Chapter 10 Can't Sleep Thinking of You
The next day.
Brandon left for the office right after breakfast that morning.
What he didn't know was that Elijah left home right after he did.
Around ten in the morning, the butler, Beau, discovered Elijah was missing and frantically contacted Brandon.
"Mr. Brandon Obelon, something terrible has happened! Mr. Elijah Obelon is missing!"
Brandon was in the middle of handling urgent work. When he got the call, he rushed home immediately.
"What happened? How could he just disappear like that?"
The security guards at home checked and quickly came to report, "Mr. Elijah Obelon hacked the home security system. Also, we found a person-sized hole in the flower bed in the backyard with signs of someone crawling through. He probably escaped from there."
Brandon was well aware of Elijah's abilities.
The idea of him being kidnapped at home was impossible.
But the possibility of Elijah running away on his own was very high.
After all, this wasn't the first time.
Thinking about this, Brandon felt a splitting headache.
He pinched the bridge of his nose and asked Beau, "When was that hole dug? Wasn't the last one already filled in?"
Beau broke out in a cold sweat and said nervously, "A few days ago, a servant saw Mr. Elijah Obelon playing in the backyard with that large, intelligent robot. It was probably dug then. I had no idea."
Brandon took a deep breath.
So when Elijah said he was running away from home last night, he wasn't just talking?
"Fill in that hole, and get someone to reinforce the backyard wall!"
Brandon knew there was no point in dwelling on it now. He instructed Knox, "Send people out immediately to find Elijah!"
"Okay."
Knox agreed, his scalp tingling.
Though Elijah was young, he had exceptional intelligence and knew anti-tracking techniques. Plus, he had already disabled the tracking device on him.
Finding Elijah would definitely take some serious effort.
But Knox didn't dare slack off.
He knew that Elijah was Brandon's whole world.
Despite how the father and son loved to bicker, Brandon doted on Elijah intensely.
If anything really happened to him, everyone would suffer the consequences!
Soon, Knox went off to search for Elijah.
While things were chaotic on their end, Elijah had already arrived at Candice's place.
On his way over, Elijah had even made a special stop to buy flowers. Now he was ringing Candice's doorbell, looking quite pleased with himself.
Candice hadn't slept well last night, tossing and turning with dreams.
She dreamed about that scumbag Brandon.
Sometimes it was scenes of their intimate moments together, other times it was his harsh expression as he accused her of abandoning her husband and child.
The messy dreams ruined her sleep quality, causing her to wake up late. She was finally awakened by the doorbell.
"Who is it?"
She got up groggily to answer the door.
She thought it would be her work assistant, but unexpectedly came face to face with the little boy she'd met at the hospital yesterday.
Candice jolted awake instantly.
After all, this was Brandon's son.
Had Brandon found her place this quickly?
Candice looked around frantically, but aside from Elijah, there was no one else.
Elijah's eyes were already lighting up at the sight of Candice.
Even though Candice was wearing pajamas, hadn't washed up yet, and her hair was a bit messy, she still looked so beautiful!
He greeted her enthusiastically, saying in his sweet voice, "We meet again! I picked these flowers especially for you!"
Looking at the fresh, beautiful bouquet in front of her, Candice's expression became complicated.
She asked, "Why are you here? Who did you come with? How did you know I live here?"
Elijah answered straightforwardly, "I looked it up myself. I like you so much I couldn't sleep. Don't you want me here?"
Though young, he could read people's expressions and naturally noticed that Candice didn't seem happy to see him.
Candice really didn't know what expression to show Elijah.
After all, this was Brandon and Vesper's son.
The moment she saw him, she felt more shocked than pleased.
But then she thought about it, adult conflicts shouldn't involve children. Besides, she was a mother herself.
Facing such a small, adorable child who even said he liked her, she really couldn't bring herself to dislike Elijah.
Candice sighed and took the flowers, replying, "That's not it. Thank you for the flowers. But when you say you looked it up yourself, is that really true?"
She was very puzzled by this.
While there were many smart kids, ones this capable were still rare.
Seeing her accept his flowers, Elijah immediately broke into a happy smile.
Looking shy yet adorable, he nodded his little head and spilled all about his abilities.
"It's true! I hacked into the hospital's surveillance system, found your license plate, tracked your route, and finally pinpointed this residential area."
"But when I got here, I didn't know which house was yours. The security guard at the main gate told me. He's really nice!"
Candice listened in complete shock.
Brandon's son had ridiculously high intelligence. The kid was only a bit over five years old.
Though her own Yasmin was also very smart.
She had to admit, that scumbag Brandon's genes were pretty impressive!
After briefly spacing out, Candice realized something else.
If Elijah could track her down, couldn't Brandon do the same?
She'd better get someone to wipe the hospital surveillance footage.
Candice acted quickly, immediately pulling out her phone to have someone handle it.
After giving instructions, she asked, "Did you come all this way to see me for a specific reason? If it's about treating someone, I really can't help and don't have time."
Her expression looked a bit troubled.
Besides, from her interaction with Brandon last night, he seemed perfectly healthy!
She couldn't see anything wrong with him at all!
Elijah said in his sweet, childlike voice, "I know. I won't push you about the treatment. I just wanted to see you and be friends with you. I really, really like you. Is that okay?"
Elijah's tone carried a hint of pleading and carefulness, so soft and adorable!
