He was curious–what magic did this Maureen possess?
How could she make a cold–blooded man like Gareth fall for
her?
The key question was, even if he liked her, would Geoffrey ever allow it?
In his view, if a woman was yours, even if you discarded her, you wouldn’t share her with another man.
“Alright, enough talk.”
Knowing Lawrence would only say things he didn’t want to hear, Gareth hung up.
Ever since he’d met Maureen again five years ago, he’d decided this time he would protect her properly and stay by
her side.
Sutton Group.
When Maureen returned to her office, Geoffrey was already
back.
Inside with Geoffrey sat Andrea.
Dressed to the nines on the sofa, anger burned in her eyes.
Two days ago, she’d told Frank to deal with Maureen, but that

useless man claimed bodyguards surrounded her, making it impossible to get close.
Now the online scandal was exploding, and her reputation was ruined.
Andrea had also tried to investigate Maureen’s background abroad, but it seemed deliberately erased–she found nothing.
The more elusive it was, the more terrified she became, fearing Maureen would steal Geoffrey back.
Seeing Maureen return, Andrea stood up, addressing Geoffrey with pitiful eyes: “Geoffrey, I should go.”
As she left, she gave Maureen a meaningful look.
Maureen puzzled over that glance when Geoffrey’s dark eyes studied her newly changed clothes before she reached her
desk.
“Have your friend drop the lawsuit,”
Geoffrey stated.
Only then did Maureen realize Andrea had turned to Geoffrey after failing to resolve things herself.
“Why?
She stole others‘ work, yet demands the victim withdraw the claim?”
She couldn’t fathom how Geoffrey could disregard justice for
a woman’s sake.
“Andrea’s case affects not just her, but Sutton Group’s

subsidiary, Entertainment Agency.”

“Besides, international lawsuits drag on–no point wasting time
and energy,”
Geoffrey said frankly.
Maureen let out a bitter laugh.
He truly spared no effort for Andrea.
“My friend insists she’ll pursue this–she wants the plagiarist to pay, regardless of cost!”
“As for Entertainment Agency condoning plagiarism by artists, isn’t it equally guilty?
Mr. Sutton, you’re being a bit too selfish.”
After Maureen finished speaking, she grabbed her bag from the workstation and walked out under Geoffrey’s stunned
gaze.
Geoffrey watched the woman’s retreating figure, lingering on her words, unable to snap back to reality.
Was this Maureen?
His wife who always tolerated others?
For some reason, being challenged by her didn’t anger Geoffrey at all.
Instead, he gained new respect for Maureen–he’d underestimated this wife before.
Wayne noticed the situation and knocked before entering.

“Mr. Sutton.”
Geoffrey shot him a cold look. “What?”

“Entertainment Agency’s stock keeps dropping because of Andrea’s scandal. Should Media Division handle it, or send
our PR?”
Since Geoffrey had ordered no further involvement in Andrea’s affairs,
Wayne didn’t dare decide alone.
Geoffrey rubbed his temples. “Investigate someone for me. A music teacher from Estonia–a composer.”
Wayne assumed this was damage control for Andrea and nodded.
“Yes.”
Having previously obtained Maureen’s info through
unconventional channels, Wayne now had a lead. He made an
overseas call.
Two hours later, news arrived.
“This music teacher’s internationally renowned. Composed for many famous singers.”
Wayne paused, then added: “Our people found out that she is actually Ms. Ramirez.”
“Maureen?”
Geoffrey’s eyes tightened.

Andrea hadn’t uncovered the news, but Wayne learned it through special means and nodded.
Hearing this, Geoffrey looked surprised.
No wonder Maureen was so angry earlier; that song was hers.
Then he became more curious about Maureen’s experiences abroad over the years.
What else about her hadn’t he uncovered?
“Besides me, no one else should know about this, understand?”
Geoffrey instructed Wayne again.
“Yes.”
As Wayne was about to leave, he asked Geoffrey: “What about Andrea’s matter?”
“No PR.”
Geoffrey replied.
He could afford to lose one Media Division.
Wayne didn’t quite understand why Geoffrey made such a decision.
He had followed Geoffrey for so many years, knowing he never did unprofitable business.
“But this way, our company’s reputation will also suffer.”
Geoffrey flipped through the files: “Andrea should bear the

consequences she caused.”
“If she can’t handle being a star, she shouldn’t do it.”
Meaning cutting losses to save the bigger picture.
Geoffrey was speaking frankly.
Over the years, he had done enough for Andrea.
But she still wasn’t satisfied and wanted to marry him.

He quickly finished reviewing the documents at hand, then stood up, ready to return to Pearl.
After leaving the company, Maureen got into her car and instructed the driver to take her home.
Not long after the car started moving, she vaguely felt another vehicle trailing her. But when she glanced back, she saw nothing.
Justin had recently gone back to his hometown for personal matters, and Geoffrey’s bodyguards no longer seemed to shadow her every move.
