Chapter 104 - My Rebellious Luna
BECKY POV
My heart stopped and my world nearly shattered. Our warriors began to surround the area, ready to attack. They were all waiting for our signal. Matt looked confused, wondering why I didn’t give them the go. But I couldn’t. “Mama? Papa? (Mom? Dad?).” I couldn’t believe he managed to get his hands on my parents. How?
Adam pulled my mother closer and looked at our warriors. I understood his silent instruction. My pack was safe behind the bunker doors. What about the warriors? What would he do to them? My eyes kept darting around trying to figure out a way to save my parents and ensure the safety of my warriors. “Chose your parent’s Becky, this pack is already doomed.” Naomi laughed from behind me.
She was no longer being held by the two rogues. “There is a tunnel in the bunker that leads to Tom’s diner.” She told Adam smugly. Instantly, thirty warriors ran into the tree line. If I stalled, maybe Luke could get here in time. “Now Luna! Tell your warriors to stand down and kneel!” Adam barked at me.
“I will only have them stand down if you give me your word that you won’t harm them.” I tried to seem strong but I was so scared he would hurt my mom that my hands were shaking. “You are in no position to make demands Luna!” He laughed and put his hand on my mother’s throat making her yelp. “Stop!” I yelled and held my tears back.
There were so many questions in my mother’s eyes. She wasn’t just scared and confused, she looked like she didn’t recognize me. As if I was someone completely different from the person she knew. I worst part is I couldn’t comfort her and tell her that I was still me and that I was going to do everything in my power to protect them.
Letting out a shaky breath, I made a choice. “Stand down and kneel!” I ordered. Like dominos, they all went down, even Matt. It broke my heart to do this to them. “Now let my parents go!” Dark Shadows warriors ran around chaining my warriors with silver before I finished my request. “Why would I do that? Threatening them is keeping you compliant.” He let go of my mother, who ran to my father and hugged him.
Three huge warriors surrounded my parents. “Take our prisoners to the pack house. Make sure all of them are chained securely.” Adam ordered, and began to walk towards me. I felt a sense of relief that he didn’t automatically kill anyone, but I wasn’t fooling myself. We were all leverage and he wouldn’t need us for much longer. The grand finale would take place as soon as Luke got here.
He was inches away from me now. Sniffing me from where he was, a huge smile spread on his face. He didn’t seem surprised, he knew about my pup. “My little brother would kneel before me and give me this pack as soon as he arrives. Seeing as I have his most prized possessions. His Luna and his pup.” Grabbing me by the arm, he dragged me towards the pack house.
I turned to see the warriors lifted to their feet and, in groups of five, formed a line that followed us. Matt caught my eye and gave me a curt nod. Did he have something planned? Goddess I hoped so. My parents looked pale and confused. How was I going to explain this? Did they know what we were? I still didn’t have a clue how they got them all the way here.
Adam and I walked up the stairs while the Dark Shadows warriors led their “prisoners” to the dining hall. We outnumbered them and we were still at their mercy. Now I wasn’t sure if Luke coming would be a good thing. Would he give up the pack just to save me? I’m so stupid. I should have gone into the bunker the second we knew they were coming. On second thought, I probably would have demanded they let me out as soon as I saw my parents.
MATT POV
This was never going to go our way. They’ve had an ace in their hand since they got Becky’s parents. There is no way they went all the way to Acton to get them. They somehow got them to come here. Luke and Becky kept them away from here, not only because they couldn’t know about us, but to keep them safe. They never considered they would be brought here somehow.
They looked confused and lost as they sat on the floor clutching each other. The warriors don’t seem to see them as a threat. Considering they are huddled in the corner avoiding anyone’s gaze, I would have to agree. There are ten warriors in total watching us while sixty are somewhere out there waiting for Luke to arrive.
We are sitting in groups of five, scattered in the dining hall. They used long chains to tie us together, making it easier to watch us. That also would make it easier to escape. All we had to do was unhook the clevis hook and the chains would fall, freeing five of us. Unfortunately, the silver has weakened us to the point that we can’t struggle against the chains to get to the hook.
I can’t seem to formulate a plan or think of a way out of this. I’m too distracted wondering if Becky’s okay. Pissed off that Naomi continues to betray me and her former pack. This has been a shitty year. Taking a deep breath, I got my bearings again. I remind myself that things could be worse, we could be dead right now.
My mind drifts back to what Nai said when we dropped Hugh off in the dungeon. “I’m going to prove to you that I was worth keeping. That you should have never rejected me.” She managed to do just the opposite. We’re lucky the tunnel door at Tom’s is reinforced and requires a code. There is no way they are getting through to our pack members.
