Ghost of the Past (II)
Ghost of the Past (II)
Sabine paced back and forth in pure nervousness,in Kai's apartment, "This is a horrible idea, why did I let you all talk me into this?” Before she could receive an answer, she heard Kai shout,
"YOU MUST BE OUT YOUR MOTHERFFUCKIN’MIND THINKING YOU ABOUT TO COME UP IN A BROTHER’S CRIB AND STEA-”
"KAI!” She yelled, horrified, "It’s just me!”
He scolded her, "Don’t do that Doe! Scared the hell out of me. Activated the shit out of my hood baby, powers. I know you don’t know this but you can’t just roll up on people from the hood cribs like that. You gotta announce yourself love. Where I’m from ain’t like the small towns on them Lifetime movies you like, if you ain’t careful a stranger will straight walk up in your shit like they pay rent.”
She rubbed the back of her neck, "S-sorry. I just needed to see you.”
Calming, he pulled her to him, "It’s all good, This is a great surprise.” He said into her hair. Pulling her back, he smirked at the shift in her eyes, "Ah, let me guess, you’re having another spell writing mental block.” His eyes shifted, the opposite of her, as he picked her up bridal style, "Say no more, a few orgasms should do the trick. It did wonders for you last time.”
Mortified, she pushed against his chest, "OH MY GOD!”
He laughed as he placed her on the counter, "My face isn’t even down there yet Doe, I mean I’m good but not THAT good.” Tugging at her pants, he scrunched his face, confused when she swatted his hands, "What’s wrong with-”
Agatha cleared her throat behind him, "Perhaps we should return later.” She said as she stifled her laugh.
"AHHHHHH!” Kai shouted as he whipped around to see two women and a man floating behind him. He grabbed his chest, "S-Sabine….” He whispered, "You see them too right?! Please tell me you see them and I’m not trippin’ because I don’t have time for another mental breakdown. I just got through one and George gonna be pissed when I bust up his make up, honeymoon.”
Jumping from the counter, she grabbed his hand, "Okay...okay just relax. You’re not having a mental breakdown, they’re really here.” She pointed to Agatha and the large man who stood silently glaring at him, "Kai, this is my mother Agatha and my real father Sampson.”
Seeing the two eyeing him after his display, made Kai immediately panic. Loudly, he belted, " I WASN’T ABOUT TO DO ANYTHING FREAKY TO HER, I SWEAR!”
Agatha shook her head, "Didn’t look like you weren’t about to do anything...heathen.”
Sampson nodded, cutting his eyes into slits, "My sentiments exactly.”
In full sensory overdrive, Kai almost screamed seeing Sabine still holding his hand. He jerked his hand from her grasp, and put them behind his back, "No, no there isn’t any heathenry going on here! I’m sanctified, holyfied, and any other fied that puts you close to the man upstairs. I-I was about to help her mediate-NO meditate, yeah! I was about to help her meditate.”
"Meditate? Where? On your face?” The very small woman standing next to Agatha said in slight amusement and Kai let out a groan.
He looked at Sabine, 'You gonna just let me drown here? Your mother, father, and your-” He tilted his head, "Little cousin?”
She arched her brow, "Well if you hadn’t panicked, I would have-wait my little cousin?”
"Yeah, and look I mean I know that kids are advanced and know a lot more than they should, but dead or alive, I don’t think what she said was something a child should-”
"OH MY GOODNESS!” Agatha belted a laugh, finally understanding. Doubled over in laughter, she pointed, trying her hardest to get the words out, "M-mom, he thinks you’re Sabine’s younger cousin!” She could hardly keep herself together, "This is better than before, Kai, this is Mable, Sabine’s grandmother.”
If he was wishing for death before, Kai was now two seconds from tracking down the reaper himself. He shrank at the short woman whose glare only seemed to grow. Inhaling deep, he shook his head, "From the look on your face...you don’t seem to be fond of the accident. IN MY DEFENSE though...you really give straight black don’t crack vibes, plus you’re like really sho-”
Sabine punched his side, stopping his words. Through a forced smile, she whispered, "Grandma Mable was the tallest in her coven.”
"Fucking hell!” He said loudly, before covering his face, "It was nice to meet you all, now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go die now.” He lowered his head, and sulked to his room, making Sabine bite the side of her lip in laughter.
"Now you three know that wasn’t very nice.”
Sampson's eyes gleamed, "Well you can’t tell us that the boy is high strung and expect us not to pick with him.”
She rolled her eyes playfully, "I’ll be back and this time, behave.” Finding Kai laid on the bed, she laid beside him,"“Look, don’t even sweat it. Remember how the first meeting between me and your sisters went.”
He scoffed, "Yeah, the one where they welcomed you and I on the other hand had four dudes try to literally eat me alive.”
Laughing, she kissed his shoulder, "They just really wanted to meet you...and this is the first real experience I had with my father and I-I don’t know, I wanted you to be a part of that.”
He looked down at her, and as she looked at him, he felt the shift in him again, "That does something to me.” He whispered to her.
"What does?”
"When you want me to be a part of things that mean the most to you. It makes me feel honored and like you trust me.”
She gave him a smile that lit up her entire face, "I trust you more than you know, and I love you more than you could possibly ever grasp.” She watched his eyes slowly shift, and he pulled her to him causing her to gasp at the gentle zaps that poured into her from his fingers. Hesitantly, she bit the side of her bottom lip, "Can I ask you something?”
"Anything”
"Are you happy?’ He looked at her slightly stunned, and she looked away, "I-I just want to check in and make sure that you’re doing okay there-” She pointed to his temple, "And there.” She said, pointing to his heart.
Kai breathed her in and his husky voice said low, "I love that you’re looking out for me that way.” causing prickles to go up her back. He kissed her gently and the two laid silently, eyes locked with one another.
"Give it another try? I KNOW that they will love you.”
He nodded, "Of course.” She smiled again at him and the two walked out of the room. Reapproaching, he exhaled, "Hope we can all start over.”
Agatha smiled and he realized how much she and Sabine really looked alike, “I would love that and we’re sorry for pulling your leg so much, but Sabine was right, you’re absolutely adorable when you’re off your A game.”
Nudging Sabine with his hip, he gave her a playful grin, "You set me up.”
She shrank, "Only a little bit. I didn’t think it would go like that though.”
"What in the world am I going to do with you?”
Mable smirked, "Probably meditate her when we’re gone.” Kai’s mouth dropped causing everyone in the room to laugh loudly.
