Three months later
Sterling grabbed the second pinata and hung it to the tree. He took a step back and looked at it.
“Okay be honest. Is this one giving?” Demetri scratched his head.
“Giving what?” Sterling shouted.
“GIVING!” Matching his irritation, Demetri roared back.
“GIVING WHAT?! FINISH THE DAMN STATEMENT!”
“IT IS FINISHED YOUR OLD ASS JUST NEED TO GET WITH THE TIMES! Didn't you help create the alphabet? Why the fuck can’t you figure out the meaning of the words they make?!”
Demetri shifted into his bat and kicked Sterling in the face with his batty toes. Sterling growled.
“DON’T YOU HIT ME WITH THOSE RAPTOR CLAWS!”
He shifted and swiped Demetri into a tree. Tussling on the ground, the two knocked over Harper’s and Ej’s building blocks. They stopped immediately.
“OH NO DADDY'S SO SOR-“
Harper shifted into her wolf and jumped on Sterling and he screamed.
“GET OF HER OFF! GET HER OFF!”
Demetri cackle until he felt Ej’s paws around his batty throat.
‘UNHAND ME SMALL WOLF CHILD!” He shouted and Elijah Jr and Harper let them go. They pushed the blocks in front of Sterling and Demetri and prepared to pounce again. The Primus and the Alpha wolf sat on the ground and pouted while rebuilding the castle.
“Just like yall damn mothers…” Sterling grumbled under his breath, as he and Demetri fixed the hard work they’d destroyed.
After finishing fixing the castle, they shifted back into their regular forms. Demetri's eyes widened as he realized his next mistake. He paced back and forth.
“She’s gonna FUCKING kill me.” He grabbed onto Sterling's shoulders. “I FORGOT MAVIER’S BLANKET IN THE CAR!” His son tucked away in the stroller, let out a small shiver. Demetri fell to the ground. “WHAT KIND OF FATHER AM I?!”
“Why are you two so damn dramatic?” Elijah sneered as he and Jordan walked into the opening. "Demetri, just borrows one of the ones that we have, and we’ll rotate it until the girls come from brunch with his." Demetri looked at him like he was insane.
“AREYOUCRAZYTHENSHEGONNAKNOWIFORGOTITINTHEFIRSTPLACEANDIMSTILLINTROUBLE” Jordan laughed hard.
“First time with Mavier completely alone huh?” Demetri scratched the back of his head.
“I made a big stink about it too…that’s possibly where my true fear lies. I was quite adamant about the fact that I hadn’t forgotten anything. Maybe I should call her-“
“NO!” They all screamed and Sterling slapped the phone out of his hand.
“THE HELL THE MATTER WITH YOU?! YOU NEVER INTERRUPT MOMMY BREAK!” Jordan nodded.
"I’m with Sterling on this one. When you’re on daddy duty…YOU DO NOT bother her unless it’s absolutely vital. It’s her free time- they call it mommy break, and she will harm you if you impede on it.”
He looked around at their wolves with their folded arms looking back at him. Elijah took the blanket and handed it to Demetri. As Demetri wrapped up his son, he processed their words, and he felt his face scrunch.
“So none of you truly bother them during that time?” Elijah chuckled.
“A few months ago, I called Rachel during mommy break and told her that EJ skinned his knee. You know what she said?”
“What?”
“She told me to put the phone on speakerphone. Then she asked me to take it off. Said she didn’t hear crying, so either he’s fine or his head was hanging off, which one was it?…so I’m like he’s fine I put on a Band-Aid and she um... kinda growled at me and was like for the next few hours, unless it was an emergency, I was a single dad and hung up.”
He laughed hard at Demetri’s expression. “I KNOW! I was floored! But then I had to honestly check myself. When I’m working or spending time with you all, she makes sure to give me my space so that I can enjoy daddy break. She sends me videos of EJ or calls if he wants to see me, but other than that, she really just allows me to enjoy my space.”
Jordan and Sterling nodded. “Same with Little Red. Plus we’re not idiots. We can figure out things without always hassling her.”
Demetri shook his head. “Never thought about it that way.” He looked down at his small son and made himself another mental note.
Make sure to give Little One more mommy breaks
Jordan looked to Demetri. “Have you heard anything?” He shook his head no.
“She’s disappeared.” Jordan sighed.
“That’s a shame…but we tried. There’s nothing else we can do for Rising Sun without their Supreme. And I mean, I don’t know about you all, but I’m exhausted. I need a break from the drama.” Elijah chuckled.
"Well, we would have been good, if his ass didn’t get all googly-eyed over Lexy.” Demetri scoffed.
"Hush it. You love me.” Elijah tilted his head back and forth and laughed as Demetri cut his eyes.

