In his bedroom, Kai sat on the bed desperately wanting to talk to someone about how to propose to Sabine. With George and Diane away, he felt more lost than ever. Calling Jordan, he practically screamed into the phone when he answered, "ComeoverIneedyourhelp.” He heard a commotion in the back and then Jordan roar,
"STOP FUCKING FIGHTING!”
"TELL HIS OLD ASS TO TELL ME WHAT HE DOES FOR A LIVING!” Sterling shouted in retort.
Demetri hissed, "I WILL NOT! I ENJOY WATCHING YOU SUFFER!” He sneered, "Guess what else Sterling, it was one of my companies that just finished the renovations to your home, and guess what I had them install at the front of every one of your rooms.”
"Y-you wouldn’t dare…” Sterling said, his voice cracking.
"OH BUT I DID! May you never sleep again as my army of little steps takes advantage of your ill coordination.” Kai could hear his grin through the phone, "To me, it says, Sterling, an Alpha that bumbles in buffoonery.”
"YOU SADISTIC MOTHERFUCKER!” Kai heard Sterling scream before chaos rang on the other line again.
Jordan spoke into the phone, "I-I got to go Kai, well talk later, I promise. Sorry, ma-ELIJAH CATCH HIM BEFORE HE SMASHES THE TV!”
Kai heard the line disconnect, and he frantically called Rachel. Hearing her pick up, he gave a sigh of relief. "Oh! Thank goodness, Rach I need you to come over and help”
"Kai...I have to call you back, Morgan and I are on our way to a meeting with the dean of the wolf school.”
"Wait, why? Did something happen with EJ and Harps E?” He heard a pause,
"Welllll E.J sort of kinda ostriched a kid for messing with Lizzy.”
Kai stared at the phone, "What the hell is getting ostriched?”
"Apparently, the little boy liked Harper and so he got in his head that it would be best to bully her to show her that he liked her which included slapping her lunch out of her hand and pulling her hair. So they were all playing in the sandbox during recess, and the little boy went after Lizzy again, she got pissed and punched him in the face, almost breaking his nose.”
"JESUS!” Kai screamed.
"Mhm, Elijah Jr came to her defense and when he found out why she punched the boy, he grabbed his head and shoved it into the sand and sat on it.” She scoffed, "And now they’re saying he was trying to kill him.” She paused for a moment, "Fuck Kai...I think my child may be a bit of a psychopath.”
Kai laughed, "They all are. E.J is just like his father and grandfather, he hides it a lot better.”
She sighed, "Yeah, doesn’t help that when the boy went and told, and they asked E.J if he did it, he smiled and said allegedly”
"OH SHIT!” Kai yelled as he rolled around on the bed in laughter. His eyes purpled, as he processed the story, "Wait so why are Harps E and E.J in trouble and not the little shit?”
"Exactly why we’re not going up there to chastise our children, we’re going there to pull them out of the school and beat whoever ass we need to.” She seethed, "Apparently this isn’t the first incident that involves him, but it is the first that was witnessed by a member of Dark Moon-the janitor and get this! The dean tried to bribe him! Apparently, the kid's father and the dean have something going on so she covers for him.”
"Oh nah, she needs her ass beat and I’ll gladly beat the father’s ass.”
She laughed, "I’ll let you know, but there are three people in line ahead of you.” Letting out a chuckle, he hung up the phone and dialed Alexus’s number.
She answered on the first ring, "Hey Kai”
He could hear the sadness in her voice, "Who ass do I need to beat? I’m coming right now!”
She sighed, “N-no, I’m at Mavier’s school and they’re saying he’s not going to advance to the next grade.”
"WHAT WHY? VIER’S SMART AS HELL!”
She sniffled, "I know! They’re saying it has nothing to do with that. He aces everything and is exceeding beyond anyone in his class. They want to keep him behind...because he won’t stop saying woo before everything he says.”
Kai twisted his lips, "That’s the dumbest fucking thing I’ve ever heard.”
"That’s what I said but apparently Transylvanian Scholars exude proper etiquette at all times and his little nervous tick is not proper articulation or etiquette.”
Kai felt his rage bubble over, "Pull him out that fucking school Lexy. Ain’t a damn thing wrong with my nephew.”
She chuckled, "Oh I know. I’m not crying because I’m sad at what they said, I’m crying because I’m sad that they called the cops before I got the chance to use the headmistresses body as a sled, you know that’s my signature move.”
Kai smirked, "Yeahhh that was definitely funny as hell to see.” He paused, "I always wondered why your clan or the packs don’t have your own schools. Not like yall can’t afford to build them.”
She paused slightly stunned, "I have absolutely no idea why none of us thought of that.”
"Because you all are not on my level of genius.”
"Ummm Kai? Aren’t you the same one that got stuck in that Chinese finger trap for like three hours because you wouldn’t let Sabine tell you how to get out of it?”
His eyes widened, "WHA-SHE SAID SHE WASN’T GONNA TELL YALL!”
Cackling on the other end, Alexus shook her head, "You were crazy to think she wouldn’t especially because you conjured up some scissors and had Beemo cut you out.”
He clenched his teeth, "The man at the store lied to me. He said it was made out of bamboo, I've seen bamboo, don’t no damn bamboo hold you hostage like that!” Embarrassed, he let out a grumble and hung up the phone, finding himself even more frazzled than before. Kai laid back on the bed and looked at the ceiling
Why is this so hard?
He thought to himself. For everything they’d been through, he wanted to make her feel special. He wanted his proposal to make it clear how much he loved her. He rubbed his face, before hearing a shuffle in the other room. Knowing Beemo was over Sabines’, his ears perked up and he silently stalked out to the living room.
