Chapter 152 Brandon, You Really Can't!
Yasmin was standing nearby and could see that Elijah didn't want to leave, so she quickly spoke up for him.
In a sweet childlike voice, she reasoned, "Brandon, Elijah hasn't fully recovered yet. How can you take him away now? Why not wait until he's better? What if his illness comes back?"
"And do you know how bad drinking is for you? It harms your health and makes you lose control. You might do things you can't take back. My grandparents told me all this!"
Brandon hadn't expected that at his age, he'd be lectured by a little girl. He found it somewhat amusing.
But he calmly replied, "I know that, Yasmin. Don't worry, I don't do this often. When I go out for business dinners, I control myself and rarely get drunk. Last night was an exception."
By now, he'd figured it out.
The reason he ended up at Candice's place last night must have been Finnian's doing!
Going back a bit further, Finnian had been the one pouring him drinks all night.
He must have been planning to send him here all along.
Brandon was actually quite satisfied with what Finnian had done.
Looks like he could give Finnian a few extra days off and maybe a bonus too!
Seeing Brandon's good attitude about admitting his mistake, Yasmin nodded and continued in an adult-like tone, "Good that you know. Otherwise, if you feel sick later, you'll have to take medicine or get shots, and shots are scary."
As she said this, her little expression was full of fear, looking especially cute.
She was clearly terrified of shots.
Brandon smiled and agreed, "Yes, they are quite scary."
"Good that you know!" Yasmin nodded her head seriously.
Candice glanced over and thought Yasmin was adorable.
But she didn't want to be friendly to Brandon.
So after breakfast, Candice took Elijah and Yasmin to kindergarten without paying any attention to Brandon, not even letting him ride along.
Brandon watched the car drive away and felt a bit helpless. In the end, he contacted Knox himself and had him come pick him up.
At nine in the morning, he arrived at the company on time.
Soon after, Finnian came running over excitedly to gather information.
"Brandon, good morning!"
He leaned close to Brandon and quietly probed, "Are you satisfied with my arrangement last night? Tell me, how did things go with Candice?"
"Did you take advantage of being drunk to confess your feelings or something? Or maybe some intimate contact to warm up your relationship?"
Finnian looked at him expectantly.
He'd already delivered Brandon right to her door, Brandon shouldn't disappoint him!
However, after hearing his words, Brandon silently thought back to last night's situation.
He'd been too drunk, barely conscious at the time.
Thinking about it now, he didn't really feel Candice's genuine warmth.
Though they did do quite a bit of what they should have done, and also what they shouldn't have done.
Of course, Brandon wasn't going to tell Finnian that.
He lowered his eyes, his expression unreadable, and asked flatly, "I made her angry. Any ideas on how to make her happy again?"
Hearing this, Finnian looked at him in disbelief and said, "No way, Brandon. I created such a perfect opportunity for you, and you still managed to make her angry? You really can't handle this!"
His tone was full of disappointment.
Hearing this, Brandon's eyes suddenly became dangerous. "What did you say? Say that again?"
Finnian shivered, realizing his words had been too bold.
He quickly explained, "No, I mean, your methods for pursuing someone aren't working! Last night I even hid in the shadows and watched for a while before leaving. Didn't Candice let you stay over?"
Brandon didn't deny it and replied flatly, "I did stay over, but it seems I said something while drunk that upset her."
He looked at Finnian with unfriendly eyes. "Speaking of which, I'd like to ask you, why did you pour me so much alcohol for no reason?"
At least leave him with some sense!
Finnian was stunned.
So this was somehow his fault?
It was clearly Brandon who couldn't handle it!
But he didn't dare say this to Brandon's face.
Since things had already turned out this way, he could only sigh and help Brandon come up with ideas.
"It's not that hard. Making a girl happy is simple—just give her something she likes!"
After hearing this, Brandon frowned and said, "She likes work and herbs, but I gave her herbs last time, and she wasn't particularly happy!"
Plus, Candice had transferred him money for the herbs, and she hadn't accepted the gift he'd bid on either.
Finnian's mind filled with countless questions.
He was about to lose all faith in Brandon.
He rubbed his head in frustration and said, "No, Brandon, while you're right about catering to her interests, your gift choices are really terrible."
"You're trying to win over a girl, not negotiating a business deal or contract. Of course, you should send flowers! Flowers make people happy, especially girls. Unless they're allergic to pollen, no girl doesn't like flowers!"
"Or at least send bags, clothes, or jewelry—any of those would be better than herbs, right?"
Finnian was practically suffocating from frustration at Brandon's actions.
If he were the one receiving gifts and Brandon sent him herbs, he'd probably want to run away too!
After listening, Brandon remained noncommittal.
He just felt that, given his and Candice's situation at the time, he could only send her herbs.
She avoided him like the plague. Apart from work, they didn't even have a chance to talk about other topics.
If he'd sent her something else, she definitely wouldn't have accepted it.
However, he thought Finnian's current suggestion was actually pretty good.
After thinking it over, Brandon had a general idea of what to do. "Alright, I got it. Go do your work."
Seeing how quickly he was being dismissed, Finnian quickly spoke up, "Don't rush me away yet. Your 'I got it' is definitely different from what I mean by 'got it'!"
"You need to know that if you're really going to send flowers, there are rules! Different flowers have different meanings."
Brandon really didn't know about these things.
So after silently listening to Finnian ramble for a while, he said with a straight face, "Did I say I was sending flowers? I haven't decided yet!"
Finnian was left speechless and could only shut up.
Fine, he was leaving!
Once outside, he couldn't help sighing.
Knox looked up at him and asked, "What's wrong with Mr. Finnian Obelon?"
"Knox."
Finnian's expression was a bit sad as he said, "I feel like it's going to be really hard for Brandon to get married in this lifetime. He can't handle it."
Then he left, leaving Knox standing there, completely confused.
What did he mean Brandon couldn't handle it?
Meanwhile, the slandered Brandon, after Finnian left, took out his phone and started looking up the so-called flower meanings online.
A few minutes later, he found the best flower shop in the city and ordered all their yellow roses.
Then he filled in Candice's address and told them to deliver them!
