Chapter 51 The Angry Hacker

Chapter 51 The Angry Hacker

During his time as a mercenary, Klein had experienced something similar.

Back then, Klein's squad was ordered to rescue hostages held by pirates. Among the hostages was a female doctor who told Klein and his team that the ship had run into pirates because someone on board had been secretly leaking their coordinates and colluding with the pirates. But they couldn't identify the traitor right away, so they asked Klein to investigate secretly.

In the end, Klein and his team successfully caught the traitor. Actually, the moment they rescued him from the pirates and he witnessed Klein capture the pirate leader alive, this traitor was already terrified. He knew that once the pirate leader revealed their deal, he would definitely face punishment.

That's why this traitor kept urging Klein to kill the pirate leader. Klein quickly noticed this strange behavior, and after some questioning, the truth came out.

"Jennifer must have realized there's a mole inside the police station. She's worried her own father might fall victim to this traitor, too. Or maybe she's afraid that if the police came to rescue her, it would completely expose her location and put her in even more danger. That's why she didn't turn to anyone else and asked me for help instead - after all, we've worked together before."

Klein stroked his chin as he shared his theory. Paul, who was driving, nodded seriously.

"I think that's very likely - that's always how it goes in movies."

Carol completely ignored Paul's joke, her eyes fixed on Klein.

"If that's really the case, then the situation is extremely dangerous. Not only can the police not help with the rescue, but they might also actually become a deadly threat. Are you willing to help rescue Jennifer?"

"No."

Klein shook his head without hesitation. Are you kidding? He'd already made up his mind to have nothing more to do with Jennifer. Plus, there were FBI special department people hiding in the police station right now.

If rescuing Jennifer got him on the authorities' radar, that would be real trouble.

"How can you be so cold and heartless? Jennifer is our friend, after all."

Carol raised her voice, glaring at Klein with disappointment in her eyes, accusing him of being too cold-blooded.

Klein's expression instantly turned cold. He held up one finger, his tone getting heavier too.

"First, Jennifer and I haven't known each other long. We're not close friends, just acquaintances. Second, I'm just the landlord here, plus your personal assistant. According to our agreement, I only need to do my job. Going into danger to rescue hostages was never part of my job. Third, you have no right to force an ordinary civilian into a life-or-death situation. Do you really think real life is as simple as TV shows?"

Each of Klein's words cut into Carol's heart like a blade, making her face go pale with anger.

Carol's chest heaved violently with anger. She wanted to argue back, but had to admit Klein was making sense - this matter had nothing to do with Klein in the first place.

Silence fell over the car again.

Seeing Carol trembling with anger, Klein finally softened and spoke up.

"If you're out of options, you can tell Kenneth about our theory. But remember - don't mention my name!"

Carol glared at Klein unhappily, but eventually took out her phone and called Kenneth. The phone rang a few times before connecting.

After Carol relayed all their theories, Kenneth, on the other end, was silent for a few seconds.

"Got it. Thanks for the tip."

With that, Kenneth hung up directly.

The car had just arrived at the villa entrance.

Everyone got out. Will was already waiting there with his security team.

"Ms. Watson, we've heard the whole story from Paul. We understand how worried and anxious you are, but Klein is right - this matter should be left entirely to the police."

Will finished speaking and glanced at Klein. His words made his position clear - even if Carol ordered them to rescue Jennifer, they wouldn't act rashly. Their only duty was to protect Carol's safety.

"I understand."

Carol lowered her head and silently walked into the villa.

After Carol left, Will turned to Klein.

"Can you find out where Jennifer is?"

Klein rolled his eyes. "What do you think I am? A magician? Should I pull out a crystal ball and do some fortune-telling? This is ridiculous. I'm just the owner of this house, not your on-call servant!"

Klein returned to his bedroom in frustration and slammed the door shut.

"This never ends. Everyone wants to cause me trouble. Ever since I posted that rental ad, I haven't had a single peaceful day."

Klein muttered complaints as he took out his phone and called Elizabeth.

It took a while for the call to connect, and immediately, a woman's furious roar came through.

"Klein, you bastard! How dare you wake me up! If you don't give me a good reason today, I'll stick an umbrella inside you and open it up!"

Klein calmly picked at his ear, his tone flat. "Help me trace a phone number. Find out the last location where this phone appeared."

A few seconds of silence, then an even more piercing roar erupted.

"I changed my mind! Forget the umbrella - I'm going to stuff a cactus covered in spikes inside you!"

Klein completely ignored her anger and calmly recited a phone number, then hung up directly.

A few minutes later, Elizabeth called back and told him a specific location.

"This is the last location where that phone showed up. I'd advise you not to go there easily. That area has always been rough - drug dealers, street thugs, addicts, pickpockets, and robbers everywhere. The security is terrible."

"Okay, got it."

Klein calmly looked up information about that area on his phone.

"I'm so unlucky to know a troublemaker like you," Elizabeth complained resentfully.

Even without seeing the screen, Klein could imagine the girl on the other end pouting angrily at her screen, like an angry mother cat.

"By the way, I found another clue. There's an unfinished building in that area called Peregrine Falcon Tower. Security footage from around the building caught a woman fleeing toward the southwest. Hope this helps."

Klein's finger suddenly stopped moving. He knew the name Peregrine Falcon all too well - when he and Jennifer were investigating stolen vehicles, those street thugs had mentioned this name.

Klein slapped his forehead in frustration. He finally remembered - he'd previously asked Jennifer to help investigate matters related to Peregrine Falcon. With that in mind, it made perfect sense that she'd turn to him for help when she had nowhere else to go.
