Chapter 151
She didn’t believe Geoffrey would take care of someone else’s child for no reason.
Geoffrey pulled out a chair and sat down.
“This matter doesn’t concern you.”
Heather’s eyes instantly reddened: “What do you mean it doesn’t concern me?
Mom wants a grandson, or even a granddaughter!”
“If you really have the same problem as your brother, Mom is willing to let you adopt.”
At the mention of his brother, Geoffrey’s expression instantly turned cold.
Upstairs, when Maureen came out, she also heard Heather’s words and couldn’t help but be surprised.
Geoffrey actually had a brother?
Why didn’t she know?
Heather sensed Geoffrey’s displeasure and dared not speak further. Rising to her feet, she said, “I’ll leave now. Please don’t disappoint Mother.
Shortly after she departed, Geoffrey looked up as Maureen emerged from the shadows.
Unbidden thoughts of their unborn child surfaced in his mind.
“Come here.”
Maureen remained rooted to the spot, making no move toward him.
Seeing her icy detachment, Geoffrey felt a pang in his chest.
Finally, he stood and approached her. “Change your clothes. We’re going out.
“Where?”
“You always said you wanted to see the ocean.”

Maureen hadn’t expected him to remember.
“I’ve seen the ocean already.”
Her seaside residence abroad had offered daily views.
Geoffrey paused, considering. “Then we’ll see cherry blossoms.”
He recalled her constant chatter about visiting Tokyo before their marriage. Yet in three years. as his wife, she’d traveled nowhere except to find him overseas.
Maureen glanced through the window. “It’s autumn now. No cherry blossoms.”
The room was deathly quiet.
Geoffrey suddenly realized that beyond knowing Maureen liked flowers, wanted to visit her hometown, and dreamed of Tokyo, he couldn’t think of anything else she desired…
Maureen sensed his discomfort and said breezily:
“Didn’t we agree?
We wouldn’t pretend to be husband and wife anymore?”
Geoffrey’s voice slightly choked: “Agreed?
That was your decision alone.”
Her decision alone…
If everything required mutual consent, what did his solo meeting with Andrea count as?
Maureen’s lips pressed into a bloodless line: “Fine. Nineteen days left. Hope you’ll keep your word.”
“I’ll cook.”
She turned toward the kitchen
Geoffrey’s chest tightened further
He strode forward: “I’ll do it.”
Maureen froze. By the time she processed his words, Geoffrey was already in the kitchen.

Seeing the man in his high–end tailored suit standing there looked particularly out of place.
Since he insisted, Maureen couldn’t be bothered to argue.
She figured Geoffrey would revert to his old ways soon enough–then she’d leave guilt–free.
Geoffrey excelled at work but stumbled in the kitchen.
Breakfast took him over an hour to finish.
“If it’s not good, we can order delivery.”
Geoffrey said as he sat down.
Maureen stared at the bland porridge and slightly burnt eggs, feeling puzzled. She remembered the seafood porridge last time that was barely edible. Andrea’s Instagram post flashed in her mind–Geoffrey preparing a whole table of delicious dishes…
“You don’t know how to cook?”
She blurted out.
Geoffrey’s expression stiffened: “Of course I do.”
The man raised an eyebrow, discarded the burnt portion of egg from his own bowl, and
handed it to Maureen.
“Eat this.”
She watched as he took her bowl, swapped the eggs, then methodically trimmed the imperfect edges.
Noticing her gaze, Geoffrey explained: “Just out of practice.”
Cooking? Impossible. He’d barely set foot in a kitchen since childhood.
Maureen didn’t press further, lowering her head to sip the porridge. Before it reached her lips, Geoffrey’s hand shot out.
“Don’t eat it. It’s cold.”
“I’ll have breakfast delivered.”
He’d just tasted it–realized he’d mistaken salt for sugar.

Before Maureen could react, Geoffrey dumped the entire bowl into the trash.
He walked outside to call for breakfast delivery.
Regret washed over him. Why hadn’t he just ordered from the start? Wasted the whole morning.
Maureen walked into the living room, gazing at Geoffrey outside the floor–to–ceiling window, sensing something unusually off about him.
Outside, leaves drifted down in flurries.
As Geoffrey turned around, his eyes met Maureen’s clear gaze.
His Adam’s apple bobbed slightly. After a moment’s thought, he told Wayne, “Make arrangements for what we discussed earlier.”
Wayne couldn’t believe his ears. “Sir, are you seriously planning to return everything to Maureen?”
“Mhm.”
“Sir, when you took over the Ramirez Family, it was on the brink of bankruptcy.
Now all their assets and original companies have merged with our conglomerate. They’re thriving–worth far more than before.”
Wayne maintained his clarity, reminding his boss.
Geoffrey remained unmoved. “Just do as I say.”
“If you’ve developed genuine feelings for Ms. Ramirez, there are other ways to-”
Wayne’s words were cut off by Geoffrey.
“Who said anything about feelings?
I just want to see what she really wants.
Wayne wasn’t foolish. His boss was clearly being stubborn–since when did people test others like this?
