Chapter 9 The Teasing Little Vixen
Candice got home, still in a bad mood, until her phone rang.
She picked it up and looked.
It was a video call from Yasmin!
She quickly composed herself and answered.
Soon, a little girl's face appeared on the screen.
Her chubby little face looked like a doll's, incredibly delicate, with big, round eyes. She was wearing pajamas with a bunny pattern, looking especially well-behaved and adorably soft.
Yasmin was clearly sleepy, rubbing her eyes with her little hand, and asked in a sweet childlike voice, "Mommy, why didn't you call to say goodnight tonight?"
Her expression looked a bit hurt.
After seeing this, Candice felt all her bad feelings melt away.
She quickly apologized to Yasmin, "Sorry, Yasmin. I was going to call you right after surgery, but then I went to meet a client to talk about buying herbs, so I got held up. I just got home now."
Hearing how hard she'd been working, Yasmin's little bit of hurt feelings disappeared.
In her soft, sweet little voice, she said to Candice, "It's okay, Mommy worked so hard!"
Candice smiled, "It's not hard. How could making money for our Yasmin to spend be hard?"
Coaxed like this, Yasmin immediately smiled sweetly and said, "When I grow up, I'll make money for Mommy to spend too!"
"Sounds good. Then you need to eat more every day so you can grow up faster."
After the mother and daughter chatted sweetly for a while, Candice's mood finally completely settled down.
She and Brandon probably wouldn't have any more contact in the future, so what happened tonight - she'd just consider it bad luck!
After thinking this through, Candice went to wash up and rest.
Brandon had also returned home by now.
When he came in, Elijah wasn't asleep yet. He was holding his laptop, his fingers flying across the keyboard.
On the screen in front of him, Candice's information was already displayed.
Finally found out where she was!
Elijah's eyes were sparkling.
However, when he saw Brandon, he quickly closed the webpage and greeted him, "Dad, you're back?"
Brandon noticed Elijah's movement and asked in a somewhat stern tone, "It's so late and you're not sleeping - playing games?"
Elijah calmly replied, "Of course not. I was just looking up some information. I'm going to sleep now."
With that, he closed the laptop, slid down from the sofa, and said to Brandon with a composed expression, "Good night, Dad!"
Brandon was unbuttoning his shirt.
Hearing this, he glanced down at him and responded flatly, "Good night."
He had unbuttoned two buttons, his collar somewhat open, naturally revealing the bite mark on his collarbone.
Elijah, passing in front of him, immediately stopped in his tracks. His sharp eyes stared intently at that spot, his little brows furrowed tight.
Seeing him stop, Brandon asked, "What's wrong?"
Elijah looked very unhappy. Pointing at the bite mark on his collarbone, he asked, "Did you go out and mess around with another woman again?"
Brandon was caught off guard by this comment.
What did he mean by 'mess around with another woman again'?
Brandon bent down, reached out to pinch Elijah's soft cheeks, and said, "What nonsense are you talking about? I went to talk business."
Elijah said coldly, "Well, you're pretty impressive then, talking business and coming back with a bite mark. Do you adults need to bite each other when doing business now?"
Brandon's expression stiffened. He instinctively pulled his collar up and said, "No, this was from a little fox."
Elijah wasn't going to be fooled that easily.
He gave a cold laugh and said, "Oh, really? A little vixen, is that it?"
That expression clearly showed he didn't believe it.
Knox, listening to the father and son's conversation nearby, was having a hard time holding back his laughter.
Wasn't it indeed a little vixen?
Although he hadn't witnessed the process.
He could still guess how that bite mark came about.
He just hadn't expected Brandon and Candice to be so intense at their first meeting!
First, a hotel room, now a bite mark.
Brandon didn't know Knox's thoughts had run wild, but he was left speechless by Elijah's words.
After all, Candice, the culprit, did indeed have the qualities of a 'vixen'.
Not just her beauty!
After being kissed, her hazy eyes and charming expression were truly captivating.
No different from a little vixen who knew how to seduce men!
But he definitely couldn't say this to Elijah.
Brandon just randomly ruffled Elijah's hair and said, "Adult matters - kids shouldn't worry about them. Go to sleep."
Elijah's hair was all messed up, with strands sticking up everywhere. He was furious.
He said angrily, "I can't control what you do, Dad, but I've said before - if you want to find someone to be my stepmother, unless I agree, otherwise I'll run away from home and never come back!"
With that, he huffed off to his room!
Brandon stood there, frowning, his head starting to ache again.
This Elijah, so young yet so temperamental, he could get angry more than three times a day!
Looks like in the future, he'd need to tell the family elders to stop spoiling Elijah so much.
He was completely spoiled.
Upstairs, after Elijah returned to his room, he was still fuming.
Although he knew Brandon wouldn't mess around, he also knew there were plenty of women racking their brains and trying everything to get close to him, wanting to become his stepmother.
Rather than letting those people become his stepmother, he might as well find one he liked himself!
Elijah immediately thought of Candice, whom he'd met at the hospital.

If Candice became his mother, he would definitely agree!
Thinking of this, Elijah decided he'd go find Candice tomorrow morning!
After all, he'd just found out where she lived!
