Chapter 8 Candice, Let's See Where You Can Run To
Six years had passed, and Candice thought she'd become emotionally numb.
Yet her body's instincts still betrayed her at the slightest provocation.
Her breathing faltered, so easily manipulated by Brandon's touch!
Candice sensed danger, the sharp ache in her chest clearly warning her to stop this.
If this continued, who knew what might happen?
In a panic, Candice raised her knee, aiming to strike him.
Brandon reacted quickly, freeing one hand to block her leg.
Her attack failed, and instead, he caught her leg.
He let out a cold laugh, applying slight pressure.
The next moment, her leg was lifted.
Brandon pressed forward.
He gripped her chin, his eyes now dark with desire, blood still visible at the corner of his mouth where she'd bitten him—the epitome of dangerous sensuality.
Brandon asked, his voice impossibly rough, "Candice, are you really that eager?"
Breathing heavily, Candice snapped back furiously, "Eager for what? Brandon, you absolute jerk, let me go."
She struggled with all her might.
But her strength was nothing compared to Brandon's, completely negligible.
Completely restrained, Candice desperately lunged forward and bit his neck.
Brandon instinctively tried to dodge, but was a moment too late.
Candice's teeth sank hard into his collarbone.
Brandon inhaled sharply, his perfect brows furrowing.
He looked down at the woman in his arms.
Candice was genuinely angry, biting down mercilessly, with serious force.
The pain from the bite was crystal clear.
Brandon's tone darkened as he warned, "Candice. Let go."
Candice huffed, refusing to release him, actually biting down harder.
Her heart was filled with nothing but rage.
This jerk had forced a kiss on her—he deserved to pay!
Seeing she wouldn't release him, Brandon raised his hand to the nape of her neck, maliciously massaging the sensitive spot.
That was Candice's weakness.
Before long, the sensation made her back tingle, and she couldn't help letting out a soft moan, sounding utterly seductive, but still she wouldn't let go.
Brandon laughed despite his anger. "What are you, a dog?"
Hearing this, Candice ignored him and bit down even harder.
This time, she tasted blood.
Candice seemed to finally realize what she'd done and quickly released him, putting distance between them.
Her gaze fell on the spot she'd bitten.
Brandon's collarbone now bore the clear imprint of teeth, streaked with blood, looking rather frightening.
Candice was stunned, apparently not expecting to have bitten him so severely.
But on second thought, Brandon had brought this on himself.
He deserved it for treating her this way!
While Brandon raised his hand to check the wound on his collarbone, Candice seized the opportunity and shoved him hard.
Then she quickly wriggled free from his embrace.
"This isn't my fault," she declared righteously. "You provoked me first, Mr. Obelon. I hope you've learned your lesson! If there's a next time, I'll call the police!"
After delivering this threat, without waiting for Brandon's reaction, she opened the door and ran.
Brandon hadn't expected her to escape so easily. His face darkened as he immediately took several steps forward. "Candice, stop right there! I'm not finished talking to you."
As if Candice would stop?
She wasn't stupid. Having been caught once, she naturally kept running without looking back, moving even faster.
Within moments, she'd made it into the elevator.
Brandon was a step too late and could only watch helplessly as the elevator doors closed.
His entire face was dark with anger as he ground out, "Run all you want, Candice. Let's see how far you get!"
After speaking, Brandon immediately took out his phone and called Knox. "Where are you?"
Hearing his tone, Knox felt his hair stand on end and quickly replied, "I just dealt with those two drunk guys. What else do you need, sir?"
At the mention of the drunk men, Brandon angrily ordered, "Break their hands. After that's done, find Candice immediately. Use the fastest methods possible!"
Knox didn't know what had just happened between them.
But hearing Brandon's displeased tone, he guessed Candice had angered him.
He promptly acknowledged the order, "Yes, sir."
Meanwhile.
Candice's heart was still racing when she exited the elevator.
She looked at her reflection in the elevator mirror.
She appeared somewhat disheveled, but that dishevelment carried a certain quality.
Anyone could tell at a glance what had just happened.
Thankfully, no one else was in the elevator.
She quickly straightened her rumpled clothes. When she accidentally touched her lips, a twinge of pain made her frown.
In those few moments, they'd become swollen from his kisses.
Candice grew angrier, silently cursing Brandon again.
The absolute nerve of him!
He already had a son, yet he would do this to his ex-wife!
Truly despicable!
In the future, she'd better avoid Brandon altogether.
Because of this unexpected incident, Candice didn't have the courage to return to the private room looking like this.
She called Qiana to tell her she had an emergency and needed to leave, promising to treat her to dinner another day.
Hearing this, Qiana replied, "I was wondering what happened to you, missing for so long. I was about to send someone to look for you. I'm glad you're okay."
Candice apologetically said, "I'm fine. Please apologize to your friends for me."
"It's nothing. They're all partying so hard they didn't even notice you were gone. Go ahead if you need to."
"Okay, I'll hang up now."
After putting away her phone, Candice sighed with relief and quickly left the venue, afraid of running into Brandon again.
