Chapter 129: Revelation

Isabelle’s Point of View:

I looked up and found Lucy standing. She gave me a hand, and helped me stand up. I slowly managed to stand on my feet, still lunging forward like a junkie.

“Who—who was the highest bidder? Do you know?” I asked as I was dying to know who I was supposed to be a slave for.

She smiled. “No one told me who it was, but whoever it was gave the highest money to the main mafia bank and set you free.”

“What?” I thought she was kidding.

“Yes,” She smiled again, this time wider. “There was an anonymous message on the table just after the bidding. It was to me, and it said that I should let you know that the highest bidder had decided to let you go.”

I smiled and managed to hug her. She hugged me back carefully, knowing that my back must be hurting. I couldn’t believe someone actually paid the money just to free me. Who would do something like that? There was no one in the Mafia who would take my side after what I had “allegedly” done, right?

I didn’t have time to ponder. My mom was waiting for me back at her home—she had left weeks ago, and now I was free to go.

“Go, Isabelle,” she said to me and smiled. “I’m sure we’ll meet again someday.”

I smiled back at her. “Keep in touch, Lucy.”

She nodded. I took the opportunity before the man changed his mind, and left the mafia base as fast as I could with my broken back. Well, it mustn't be broken else I wouldn’t be able to walk—but it sure felt like it was.

I took a cab ride back home. Mom had shifted back to her old house as the new one was in that monster’s name. I couldn’t wait to see her—at least after feeling like I wouldn’t ever be able to.

Achilles’ Point of View:

“Boss, we need you back on the field.” One of my men called me.

“I’ll be back in a few hours,” I said as I walked over to the soldiers I had brought back with me. “Those of you who are ready enough, we need to go back right now.”

A few of them were ready. I left immediately with them.

A MONTH LATER...

“This is with as much pleasure as it is with disgust, Anna,” I said as I pointed a gun at her heart, standing as close as one would to a lover. “Remember that even with the best mafia in the world, you lost. You lost because you have nothing of your own. You ruined a perfect Mafia team with your incompetent leadership. You ruined perfection.”

She looked at me with gritted teeth. “Just kill me!”

“Oh I will,” I said as I chuckled. “After all, your entire Mafia’s dead.”

Her eyes were full of hatred, just seconds before they were white and lifeless. I shot her right at the heart and she fell down on the ground, lifeless. As her body fell to the ground, a weight lifted off my shoulders. I had done it.

I stepped back and turned around to see my men. I lost a few of them to the war, but most of them were standing and proud.

We had done something no Mafia had ever done, or even thought of doing. Sure, we needed help from a few other Mafia groups who were ready to do anything to get The Blood Ravens out of the way—but in the end, we fought and we won.

All my enemies were dead now.

“We won!” I shouted out loud and everyone cheered. As the cheers died down, we boarded a plane back to Kansas, to our base, packing up everything and bringing everyone home.

We reached the base in a few hours. As soon as we reached there, everyone called for a celebration—but I had a surprise gift no one even imagined they’d get. I hadn’t told anyone that they would be free of this Mafia as soon as we defeated The Blood Ravens to stop anyone from going rogue and try something stupid on their own—but now it was the happiest surprise.

“On account of doing something no one has ever done,” I said to everyone who was now in the main room. “I now dismantle this Mafia group. You all are free to go back to your lives, your families, and live a life of peace you once knew. All your profits and monies will be deposited in your banks by tomorrow. This is the day of your freedom.”

Cheers roared through the room as I smiled. They were all happy—of course they were. They got paid for five years of loyalty, and now were set free with the same amount of money for just a few months' time, with an experience of a lifetime.

I thought I’d be the happiest. I thought so, because in all the time I was this Mafia boss, I wanted everything to end so I could go back to my life. To my people.

Now when I thought about it, there was no one to go back to.

The celebration went on for several hours as a few people left every few minutes. Slowly, they were returning to people who had been waiting for them. Families, loved ones, friends or even just people they knew.

As the night wore on, I sat in my room at the base. It was supposed to be my last night here—I was going back to my apartment the next day, after wiping every last trace of our existence as a mafia group. Some of my IT guys were still working, just cleaning up every online trace of us.

I didn’t expect anyone until Lucy knocked on the door.

“Come in, Lucy,” I said as I opened the door. She looked at me with a small smile as she entered.

“Can we talk?”

“Sure.” I said as I gestured to her to sit. I didn’t know what she wanted to talk about at all. She should be home with Robert—with the love of her life. Because someone actually stayed together through everything.

“It’s about Isabelle.”

“I don’t want to hear her name,” I stood up abruptly, anger flaring in my veins as soon as her name was mentioned.

“She didn’t cheat on you, Achilles!”
