Chapter 35 Chapter Thirty-Five
Leilani frowns and sighs. “I guess so.” She takes a sip of her protein shake and just about spits it out in the floor. Making a face of pure disgust. “That is freaking disgusting.”
I laugh. “You better get used to it baby, you need to up your protein intake baby. We will also be hitting the gym more often. We need to build up your muscles.” I take a sip of my protein shake and Leilani makes a face at me when I swallow with no problems.
“I will get used to going to the gym and doing all this training, but I will never get used to this nastiness.” She shakes the cup and I laugh again.
I wrap my arm around her shoulder and lead her towards the back door. “Come on baby. Let’s get started.”
We step outside into the large backyard and make our way to a wide clearing. Leilani turns and looks at me. “What do we need to do first?”
“Let’s stretch, I don’t want you pulling a muscle or anything like that.” I wink at her and she rolls her eyes.
“You should be the one worried about pulling a muscle old man.” She mumbles it, but I still hear her.
I push her hard and she falls on the ground, looking at me with a shocked expression. “Hey, what the hell was that for?” She asks sounding offended.
“That was your first lesson. You always need to be prepared for anything. If it was that easy for me to knock you off your feet, imagine how easy it will be for someone to inflict more damage. You know someone that is actually trying to hurt you.” I say, sticking my hand out to help her up.
She slaps my hand away and gets up on her feet. Good. She is getting pissed off. “I wasn’t ready, you should have told me we were starting.”
“Do you think a rogue is going to give you a warning? What about another pack’s alpha that wants to take you down so they can take over your pack? No. They aren’t, they are going to get you when you least expect it. They will find every weakness you have and exploit them. Now let’s get stretched and see what you got.”
I bend over touching my toes, and out of the corner of my eye I see Leilani pounce at me. I stand up catching her midair and slam her on the ground. She hits the ground hard with a loud thump, and I see the tears well up in her eyes. I instantly feel awful, but I don’t let my weakness show. I can’t let my love and the pull from our bond affect her training. She needs to be able to protect herself and everyone else. I won’t always be right by her side to watch out for her.
A tear slips from her eye, and she wipes it away with the back of her hand, pushing herself back to her feet. I go back to stretching and make the stupid mistake of turning my back on her. She kicks me in the back of the knee making me fall to one knee and I bite my lip to keep from groaning in pain.
So, this is how she wants to play it. I stand up and turn around tackling her to the ground. She screams and I pin her down, holding her hands above her head. “Get off of me Malakai.” She screams.
“Make me. If you want to play dirty and take a cheap shot baby, then make me get off of you.”
Leilani lets out a frustrated scream and starts kicking her legs. “You are to heavy. Get off of me.”
“You are going to have to make me.”
Leilani growls a deep ferocious sound, and her beautiful gray eyes start glowing a bright red. She thrusts her arms forward, somehow unpinning them from my hold. She bucks her hips forward and sends me flying off of her, landing on the ground above her head where she was laying.
Leilani rolls into a sitting position and I flip over looking at her confused. What the hell was that? I know you can do a lot of things when you are mad, but that was crazy. Her eyes return to their beautiful gray color, and I just stare at her for a minute.
She looks just as shocked as I am. “How did I do that?” She whispers and I honestly don’t have an answer for that.
I shake my head. “I really don’t know baby.”
“Is there something wrong with me?” She asks, sounding a little upset.
I stand up, walking over to her. I pull her to her feet and hug her. “No baby. I think I just pissed you off enough to get your adrenaline pumping or something.”
Leilani laughs. “You did piss me off.”
I laugh. “Good. Stay mad, we have some real training to do now.”
She nods her head. “Okay.”
“Let’s do some basic fighting, you need to learn how to block a punch. That is a very important skill.” I show her a proper fighting stance. Showing her how to stand, and where to keep her feet. “Punch me.” I say and she just looks at me.
“I am not going to punch you.”
“I know you aren’t going to actually punch me because I am going to block it, but I still want you to try.”
She narrows her eyes at me. “Well, aren’t you just cocky.”
“If you think you can punch me baby, give it your best shot.” I smirk and she swings. I dodge the punch easily. “Come on, punch like a man, not like a little girl.”
Leilani tries to punch me again, putting a little more umph behind it, and I easily block the punches. She throws punch after punch, and I can tell she is getting irritated. “This is pointless, you are to fast.” She lets her hands fall out of their defensive position and I punch her hard. I punch her so hard, I hear the bones in nose crack, and she falls to the ground, tears instantly filling her eyes.
My wolf growls at me for hurting our mate, and I hate myself for doing it, but it had to be done. I told her never let her defenses down and this is why I told her that. “Get up.” I say, trying not to let her hear how much hurting her is affecting me.
“You broke my fucking nose.” She wails, tears streaming down her face.
“You should have kept your hands up baby, you never let your guard down.”
Leilani jumps up off the ground growling at me. Her broken nose has already healed. It only takes about a minute for us to heal. Especially with something as small as a broken nose. Leilani throws another punch at me, and I catch her fist midair. I twist it until I hear the bones in her wrist break. Leilani screams, yanking her hand away from me.
