Chapter 129: Final Enemy

Achilles’ Point of View:

“She didn’t cheat on you, Achilles!” Lucy shouted and my eyes snapped in her direction.

“What are you saying?” I asked, my mind fogged by the words she was speaking. I didn’t want to talk about her, or the topic she was speaking on—let alone made me question the reality.

“She told me. She told me that Mr. Roman had forced her to say that to you. And I know that I wasn’t supposed to tell you this, but I couldn’t bear to know the truth and still go home to my husband while you didn’t get to go home to your wife. She told me that she had to do it because your father said that if she didn’t, he’d kill you.” She said in one breath as she looked at me.

My eyebrows rose at her words, my hearts beating against my chest in a loud thump. What?

“Ar—Are you sure?”

“Yes!” She exclaimed. “I know Isabelle. And I trust her enough with the time that I had known her, that she wouldn’t lie about something like that. If you trust her like I do, go back to her now.”

Her words had rendered me speechless. I was still in thoughts about everything. Why would he even do that to Isabelle? Why would he ask her to do something so terrible to me? What did he get out of it?

“Thank you for telling me, Lucy,” I said as my thoughts ran wild in my brain. I needed to do something before it was too late.

She nodded and smiled. “You two love each other, Achilles. Everyone can see that. All you need is trust. I trust my husband enough that even if I ever caught him with a different woman in front of my eyes, I wouldn’t believe it. Now I’m not saying that that’s the best thing, it would probably get you hurt but it is alright if it’s toward someone you know will never hurt you intentionally.”

I nodded as I processed her words and realised she was right. We had always fallen apart because we didn’t trust each other enough. “Thank you.”

She smiled at me. “Goodbye, Achilles.”

“Goodbye.”

She left the base too and it was time. I walked over to the IT guy still working. “Find Isabelle’s location.”

Isabelle’s Point of View:

“Yeah, I’m better, ma!” I said as I chuckled. My mother had been worried sick about my back, even though it was almost healed now. She wouldn’t believe me at all, even though the scars looked like an old wound.

She nodded. “Okay.”

“And by—” I was interrupted by the doorbell. “I got it,” I said as I went over to the door and opened it.

Achilles stood there with his eyes tired as he looked over at me. “Isabelle.” He breathed out my name almost as easily as the first time he had spoken it.

“Achilles?” I asked, scared and shocked why he was here. Was he here because the supposed highest bidder wanted me back?

“Isabelle. Tell me. Tell me it was all a lie like Lucy said.”

My eyes widened. Lucy told him? He knew?

“I…”

“The war’s ended. The mafia’s done with. I’m safe. Tell me now,” he insisted.

I gasped and my smile widened, and I let out a small chuckle. “Yes. Yes it was all a fucking lie, Achilles. I would never ever hurt you let alone cheat on you. I fucking love you, Achilles and—”

I couldn’t complete my sentence when he embraced me in a longing kiss. I melted in his embrace as endorphins filled my brain with ecstasy. He pulled me in as if he wanted to make our two souls one, as he had been hungry for ages and he could die in me.

“Oh God, how long I had waited to hear those words…” He said as he pulled back. “But I—I don’t understand. Why did… Why did he force you to do this?”

“He said I was distracting you from the war,” I said as I exhaled. “I didn’t know what else to do, Achilles.”

“I know,” He said as something went through his mind faster than I could comprehend. “Do you trust me, Isabelle?”

I nodded and smiled. “One hundred percent.”

“Okay. Wait for me at my place and I’ll be back in a couple of hours. Trust me, you’ll not regret this.”

I smiled. “Okay, I will, Achilles.”

He shared a look with mom who appeared from behind me to check on who was at the door before rushing off to his car and driving off.

“What happened?” she asked me as the door closed and I turned around.

“I got my husband back.”

Achilles’ Point of View:

I was driving at a very high speed to my father’s place. I was done with his fucking plays. He had destroyed my life more times than I could count on my fingers. He had fucked me over and over again, made me hurt in ways I wouldn’t wish on even my worst enemies. He was not a father, he was not even human.

I had to kill him if I ever wanted to be happy with anyone, or be happy at all. He deserved that for taking Isabelle from me. He deserved that for what he did to Isabelle and to everyone I ever loved or cared about. No one could ever keep him behind bars even if they had all the power because of his connections and his money. There was only one thing that could stop him, and that was death.

I asked a few of my friends in my now-dismantled mafia for a friendly favor, and called them all to the Roman Mansion.

I stormed the place. With my skills that I had harboured in my time in the mafia along with the professionals with my side—I was able to get past the security. The best thing was that he wasn’t expecting me, and the surprise element always did wonders.

I saw my father sitting right in front of me while I pointed a gun at him.

“I’m your father!” He shouted as he hid the stress behind his smirk. He knew I was gonna kill him as much as I did.

“Not anymore. This is for Isabelle.” And with that, my father’s forehead was shot and he fell down, marking the death of my final enemy.
