Chapter 184 Another Strike

Chapter 184 Another Strike
Selena's POV

I could hear the mockery in his voice when he asked me if I hit my head somewhere, but that wasn't what I cared about right now. What I was most afraid of was how he could look me in the face and tell me to call his father with such confidence.

If there was any leverage I ever had against Lex, it was the fact that I could always use his father's person to threaten him, and each time he tried to do something wrong, I would threaten him by saying I'd call his father, and he'd completely comply with what I wanted.

Yet here he stood before me, holding this girl's hand and asking me to call his father, claiming nothing was going to happen.

"Deny it all you want, Lex; I have always cared about you, and you know that, but it is you who never gives a damn, and that is fucking annoying!"

I saw the way he was staring at me, the way he looked completely unconcerned. This was not the Lex I know; this was a completely different person, someone I have never met before. I was getting used to him being headstrong since this girl came, but I never knew he was going to get to this level where every trace of fear I saw in his eyes completely disappeared and he would look me in the face and tell me to do whatever I wanted, yet he did not care?

"You are wasting my time, Selena; if you want to do this, you had better do it now because I'm about to walk away."

He was giving me time? He was giving me time to call his own father, whom he is always very afraid of?

I almost asked him what happened to him, but I knew that asking him such a question was only going to make me look weak and make it obvious to him that I had completely lost all my leverage on him, and that was not an advantage I wanted to give him, not even in the slightest.

"You do not tell me what to do, Lex, and I promise you I am going to deal with this, but I think I have better ways to do it, so go on and do whatever it is you want to do with her because this might actually be the last time you get to hold hands like this." My voice came out sharp and confident, not because I knew exactly what I was going to do; as a matter of fact, I had no idea yet what I was going to do. I just wanted them to think that I had something in plan.

Knowing Lex very well, if he thought I had a plan, he would immediately begin to stage a counter-plan, and that was exactly what I wanted him to do. I wanted to drive his attention somewhere else and buy myself time to think of exactly what I would do to him.

"You do realise that this is very absurd?" She finally spoke up. For the whole time she stood where she stood in silence, but now she was speaking. She was looking at me, and she was talking to me?

"Excuse me, did someone say something?" I asked, glancing around to be sure I had heard right, but then she broke free from holding Lex's hand and stepped forward to me wearing some sort of confidence that I have never seen in her before. Wait, maybe I have. On the very first day when she confronted Lex about how he treated the fellow student, for a moment I thought she was invincible, only to know that she was one vulnerable thing, and now she was trying to play the same game with me?

Lex may have been soft with her; he may have even fallen for her in the process, but I would break her. I swear I would break her into so many pieces that it would be completely impossible to put them back together.

"I am talking to you, Selena. I think this is very irritating how you are trying to throw yourself on someone so bad no matter how much they let you know that they do not want you. Do you not have any self-respect left for yourself? Do you not have the integrity to think that you are worth more than this?" Her voice was low, yet those words were as sharp as a sword that pierced me so deeply I wanted to slap her across the face.

Before I could process that thought, I already did; my hands landed quickly on her cheek as I slapped her hard, making her stagger backwards, and it gave me a satisfaction I never thought I'd feel.

"Next time before you think you can open your smelly mouth to talk to me, you should think about what I am going to do to you, and you're very lucky that Lex is here, or else I could have..."

There was a loud resounding slap. Twice at first I didn't feel it; I thought maybe someone else was being slapped, but then the pain came in like a wash as the breeze brushed my face, and my two hands flew to my face, holding my cheeks as I stared at Alex, who returned the slap. My eyes were getting wet.

"Did he just slap me because of her?" That was the first question I asked myself in my head. This was the height of it; I couldn't take it any more than this. If he could raise his hand without fear of what the consequences would be and hit me across the face, then it was over. I was really going to make him pay this time.

"Now before you think you can raise your hand to touch anyone, especially someone I love and care about, you should think about the consequences, Selena. You are lucky that you're just a girl; else I would have already locked you up and made you go through severe pain for what you've done.

"Did you just slap me because of this lowlife? Do you know what you've done, Lex?"
