you?”
Tyler answered truthfully: “No, it was Heather.
She hopes you’ll properly care for Geoffrey and fulfill your duties as a wife.”
