Chapter 18: Strange Ceiling

Chapter 18: Strange Ceiling
I woke up, and saw before me a gray ceiling. A strange ceiling. But I had seen the environment before, I was in some guest room in Blake's mansion.

Speaking of which, he was sitting next to me on the bed.

“Erika!”

“Blake!” I made a face of pain, but… I realized that I was no longer hurt, but I felt strange… light as a feather…

“What did you hear?!” I asked scared, remembering the terrible accident I had experienced.

“I’m sorry, Erika…” Blake said regretfully. Next to the entrance, Ashley stood there, looking like a statue with the same posture I had seen last time, arms crossed and angry with me. I ignored her, paying attention to Blake’s voice:

“I didn’t have a choice…”

“Choose what?” I asked, intrigued.

“When you had the accident, you were between life and death. Waiting for the emergency room would be useless. Death began to open you up and take you into the darkness, so I took you in my arms and tore you away from her… Erika, I… I… I bit you!”

Holy shit! I got bitten by a vampire, so…

I put my hand on my neck, there was no trace of a bite.

“When you become a vampire, all past marks disappear, you will be young forever…”

“I became a vampire?!”

“I ask for your forgiveness. But it was the only way to save you…”

The shock of that was greater than the fall. I felt an itch in my teeth, and by instinct I felt that I could lengthen them, and then there they were, my two little vampire teeth, holy shit again! I thought at that moment. I had become a vampire. Shit!

I got up from the bed, I was stunned by the fact. The lightness of my body caused me a strange feeling:

“I feel strange! I feel lighter.”

“That’s your new condition now!” Ashley said, her voice serious and somber.

I ignored her again. I looked for bruises on her body. There were no wounds.

“I need to go back to my house!”

“We have to take advantage of the fact that the sun hasn’t risen yet!” Blake said.

Now I was shaking. Panic began to take hold of me as I imagined myself being roasted by the sun, that really disturbed me.

“Will I ever be able to walk in the sun again?”

I was so stunned that I lost my balance and sat down on the bed. Blake knelt before my knees and said regretfully:

“If I could, I would go back and stop myself from putting such a burden on you. But now you will be one of us. I promise I will do everything I can to ease your condition. I will be responsible for you myself, you will be under my protection!”

You're under the protection of a vampire, and he's your owner, and like, if something happens to me, it would be his responsibility. The same thing Ashley did to me at the Blood Club, when she wore that perfume of hers.

And speaking of the devil… she was close, I think she wanted to beat me up. But that was it, if she did that, Blake would finish her off. Regardless, I wanted to get out of that claustrophobic place so I could digest everything!

“I just want to go home and rest!”

“I’ll take you in my car, it’s bulletproof and has tinted windows.”

I was taken to Blake’s vehicle, but not before I walked past the door and saw Ashley, furious with me. Blake was carrying me on his shoulder and that made her extremely jealous. Fuck the bitch!

I was taken to the house. I lay down on my bed. Blake took care of closing the windows and the curtains. He even wrote down his cell phone number.

“I'll leave my number here, let me know if anything happens.”

“33!… Is he coming back?”

“Don’t worry about him, I’ll have my groupmates watch the street, I’ll do the rounds, even during the day.”

“Blake, don’t risk yourself for me! The sun is dangerous for you…”

“For us now… if my punishment for condemning a person to be a vampire against their will is to be roasted by the sun until I disappear…”

In a fatherly gesture, he kissed my forehead and said to me:

“Rest well, Erika Mina.”

His words rang like a harp in my ears, and like a little angel from one of those Catholic paintings, I fell asleep.

I woke up.

The noise of motorcycles was constant on the street.

Some came and others came. They were certainly watching the neighborhood.

I got up from bed. I still felt strange. I felt different. My body seemed lighter than usual.

The room was dark because the windows were closed. I decided to open them, forgetting about my condition. And I got sun on my arm, which I quickly removed. Now I understood Ashley's surprise when I left that window open.

The heat was similar to touching a hot pan. It burned mainly my arm, which received most of the light; to me, the Sun seemed whiter than normal and its face seemed larger than it normally is. I tried to close the windows again.

I cried! I cried a lot, now I understood Blake's feelings of guilt, he had condemned me to live the life of a monster, forced to live in the shadows forever.

After my sad moment I went to wash my face, and what was my surprise? I was transparent, partially transparent. Then I noticed my arms. They were white, you could almost see my bones. I was stunned by the situation.

I checked my phone and saw Blake's paper with his number on it. I thought about calling him. But then I saw Ashley's texts telling me there was an emergency Sorority meeting. I thought, 'Am I going to move up in rank and become a Diva?' Now I was a vampire... and then... Suddenly I heard a knock on the door. And it opened.

I was scared, could it be Biker 33? I grabbed a weapon that was nearby, a hair dryer! And I pointed it in the direction they were coming from. Of course I wasn't going to shoot a blast of air, but I was going to attack the invader's head. But to my surprise, the being that was there dressed in white clothes and a helmet was my owner... I mean... my protector, Blake!
