Chapter 108 - My Rebellious Luna
BECKY POV
I can’t seem to stop shaking. The reality of how close I came to being beaten to a bloody pulp by the same asshole again is setting in hard. It had to be the stupidest idea I ever had. So many things could have gone wrong. I could have missed and he could hurt my baby.
Luke’s idea of sending me away is starting to make sense now. In fact, if it wasn’t for the explosion, which I’m sure wasn’t a coincidence, I would still be listening to that idiot whine about the codes to the bunker. Thank you sweet baby Jesus for giving me a cousin like Jerry. I’m sure it was him. He always liked fire. I will do my best to treat him right going forward.
After he set it off, I took off. Hiding in the one place I thought no one would look for me and so far I’m right. This very small space underneath the porch was my safe haven. The only bad thing is I can’t see anything and I’m scared to mindlink someone, distracting them and getting them killed. It’s so quiet that you would never guess we were mid attack.
At least we seem to be getting control of the situation. My parents are safe in the bunker. If Matt’s free, that means the warriors are too. Luke is finally here and Adam won’t be able to use me or the pack against him. I don’t want to start celebrating just yet, but things are looking up at the moment.
Although, this is nothing like I imagined it would be. The most action today was when chopped Hugh head off. Which is fine by me, but I assumed there would be a huge fight with blood and gore. I’m relieved that’s not the case, but I never thought Adam would be so methodical.
He knew he wouldn’t be able to beat us head on since we had twice as many warriors. That’s why he got my parents involved. I just prayed no one shifted in front of them. That was the only good thing about Adam’s methods. He probably would have been a good ally had things been different.
Maybe if Alpha Liam and Luna Rose allowed him to be a part of their lives. He could have built a relationship with Luke and they could have been brothers. Then again, I have no idea what his life was like, or what caused him to go “The Good Son” on Luke.
I’m starting to think that maybe we defeated Dark Shadows. The smell of burning wood and smoke is too strong and can’t be good for the baby. “Stay put, our pup is safer here.” Celeste warned. I guess I wasn’t too subtle with my intentions. She’s right though, just a little bit longer and I will be with my mate and our pack.
The sound of light footsteps gets my attention. They are very close but I can tell they are trying not to make a sound. The earth below them crunches slowly as they start at the heel of their foot and slowly land on the ball, then the toes. There is no way I’d be able to hear that if they weren’t right next to me.
Our hearing is heightened but this person is barely making a sound. “There you are!” Shit! That’s not my mate. I try to go deeper under the porch but I’m running out of room and a large hand wraps around my ankle. “LUKE! He’s got me!” I mindlike hoping he’s not too far from here.
Just in case. “Matt, Adam found me!” Hopefully one of them can get to me in time. Adam begins to drag me out but I manage to hold onto a wooden post. Neither Luke or Matt answered, but I’m hoping it’s because they are on their way to get me.
ALPHA ADAM POV
I caught myself a little mouse! Hiding near the burning buildings appeared to be a popular idea. She’s smart, I will give her that. Not only did it hide our scent, but most wouldn’t think of searching somewhere that is on fire. That’s why it would have been the first place I looked. That’s what makes me better than these chumps.
It was comical to see her hold on to a piece of wood for dear life as I pulled her out. “Let go!” She kicked her foot out, nearly hitting me. I took the offending foot and twisted her ankle until I heard a glorious pop. “Ahhh!” She screamed in pain, letting go of the wooden post she was clinging onto. She would heal in a few hours but the pain had her in tears.
If I hadn’t just seen her slice the head off of one of the toughest rogues I ever met, I’d be fooled into thinking she was harmless. Good thing I knew better. When I flipped her over she looked furious and I was sure she was going to start that mouthing off again. Too bad for her. I was done talking.
As soon as I had her completely out and in front of me, I punched her in her cute little face. She fell back dazed, not completely out of it but it will do. “Hijo.. de.. puta. (Motherfucker.)” She mumbled some gibberish and groaned in pain.
Throwing her over my shoulder, I walked down to the front of the pack house. There was no need for me to continue to hide anymore. This has been drawn out too long and I’m ready for this to end. Or to finally begin, seeing as I saved the best for last.
She was going to be my leverage in obtaining this pack. Along with every warrior and pack member. As I neared the entrance of the pack house I saw my warriors chained up, surrounded by the Golden Moon warriors. They take one look at their Luna on my shoulder and resist the urge to attack.
My final surprise should be getting here soon. “Release my warriors and stand down!” I ordered. There are only about half of my warriors left, but that doesn’t matter. The Golden moon warriors hesitate too long for my liking. “Unless you want me to introduce you to your future Alpha ahead of time, do as you're told!” I growled.
The forty or so warriors from Golden Moon release my surviving warriors, a mere thirty. Even though I’ve lost over half of my warriors, I’m not worried. “Where is your Alpha!” I ask, but before they can answer, two men approach from behind me. “Release my Luna!” The Gamma orders and I can’t help but laugh at his timing. The fun is just beginning.
