Chapter Two Hundred and Thirteen.
Chapter Two Hundred and Thirteen.
Epilogue 2
Ember's POV
“Come back here!” I shouted and sighed. He is energetic. Too energetic for a two year old of I may add.
“Leave him alone. Let him explore, baby.” I heard Asher say as he came in behind me in the kitchen.
“Explore what exactly? In the kitchen? One more second, and he will pull something over his own head.” I said. His nanny was not around today since it's her off day. That's why he's been like this. I've shouted my lungs out.
One minute he's a sweet boy, the next, I just can't get through to him. He's always all over the place with a mischievous smile on his face.
“Well, he's a boy.” He said as he wrapped his arms around me and I rolled my eyes. That is what he says every single time. It's almost as if he can see himself in his own son.
“Yeah, whatever. How was your day?” I said as I turned to face him. I reached up and wrapped my hand around his neck and gave him a quick kiss on the lips. I knew he would not take that, because in the next second before I was able to tear my lips away from his, he was pulling me back for a long kiss.
“Can y'all stop eating each other's faces in front of your baby?” Freya said from the door and I pulled away from him with a blush creeping up my neck. Asher was not attempting to let go, but he turned to her.
“Don't be a cockblocker now.” He said to her and she wiggled her eyebrows.
“Whatever. Let's get out of here baby Leo.” She said to Leo who looked really excited to do so. “We will be at the poolside if you need us. That's if you do.” She said and walked away from there leaving the both of us to it.
“Why is she living in my house again?” He asked.
“Because she wants to and everyone loves her presence. Including you even if you won't admit it.” I teased with a sneaky smile on my face.
“How are you today? I really missed you.” He said and I laughed.
“You still saw me this morning.” I replied. Since he started going back to work a little over a year ago, he's been saying the same line over and over again that I'm used to it already.
He's made me know what love actually is. I don't get to think about the age gap between us at all. He gives me all I want. My space, respect, love, care. Even things that I don't know I needed In all aspects of a life and I really appreciate him for it.
Except for one thing. And I don't know how to get him to give it to me. Anytime we had an argument, it was basically because of that thing.
“My day was good. Running around in the garage as usual, but then, I came back earlier to make you something.”
“I can smell it already. I'm farmished. Is it ready?” He asked as he started to take off his leather jacket that he had on.
“What? Here in my kitchen? Nope. Go inside and come back out when you're done.” I scolded and he pouted a little before doing so.
I should call Freya to come eat but since she's with Leo for his pool lessons, nothing could pull her away from him, so instead, I dished his food and served it on the table.
In a few minutes, he was going out. His hair tousled over in a ruffled manner that made him look younger. My heart did a flip flop in my chest, but then, I stopped the feelings as he sat down and I sat back beside him.
“Aren't you eating?” He asked me, concern in his eyes.
“I'm good. I don't feel like eating at the moment.” I said and I saw his eyes widened.
“Y…you're not pregnant are you?” He asked, his voice breaking with a little fear in it. Disappointment flooded my veins as I heard the tone he used. He's scared. I get it. I understand more than anything, but it's been two years already. He should be able to get over that already. He was terrified two years back, watching and holding my hand as I gave birth to his child. I guess the memories hasn't left him yet.
“Nope. Not like I've checked. But I know I'm not.” I said to him with a smile on my face.
He nodded tightly after a while and started to eat without saying anything. His body language was different from what was there before and I knew that got to him.
Here is the thing, the last and only pregnancy I had which was obviously Leo, I spent almost twenty four hours in labor. I thought I would die. What started off as a smooth sailing thing, ended in a lot of tears and screams.
It got to a point that Asher had to step out saying that he could not look at the pain I was going through at that moment but he
gathered enough courage to come back in the labor room.
