Chapter 122

Chapter 122

Memories hit Rachel like a tidal wave, leaving her a bit overwhelmed.

Rachel admitted that the past was something she couldn't shake, and every time she thought about it, she couldn't help but feel a sense of joy.

That was probably why she could never forget Kevin.

When Rachel snapped back to reality, the car had already stopped.

She looked up and met Kevin's intense gaze.

After a moment of silent eye contact, Kevin said, "We're here. Time to get out."

Rachel quickly opened the car door and stepped out.

Sarah, who was sitting next to her, followed suit.

The wind outside was strong, and Rachel's thin clothing did little to shield her from it.

Kevin tossed his jacket over to her, andRachel instinctively caught it with both hands.

"You're giving me your jacket instead of wearing it yourself?"

"Yeah, just trying to be nice, stepmom."

Kevin's kindness today made her feel like she was back in the past, as if the old Kevin had returned, the boy who was always cheerful and mischievous, but only in front of her.

Rachel wrapped the jacket around herself.

Sarah whispered, "Are you two a couple?"

Seeing the misunderstanding, Rachel pressed her lips together and shook her head. "No, we're not a couple. He's my stepson."

"But why do I feel like you two are super close?" Sarah pointed at Kevin in the car and then at Rachel.

Rachel found Sarah's gesture endearing and said, "It's not what you think."

"Okay." Sarah didn't say anything more and walked towards the airport.

Rachel glanced at the car parked outside the airport and let out a sigh.

Was it really that obvious between her and Kevin?

Rachel decided to be more cautious in the future.

If outsiders thought their relationship was ambiguous, what would Isaac think?

As they entered the airport terminal, Rachel's phone rang.

It was Daisy. "Did you pick her up?"

"Yeah, I got Sarah."

"Great, I'm on my way to the airport with Curtis. We'll be there soon."

Rachel acknowledged and led Sarah to the waiting area inside the airport.

"Rachel, you're such a good person. If it weren't for you, I don't think I would have made it out." Sarah looked at Rachel seriously.

Rachel smiled and waved her hand. "When you see your dad, don't argue with him anymore. You probably don't know how much he's helped me. He's actually a really good person. If it weren't for him..."

"Sarah!" Curtis's voice echoed from a distance.

Sarah quickly got up and ran over.

He hugged Sarah, looking her over with a worried expression. "Did anyone hurt you? Tell me, did they hurt you?"

"No, Rachel saved me just in time." Sarah pulled away from Curtis and looked at Rachel.

Curtis, unable to hide his gratitude, said to Rachel, "Thank you so much, Rachel. You saved my daughter. Your family has always been good to us."

"About your parents' case, we've found all the clues, but they were buried and locked away by higher-ups."

Rachel took a deep breath as Curtis revealed the hidden truth.

Curtis wiped away his tears. "Isaac was warned by the investigation team about the pollution from his factory. Your parents worked for that agency."

"But Isaac, wanting to keep his factory running, used his connections to cover it up."

Rachel was stunned.

"Your parents tried to stop him and were about to submit the evidence to the government. That's when the car accident happened, and they..."

Curtis's words confirmed what Rachel had suspected after seeing the documents from Camila.

"The case was full of suspicions, and all the evidence pointed to Isaac. But even when the truth was about to come out, the higher-ups didn't want your parents' deaths to be revealed."

Curtis handed Rachel a USB drive.

"This USB contains the names of the officials involved in your parents' case. It will be hard to investigate, but with this, you can bring Isaac to justice."

Rachel held the warm USB tightly. "Thank you."

"It's my duty. I'm an old cop. I couldn't just watch your parents die unjustly. They were good people."

"I couldn't sleep at night, knowing I had to get to the bottom of it. But I didn't expect Isaac to target my daughter!"

Curtis's eyes filled with tears.

Rachel felt grateful. "Take your daughter and leave. Once you're settled, let me know you're safe. Let's end this here."

"What about your parents' case?"

"This is my problem. I'll handle it."

Curtis wiped his tears and held Rachel's hand. "But what about you? How will you manage alone?"

"I'll find a way. Don't worry." Rachel looked at Curtis seriously.

Curtis shook his head. "This is too dangerous for you alone."

The announcement for their flight came over the speakers.

Curtis wanted to say more.

Rachel firmly instructed, "Mr. Robinson, pretend this never happened. Don't get involved. I don't want my parents' case to affect you and your daughter."

"When you get abroad, I'll send you some money."

Curtis waved his hand. "No need. I have money. The White family gave me $1.5 million in compensation for the house."

"Alright, safe travels."

Sarah waved goodbye to Rachel.

As Rachel watched them go through security, Rachel felt a weight lift from her shoulders.
