Chapter 17: Blake, bite me!
Chapter 17: Blake, bite me!
Riding a motorcycle was like riding a horse.
I remember when I was young, going to my grandfather's house on a farm and riding horses.
The feeling of being carried against the wind is unique.
She seemed to glide across the asphalt, tearing the wind in half.
In addition to the thrill of riding on two wheels, passing cars, seeing the lights of the city at night, like nearby stars, I was hugging Blake!
Now I understood Ashley's fulminating look.
Now I understood why she loved him so much.
I was hugging that three hundred year old vampire body.
He was indeed thin, but his body was athletic. A few strands of his white hair were sticking out from under his helmet, and I couldn't resist touching them.
They were smooth and firm at the same time, with a texture I had never seen before. I didn't bite his hair because of the glass in the helmet, and I also didn't want him to see me as crazy like Ashley, but he felt it and said to me:
"Are you enjoying it?"
The hair or the motorcycle? I assumed it was the trip.
“Yes! Riding a motorcycle is awesome!”
“I know! I know!” he shouted excitedly inside his helmet.
Sometimes he would speed up, making the route dangerous. My heart would race at those times too. But he had great skill, after all, he had been piloting that thing for over a hundred years, ever since it was first launched. So I was in good hands.
That night had everything to be perfect, but obviously it wasn't.
Blake was so busy showing me the adrenaline of riding a motorcycle at high speed that he forgot to look around, but I didn't...
Like the black horseman of the apocalypse, he appeared, dark as an eclipse, he was in a dark corner behind a building, the 33! Yes! The greatest vampire hunter, the Blade. SHis motorcycle had a dark appearance, its roar sounded like that of a demon trapped deep in the earth, he came towards us, when I recognized the number on his helmet, I touched Blake's shoulder and pointed at him, who replied:
“Damn it! It’s 33! Right now!”
I was afraid. Blake, however, tried to reassure me:
“Don’t worry, he’s behind me, I’ll buy time by losing him, then when it’s safer I’ll let you go, then I’ll lure him in another direction, hold on tighter, I’ll speed up.”
My first time riding a motorcycle with a vampire and I was already being followed by a blade, I hope 33 isn’t Wesley Snipes, otherwise we’d be screwed.
Blake accelerated the motorcycle. The speed scared me, more than before.
The light on the pursuer's motorcycle was initially dark red, but I don't know what he did to it, it turned a blinding light blue. Since I was wearing short clothes, I felt a heat rise in me, as if something was burning. Blake sensed my discomfort and said loudly inside his helmet:
“It's ultraviolet light, which mimics the Sun, blades use it to affect vampires! But I wear protective clothing!”
Good for him, but I would have marks from my shirt as if I had gone to the beach in that outfit, at least I would have some tan lines so I could post them on Instagram later…
The pursuer was relentless, Blake turned four or five corners, I even lost count at the time, but 33 was good at steering his motorcycle, I felt at a certain point that maybe he was even better than Blake, at a certain point he even did a wheelie on the motorcycle demonstrating his skill.
But, Blake is Blake, he knew every inch of the city, he passed through an alley, and threw some boxes of drinks, stacked behind a bar, that stopped 33 for a few moments, those moments were enough for Blake to get out of his lane.
Finally he made me get off the motorcycle.
“Hide behind the wall, call an Uber and only leave there until someone comes to pick you up. I'll make that damn Blade follow me, so you'll be safe.”
I agreed. Hearing the roar of biker 33's engine coming, Blake accelerated his motorcycle. I hid behind the shadow and saw the pursuer running after him. I don't know if it was my curiosity to stretch my head and see where they went, or if I was the target... Biker 33 stopped his motorcycle, while Blake was already further ahead, sometimes slowing down, sometimes speeding up. I waited to be followed by the villain, but the hunter had his eyes on other prey. His neck was twisting like an owl looking for something, until he saw me. Then he turned the motorcycle towards me and started chasing me. My reaction? To run as fast as I could. Thank goodness I wasn't wearing high heels that night...
Running away from a pursuer is a trauma that lasts a lifetime. We want to run away but it seems like our legs can't keep up with our will.
I understand that running away from a guy on a fast motorcycle is not easy. In a few moments he was already at my side, holding me by the arm. I remembered all the self-defense classes and used my helmet to hit him, but in vain. He was too strong. He snatched the helmet from my hand and threw it aside. My little hands hurt right away.
Blake, my personal hero at night, noticed that biker 33 had changed his target, and like a knight wanting to save a maiden from the dragon, he turned his bike around and ran to save me.
33 threw me onto his bike, I had to struggle to balance myself so as not to fall to the ground and hurt myself even more than expected.
I was in the dragon's lap and I'll tell you what I saw. 33 was strong, his body was a little bigger than Blake's, his motorcycle was very hot, and that left my butt sore. The helmet was made of very dark red glass, you couldn't see anything inside.
Like every biker, he was wearing a super tacky black leather jacket, and inside it I felt a cell phone ringing, but he didn't answer it.
Before I knew it, Blake was already at our side kicking his motorcycle and yelling:
“Leave her alone, you bastard!”
I also collaborated and said between tears: “Please, I’m not a vampire!”
But 33 didn't listen to me or Blake. Then we reached a bridge, and the most terrible thing of my life happened there. With all the strength he had in his arms, biker 33 threw me off the bridge...
I always wondered what it was like to fly, I had a slight sensation, butterflies in my stomach took over my being, the fright too, I felt the silence before death, I fell on top of a car, and bounced like a ball, the pain, the blood, the fright, were too terrible to describe, my body hurt a lot, my bones were sticking out, the suffering dominated me completely, to the point of wanting to die soon to stop existing and end what I felt, like depressed suicidals, the last thing I saw?
A white-haired man jumped off the bridge, his hair fluttering high, he landed next to my body like a butterfly, light, without feeling any pain, he held me tightly and said to me:
“I’m sorry about what happened to you Erika! Death is coming to embrace you, there’s only one way to save you from it…biting!”
Then in my last words I said: “Blake! Bite… me!”
Everything went black.
