Chapter 153 Fanatic Pursuer Named Obelon
At noon, after leaving the research lab, Candice was about to grab lunch with Anais when she suddenly got a call from the front desk.
"Ms. Elikin, there's a local delivery for you at the front desk."
Candice was a bit confused after hearing this. "A local delivery for me?"
"Yes, you need to sign for it in person."
Candice wondered who could be sending her something.
After telling Anais, she headed to the front desk first to check it out.
Before she even got there, she could see from a distance a large bouquet of roses at the lobby front desk, along with a delivery person.
Seeing Candice approach, the person immediately asked, "Are you Ms. Elikin? There's a bouquet here for you."
Candice looked at the bright, vibrant roses, feeling even more puzzled.
She asked, "Are you sure you have the right person?"
Why would anyone send her flowers?
What did this mean?
And who sent them?
The delivery person checked the form and replied seriously, "Don't worry, there's no mistake. The address and your name on this form are correct."
Candice felt strange about it but signed for it anyway.
Soon, the delivery person left.
Anais walked up and circled around the bouquet, nodding appreciatively. "The wrapping is quite pretty, but who sent it? Some crazy admirer of yours?"
After all, this kind of thing wasn't uncommon in Silverlight City.
Hearing this, Candice immediately shook her head and said firmly, "Definitely not! What admirers do I have?"
Anais didn't ask further but continued looking at the bouquet. "There seem to be quite a lot of flowers here."
Then she suddenly spotted a card and reached for it. "There's a card here. Maybe it has the sender's name. Quick, let's see who it is!"
Candice instinctively took the card and glanced at it.
There was indeed a signature, but only a surname: Obelon!
Candice's expression showed slight surprise.
Could this surname be Brandon?
Would he send flowers to someone?
As she was puzzling over this, she heard Anais's shocked and incredulous voice. "Who sends yellow roses when pursuing a girl? Does the sender want to end things with you or something?"
After hearing this, Candice looked at Anais.
Only now did they realize that yellow roses generally symbolize the end of a relationship.
Candice was also full of confusion.
What did Brandon mean by this?
Sending flowers, but yellow roses—did he really want to cut ties with her?
Candice's eyes suddenly turned cold.
He said such nice things at the breakfast table this morning, but his actual actions were something else entirely!
Sure enough, his words couldn't be trusted!
Candice felt somewhat unhappy. With a flick of her hand, she threw the card straight into the trash.
She instructed Anais expressionlessly, "Get rid of these flowers."
With that, she turned and walked away without hesitation.
In those few seconds, Anais sensed Candice's displeasure and quickly nodded. "Okay, got it."
On Brandon's side.
While busy handling his work, he squeezed in time to check his phone.
The order clearly showed that Candice had signed for the bouquet, but why hadn't she responded at all?
Did he forget to fill in the sender's name?
Brandon quickly exited and checked again, confirming that he'd submitted all the information completely.
Surname Obelon.
How many people with the surname Obelon could there be around Candice? And suddenly sending her flowers—no matter how she guessed, she should be able to figure out it was him, right?
Or was it that Candice was still angry, so she was deliberately ignoring him?
He couldn't help but wonder if Finnian's method was wrong.
Candice had no news all afternoon.
By evening, Brandon's patience had run out.
He finally couldn't help it and left work early, planning to go to the Mortimer Group to ask Candice in person.
But just as he left his office, Sterling called him over to discuss some business matters.
The delay cost him some time, and on the other side, Candice had also left work.
She planned to pick up the two little ones and go home.
When leaving the research institute, she ran into Anais.
"Ms. Elikin!"
Anais quickly stopped her and handed Candice a large package. "This is for you!"
Candice looked at it puzzled and asked, "What's this?"
Anais smiled and said, "Didn't you ask me to get rid of those yellow roses? I didn't know the best way to handle them, so I had them processed into dried flowers. Take some home—you can display them in your living room."
After hearing this, Candice didn't know whether to laugh or cry.
"Even though I asked you to handle it, I didn't mean for you to handle it like this."
Anais also laughed. "Such a large bouquet—throwing it away would be too wasteful. Plus, the flower variety was quite rare, and there were so many of them. It must have cost a lot of money!"
"Just keep them. Dried flowers can be beautiful too. During the processing, they added some spices and other materials, so they give off a fragrance and can even calm the nerves."
With such persuasion, Candice could only nod helplessly. "Alright, I'll take them then!"
"These flowers were sent to you in the first place. I even took some for myself."
Anais joked with Candice.
Candice smiled, then said goodbye and went to pick up the two little ones.
On the way back, Yasmin said to her with a worried face, "Tomorrow at kindergarten, they're organizing a group trip to the hospital for checkups. They might draw blood. I asked the teacher if I could skip it because Candice does regular checkups for me, but the teacher said no."
"Candice, can you talk to my teacher and tell her not to make me go? Or you could do the checkup for me and just give the results to the teacher. Would that work? Otherwise, I'm scared."
By the end, Yasmin looked pitiful, acting cute and sweet.
Seeing her little expression, Candice couldn't help but laugh.
Since she was little, Yasmin had never liked getting shots from anyone else—she only let Candice do it.
If she went to the hospital, she'd probably cry her eyes out.
Candice had no objections, so she said, "Sure, I'll ask your teacher later what tests they need, and I'll do the checkup for you!"
Hearing this, Yasmin's eyes immediately lit up. "That's great! And let Elijah do it together too!"
Candice nodded. "Of course! I'll definitely have you both do it together!"
She would never play favorites!
Elijah's eyes also brightened, sparkling with excitement.
Actually, he wasn't afraid of shots or taking medicine.
But if he had to choose between the hospital and Candice, he would definitely choose Candice!
So he pressed his little lips together and smiled, clearly very happy.
That evening, after getting home, Candice told Zola about this.
Zola had no objections and sent over the routine checkup items.
They were all basic health checks.
Candice looked through them and quickly got the picture.
