Chapter 121

Chapter 121

In the car.

Rachel and Sarah were sitting in the back seat, while Kevin was driving up front.

He glanced at the rearview mirror, noticing Rachel's stern expression.

With a cold tone, he said, "Why the face? I'm the one who saved you guys, and now I'm driving you around. Rachel, do I owe you money or something? Can't you be a little nicer?"

Rachel huffed, her nostrils flaring.

She glared at Kevin. "Just focus on driving!"

Kevin didn't say anything more to them.

He treated Rachel so well, yet she showed no appreciation and was sulking here.

Had he spoiled her too much?

Annoyed, Kevin turned on the car's music.

Rock music filled the enclosed space, the heavy metal vocals echoing inside, making Rachel's head throb.

She glanced at Kevin and took a deep breath.

Sarah was visibly shaken.

She always felt Kevin had some kind of mental issue.

Sure, he was good-looking, but he was definitely not normal.

Otherwise, why would he be so moody, switching from good to bad in an instant?

Rachel opened the window to get some air, the warm breeze blowing through her hair, bringing back some memories.

She knew Kevin liked rock music.

Back in college, Kevin had formed a band.

At first, the band recruited quite a few members, all of whom shared his love for heavy metal music.

Kevin's aloof personality made it hard to believe he was secretly a rock enthusiast.

She remembered the day she brought him lunch and saw him playing the drums in the classroom.

She waited at the door, not wanting to interrupt.

Kevin must have noticed her presence. He deliberately played the drums louder, almost making Rachel drop the lunchbox in surprise.

After finishing, Kevin lazily got up and opened the door. "Is it food from the cafeteria again?"

"Eat it or throw it away!" Rachel handed him the pink lunchbox, which had a Hello Kitty sticker on it.

Initially, Kevin disliked the little cat and tried to peel it off, but Rachel stopped him.

She loved Sanrio's Hello Kitty and insisted Kevin use it too.

Kevin had reluctantly accepted the lunchbox, but he hadn't forgotten about the sticker.

Seeing Kevin's hand moving towards it, Rachel frowned and tapped his knuckles with the utensil box. "What are you doing?"

"Just eating."

Kevin sheepishly moved his hand away.

Rachel pouted. "Don't peel off the sticker!"

"Fine, I won't."

Kevin opened the lunchbox to find ribs covered in barbecue sauce.

He was pleasantly surprised. "This doesn't look like cafeteria food. Did you make it?"

Rachel nodded. "I thought the cafeteria food was bad, so I cooked for you."

Kevin leaned in and kissed her cheek. "Did you eat?"

"Yeah, I did. I made a lot of ribs and ate a bunch. There's just a little left, lucky you."

Kevin picked the biggest piece and held it to Rachel's mouth. "Who knows if your ribs are poisoned? You gotta taste them first, or I won't eat."

Rachel saw the rib near her mouth and puffed up in anger. "Why would I poison you?"

"Just taste it, or I won't feel safe."

Kevin knew Rachel's frugal nature. She wouldn't have eaten the ribs herself.

Rachel didn't have much money. Her student loans were almost gone.

Kevin suspected she spent all her money on the ribs for him and was probably hungry herself, which he couldn't stand.

Rachel took the rib and started eating.

Seeing her enjoy it, Kevin thought it might be easy to take care of Rachel—just feed her like a little hamster.

Rachel finished eating and realized Kevin hadn't eaten any ribs. He kept picking out pieces, saying they were too tough or had too much sauce.

Rachel ended up eating most of the ribs.

When she realized this, it was too late.

Rachel turned away, cheeks puffed. "Kevin, you're being too much."

"How?"

"These ribs were for you, but you fed them all to me, and you kept complaining. If you don't like them, just tell me!"

"I'll never cook for you again!" Rachel stood up to leave.

Kevin grabbed her arm and pulled her into his embrace.

Rachel bumped into his chest, seeing stars.

Kevin smiled softly, took a rib, and ate it. "Happy now?"

"But you don't know how much effort I put into making this food, I even missed a class. How could you do this to me?"

Rachel angrily pinched his waist.

Kevin, eating the rib, almost choked.

He coughed, and Rachel quickly got him some water, patting his back.

Rachel frowned. "Can't you be careful when eating?"

Kevin felt a little better. "You almost killed me."

"Serves you right!"

Kevin quickly finished the food. He looked at Rachel seriously. "Do you need money?"

"I don't need money. I have a part-time job and some savings..."

Before she could finish, Kevin handed her a card.

"Take this card. Consider it payment for cooking."

Rachel frowned. "I'm not your hired cook. Why give me a card?"

"You cook, so I want you to cook every day."

"Kevin, you're so bad!"

Kevin laughed, unable to hold back. "Yeah, I'm the worst person in the world. And now that you're my girlfriend, I'll be even worse!"

He hugged her waist, pulling her closer.

"What are you doing?"

"No one's here. We can do whatever we want."
