Ghost of the Past (Part III)

Ghost of the Past (Part III)
After great conversation, Agatha pulled Kai aside, "You are as wonderful as they described you.”

"I don’t know about all that but-wait...they?”

She pursed her lips, and looked towards Sampson, "Let’s just say that your sister Morgan helped me to figure out something really important.”

Confusion lined his face, "And what’s that?”

She shrugged, "There’s nothing wrong with being greedy. I may be only one cookie, but that doesn’t mean I can’t be double stuffed.” Kai choked loudly on his spit and she chuckled, "That’s payback for what I had to bear witness to earlier.”

His face flushed, "You win. I don’t want to play this game.” Pausing, he looked down at her again, "I still don’t get it though. Okay, you’re with Sampson but who-” His face paled as he watched hers grow serious. "That’s not possible.”

She placed her hands on her hips, "Kai, has anything about all of this taught you that anything is possible? Martin is my paramour, that link remains even in death.” Knowing what he was about to ask, her eyes softened, "He’s not tied to our family's magic, but trust me, if he could have physically appeared her, he would have.”

He thought about every moment that passed where he felt his father’s influence, "Thank you for taking care of him.” He said finally.

She smiled, "Thank you for taking care of her.” Watching how his eyes gleamed at her daughter, she smirked, "Stop overthinking it. You already know how to ask her.”

His eyes widened, "Wha-”

She laughed, "I’m sure I’m not the first to tell you it’s written all over your face.”

He grumbled, "Yeah...well...hmph.” Then playfully looked at her again, "I need to step my game up. I didn’t know I was standing next to the mack herself.”

Pouting her lips, Agatha snapped her fingers, "Got more game than Nintendo.” Sharing a laugh, the two joined the others.

Sabine cut her eyes, "What were you two talking about?”

"Nothing dear,” Agatha replied sweetly before winking at Kai. A wave of sadness hit the room as she knew what she was about to say would hurt her daughter, "Sabine...this is the last time you will be seeing us. We’ve fulfilled the purpose of the book.”

Sabine's eyes teared, "I-I kinda think I knew that...doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt though.”

"I know, but I need you to remember that we’re always here. You two are protected, we have your backs forever.”

Hearing her words, Sabine looked to her grandmother and father before giving a small sad smile. Kai wrapped his arms around her and Sampson shook his head,

"You take care of her, you hear me? We trust you to do right, not just for her but for yourself.”

Knowing who he was talking about, Kai nodded his head, "Yes sir.” As the three disappeared he gave a smile, and then grabbed Sabine in his arms. He kissed the top of her head, "Are you okay?”

She burrowed into him, 'Yes, thank you for being there for me, it meant the world.”

"Anything for you,” he replied before taking her hand. Ushering her to the couch, they two sat and he pulled out his guitar. "You remember this?” He said, his eyes gleaming, "You’re not going to freak out on me again, if I ask you to play something with me, are you?”

She scowled at him, "Don’t tease me about that, I had a good reason and you know it.”

He kissed her cheek and she crawled into his lap, and he placed the guitar in front of them. Kai put his hand over hers and played a gentle note from one of his songs. Immediately Sabine felt the beautiful chaos of his magic shoot through, and her eyes shifted. One purple, the other almost iridescent green, she looked up to see his the same. As he continued to play, Kai leaned down and slipped his tongue into her mouth. She groaned into his, as the rifts on his guitar brought purple notes into the air.

"Wow…” She said in pure amazement. "Y-you’re truly amazing, Trouble.”

"So are you Doe.” He paused, "Earlier you asked me something.” Hand still over hers, he poured the passionate notes through her, allowing her to feel his emotions.

Her bottom lip quivered, "Ohh…” She said low, before pouring her emotions through him in return.

"Ask me again.” He whispered against her as the notes from the guitar grew more intense.

"A-Are you happy?” She stammered and he tilted his head back and forth.

"Almost”

"Why almost?”

Instead of responding, he kissed her again, before strumming the guitar hard. Sabine felt a gentle zap against her finger, and tears fell from her eyes the moment she saw the ring of pure chaotic light create the shape of a band that swirled around her finger. She looked in his eyes, and he returned the intensity of her stare.

"I couldn’t have done any of this without you, I really need you to know that. You helped me to grow up, you made me face my demons, and you gave me so much love, it overflowed and pushed me to give myself some.” He caressed her face, removing her glamour, "You showed me the real you. Trusted me with your bare soul, and I’ll always be in awe of how beautiful you are inside and out.”

Sabine closed her eyes, sobbing lightly, "I don’t know what to say.”

"Say you’ll be my wife, because I’ve grown honest enough to admit how selfish I’ve become, and being almost happy just isn’t enough for me.” He made her fingers strum harder on the guitar and the chaotic light of the ring began to form a shape. Golden thorn wrapped around her finger, ending with Calla Lily like petals that opened and drooped each revealing encrusted diamonds. Hearing her continue to sob, he kissed her cheek, “Don’t cry Doe.” The inside of the bud slowly formed and paused as if in waiting.

Sabine covered her mouth and shook her head, in excitement, "YES!” she shouted, making him laugh. Raising his hand, Kai strummed one more note against the guitar, and an emerald appeared in the middle and the bud held it tightly. Snatching the guitar, Sabine placed it on the table and leaped into his arms. Showering his face with kisses, she found his lips and Kai kissed her deeply. He wiped her eyes and smiled against her lips. "Ask me.”She said.

"Are you happy?” He asked and watch a huge smile light up her face.

"Abso-fucking-lutely.” She said, and they shared a laugh before Kai clasped her face, and kissed his Doe once more.
