Chapter 182 Series Display
Chapter 182 Series Display
Lex's POV
I couldn't tell exactly why she was so kind this morning and spoke about my father as if he was not the same monster who tormented our lives in the past for weeks, but then I didn't want to go into an argument with her, nor did I want to make my father's topic rob us of the joy we were supposed to have that morning.
After a few seconds, I looked out of the window before glancing back at him, knowing very well she was expecting me to say something in response.
"You do realise that it is a very beautiful morning and we are supposed to talk about things that make me happy instead of talking about someone who doesn't care about anyone else but himself?" I asked her, but the way she rolled her eyes, moving her gaze away from now staring out of the window, I knew very well I must have pissed her off.
"Fine. "I am going to tell you everything that happened if you only promise me one thing," I said to her, and slowly she turned her face to me again. I could see that smile even though it was faded, very lightly curling up on the corner of her lips, and it gave me so much joy.
"Okay, what is this condition?" She asked, now smiling brightly; I could see her beautiful teeth.
"I want you to promise me that you are not going to take his side or say anything that is going to be in his favour," I said to her, staring at her as I waited for her response.
And why are you so bothered about that, Lex? I mean, it doesn't even matter whether I say good things about him or not."
I knew she was going to say this. I knew that she was going to try to say words that could possibly fix the issue between me and my father, but that was not going to happen.
"Because he's not worthy of it, Lisa, and also I am not going to feel good if you try to talk good about him; he doesn't deserve any of it."
She was silent for a few seconds, but slowly she nodded her head in agreement, and even though she did not say the word, I believed her.
"Go ahead and tell me; you look like you didn't have any sleep last night, and I was very worried about you. I mean, I stayed up for most of the nights until I fell asleep, only to wake up to see that you had already responded to the messages I left you," she said to me.
"Yeah, I could hardly sleep. I kept thinking about everything he said to me and how he clearly told me that he was going to ruin your life. He knows now that aside from you there is nothing else we can talk me down with, and I don't care. I don't care what he is planning to do; I am going to beat him at his game. "I am not going to let him hurt you, Lisa, I promise," I said, grabbing the steering wheel even tightly as my knuckle turned pale.
" i have always blamed myself thinking if I was out at the picture at all all of these wouldn't be but then I realised that the problem with you two is that the both of you are not finding a common ground to fix some things. Lex whatever is going to happen I promise I'll be here, I am going to be here by your side and I'll help you in this no matter how it is"
Hearing those words from her felt like the only thing I needed to get all of those evil words my father had implanted in my mind from last night away. It's wiped them away like the monsters in a nightmare, and I was just waking up. I turned my gaze to her and nodded my head in agreement. Of course I believe her. I believe she was going to stand by me; I believe she wasn't going to quit, and neither was I.
We drove into the school gate, and just as I stepped out of the car, I rushed over to her side and opened the door to her before she could do it herself, and I could already sense the presence of a few classmates around us. We were not all wolves; some of us were humans, but the wolves dominated, and I could smell different scents.
"What are you doing, Alex? This is very unnecessary." She whispered to me as she stepped out of the car, hanging the backpack on her shoulder.
"My father thinks he can play games with me. I'm going to give him an entire series to watch." I am going to show him what it actually means to protect someone you care about, and maybe, just maybe, he's going to grab a few things from this."
" you know is not that bad right, at least he gave you a few other thing you needed accept himself"
" and none of those things made sense unless he was there. I will always pick the company of a loved one over even the most expensive things, and even if he had given me just his presence and left the other thing out, I'll be grateful to him until tomorrow, but I know he does not care, and neither do I now." I said, walking closer to her now as I leaned in and kissed her on the cheek.
"Okay, now people are staring, and you are very much creating a scene, Lex. I guess this is what you want?" She asked me, and without a word, I winked at her, taking her hand in mine as I led her away from the school parking garage.
"What exactly is this supposed to mean, Lex? Are you completely out of your mind now, or are you just trying to see what I am going to do to you this time?" Selena's loud voice echoed into my ear as we walked into the first floor.
"Step out of my way, Selena; I have no business with you," I said to her, still holding Lisa's hand in mine.
