Chapter eight : After Party
Chapter eight : After Party
I started eating my ice cream and headed towards the hall where the party was taking place.
The doors to the mansion were open, and I saw him for the first time. Blake!
There really wasn't anything human about him...
His thin, athletic body was that of a man, but his hair was white. At first I thought he dyed his hair, but there was something natural about him, as if he had been born that way.
He appeared with other friends wearing motorcycle gear. Blake's friends seemed to be normal, but while they wore dark clothes, he wore a white vest with a red stripe.
Ashley was more excited about his presence. She tried to drag him to the center of the party so they could both dance together, but he was reluctant. He said he just wanted to drink something. So she took him to the kitchen and ordered a Friend to get him a drink. I noticed that they had put something in his glass, blood! He liked it.
I was contemplating that strange scene, when Solane came close to me.
“ Hello, Friend! Now I can call you that, I heard that you were confirmed. I'm happy for you, what do you think of your party?”
“Is the party for me?” I found out that way.
“Yes! Every new Friend deserves a party.”
“ Sorry, I just found out, no one told me, but it's cool.”
“I see you’re eating ice cream.”
“I donated blood… you… already know that, right?”
“I know!”
“I haven’t seen you here anymore…”
“I’m a Diva now!” She bared her vampiric teeth.
“So are you too…”
“Yes, I’ll be young forever. You should accept it too.”
“I don’t know yet, I’ve been elevated from Darling to Friend, but I don’t know if I want to be a vampire.”
“ Think carefully before changing, because it is forever!”
“Have you ever regretted it?”
“The only downside is not being able to go to the beach and enjoy the sun, but I can go at night and see the moonlight.”
She laughed.
We sat there talking about college. I found out that she had finished her degree and was working as a fashion director at a denim clothing company. And of course, she only worked at night. But she said that the owner of the company was one too. During the day, they worked with the curtains closed.
Then Solane walked away from me and went to talk to other friends.
I went to the kitchen, after all my ice cream was gone.
Around the kitchen table, Ashley was talking about funny things, Blake and his biker friends had filled the table with helmets, each more stylish than the last. Blake didn't like dark clothes, so his helmet was also white.
I tried to go unnoticed, behind them, and threw my empty pot in the trash, Ashley saw me, and as she was looking for a topic to not make her conversation boring, she introduced me…to Blake.
“ Ah! Look who's here, our ex-Darling, current Friend!”
All the hot bikers looked at me, including Blake…
“ Blake this is Erika Mina.”
Blake looked at me in a way that no other man had ever looked at me or would ever look at me in my life. His gaze was that of a tired being, older than he appeared to be, he was mysterious, his body was there, but he didn't seem to care about the party. He wasn't the type of person who liked human fraternization. Even though he looked like a man, I knew he was a vampire. His other colleagues were too, but he seemed to be different from all the other vampires. Maybe because his hair was white as clouds. He took a glass of drink and before raising his mouth he pointed at me and said:
“Here’s to you, Erika Mina!” And he drank it all in one gulp. Ashley leaned close to his face and said, “It’s her blood,” meaning the drink he was drinking had my blood in it. Blake smiled and said, “I like I liked its flavor!” He took his helmet and said he was leaving.
“No! Blake stay a little longer!” Ashley insisted, wanting to hold him by the arms, but he was decisive:
“I can’t, my friends and I are looking for some blades somewhere.”
Later I found out that Blades were vampire hunters.
“Oh, those guys are annoying, and it’s dangerous to walk around there, it’ll be safer here.”
“ I don't have time for parties Ashley, let's go boys!”
Each one grabbed his helmet and followed their leader. The last image I saw of him was Ashley walking with him to the exit, she even tried to dance in the middle of the crowd, but that didn't captivate the handsome vampire staying. He got on his bike and left.
Ashley was resentful about that. But she went back to stay with her Friends, we drank and talked, but only a few brave ones stayed in the middle of the party dancing. That's how that night went, ten to five and everyone was already leaving. Before six the windows should be closed. The sun would rise. And the vampires were in danger of disappearing. So I went home, threw myself on the bed and fell asleep!