Alexus smiled seeing Demetri holding Mavier. She smirked at the blanket wrapped around him that was clearly Elijah Jrs’. Upon seeing her, his face flushed.
“I may have forgotten the blanket.” She kissed his cheek.
"And you also solved the issue without interrupting my break. Thank you.”
“Little One…I’m sorry…for not being more considerate about that.” She leaned into him.
“We’re new parents Demetri it’s okay. You’re wonderful with Mavier, I promise.” He looked down at his son.
“Still. Tonight I’ll put Mavier to bed so you can get some rest okay?”
Alexus pulled him down to her and kissed him passionately saying nothing else in response. As his son snuggled against him, Demetri finally felt comfortable enough to make one final mental note.

George walked over to Diane and she turned and smiled.
“You look beautiful Diane, and yes that’s an old wolf flirting.” She shook her head.
“Oh, you” And playfully pushed him. He rubbed the back of his neck.
"Have you thought about what I asked?” She exhaled and nodded.
"Yes…but I can’t just move up here and marry you…I’m not exactly sure how the whole thing works, but I know you’re supposed to be with your mate right?” George nodded silently. “Plus, telling my daughters I-they lost their father and I just-“ He rubbed her shoulder.
"I understand. As long as you’re happy Di, I’m happy for ya.” Her smile returned as his action made her calm.
“I am happy. I have my daughters, and my grandbabies, and everyone here has been so kind to me.”
“When do you return to Baltimore?” She twisted her lips seeing his sadness.
"Tomorrow morning.”
“Can I see you before you go?”
“I would love that.” She excused herself and Klaus joined his side.
"You didn’t tell her did you?” Gerorge shook his head no.
“Don’t matter anyway.”
“It doesn’t matter that you’ve found your mate after all these years?” George shook his head no again.
“She was married. She loved Martin, she was happy then and she’s happy now.” Klaus eyed him.
“Yeah but you know that’s different. Human marriages and mate bonding…I mean technically he just happened to meet her first…”
“IT.DONT.MATTER” George said silencing his brother. “They had them some beautiful babies, and he made her happy. I’m not gonna tear apart her world like that, I liked Martin too. Plus, If she says she’s happy now, I can live with that. Have since I met her at Ali’s wedding, not everything ends with a cherry on top. I’ll be just fine.” Klaus sighed.
“Whatever you say big brother, my mouth is sealed.”

“CAN I HAVE EVERYONE’S ATTENTION!” Jordan called out, silencing everyone.
“I know usually people throw parties for a special occasion, but honestly, we’ve been through so much. Births, deaths, marriages, and the growing of friends into family. So I wanted us to all come together and celebrate being alive. Being here with the ones you love. Being healthy, being stronger, being wiser. I want to celebrate us. No matter what the last name, no matter wolf, or vampire…we are family and it means so much to me to have you all by my side.”
Looking around to one another, each person understood exactly what he meant. Whether it be a Primus, Alpha’s or Betas, a Luna, human, vampire, wolf or the infamous older three and their pretty mates, they all knew the importance of family and always have one another's backs.
"Let's toast to us closing this chapter-and walking into a new one."
