Chapter 22

Hate them

Eve POV

The thought of my parents, coming back today makes me cringe, I hate their presence. As much as I want to try and get used to this feelings, as much as I really want to stop feeling this way, I just help it, they abandoned me, they only care for their business, and nothing else, they don't even give a damn about me, if they know I was going to inconvenient them, why did they birthed me in the first place? Why didn't they just got rid of me? I feel like I'm a burden to them, I feel like I'm a big mistake in their lives, what do you expect? You would feel same if you were in my shoes, right?

Taking a last glance at my reflection on the mirror, i sighed softly, before going to pick my handbag from the bed, after which I walked out of the room, and closed the door behind me, before heading to the stairs. Climbing down the stairs, I headed straight to the kitchen, where I met nanny Cleo, cooking.

"Good morning nanny." I smiled excitedly, as I hugged her.

"Good morning dear, did you sleep well?" She smiled warmly, and stroke my hair.

"Yes I did. I'm off to the office, see you later." I kissed her hair with a smile on my face, and with that, I turned around and headed to the door.

"Eve, aren't you taking the day off to go welcome your parents at the airport?" She asked, giving me a confused look.

"There's no point doing that, they'll find their ways home, I have better things to do in the office. Bye." I said, and without waiting for what she has to say next, I headed straight to the door, before walking out. I'd rather go spend my day at the office, while facing that annoying jerk, than stay back here, and await their presence. It's alarming, how I can't stand my own parents, it's damn odd, that I don't even feel comfortable around my own parents, but it's never my fault, right?

Stepping out of the kitchen, I walked over to the exit door, and opened it, before walking out, and straight to the parking lot, where I hopped in on my car, and ignited the engine, before driving out of the compound, and soon, I was already on the road, driving to the office.

My mind wandered off to the thought of Jayden, as I couldn't help feeling guilty about what happened. I don't know how I'm going to fix this, but I'll make sure that I get back the man, and make sure that he sign the deal with him. I don't want to be the reason the company goes bankruptcy.

After driving for what seemed like forever, I finally got to the gate, and drove in, before parking at the garage. Stepping out of the car, I walked over to the entrance door, and walked in, before heading to the elevator. It's still very early, so there were a few staffs present. I don't know why I came so early to the office today, but let's just say that I'm trying to avoid my parents.

Stepping into the elevator, the door roll closed, and in the next seconds, it opened again, but this time, I was already at the third floor. Stepping out of the elevator, I walked elegantly to my office, and once I got to the door, I twisted the knob, and walked in.

Walking over to my desk, I dropped my bag, and went to check if Jayden is around, but as expected, he isn't yet in his office. I wonder why a CEO deem it fit to always come late to work. So annoying.

Sitting behind my desk, I got to work. I think I need to get some work done, before the annoying jerk comes to the office.

After almost an hour of working my life out, I heard footsteps from outside, and in the next seconds, the door opened, and raising my gaze, I was welcomed with Jayden, having a frown on his face. If he's frustrated, he should stay back at home, and not coming here, looking like one of those warriors, going to a war front.

"Good morning sir." I greeted him politely, trying to be a respectful worker this morning, but he ignored me and walked into his office. What the heck! Did he just ignore my greetings? He must really be losing his mind, but that's his problem though, he should go solve it.

After what seemed like forever, my phone beeped, and I reached out to it, before swiping the unlock button, as a notification popped on the screen. I almost chocked on my spit, at what I saw. Wow, Jayden and Mae Curtis are dating? That's funny. I mean, how the heck did that young lady managed to get along with this asshole? I never knew he has a girlfriend, he doesn't deserve to have one, considering how arrogant he is. Gosh! I hate him so much.

"What!" I heard his voice from inside, and I couldn't stopped myself from scoffing. What's with the scream now?

I rolled my eyes, and continued with my work, but my phone beeped again, and I almost screamed my lungs out. Who the heck is disturbing me this morning? Letting out an angry groan, I picked my phone, and checked it, but my eyes widened, as I was welcomed with a live video of reporters, trying to break into the company. What the heck! This is damn crazy.

I was about going to inform the asshole, when the door burst opened, and he stormed out, looking like a maniac he is. What the heck is going on now?

He stormed out of the office, banging the door behind him, and I cringed. What the heck! Is he trying to raise my blood pressure?

Slamming my hands on the table, I stood up and headed straight to the door, before storming out of the office. I need to find out the heck is going on out there, I can't be left out of this.

Stepping out of the building, I stopped in my track, as I was welcomed with Jayden, standing on the stairs, looking at the reporters, and from the look of things, he looked like he's confused about the whole things.

The reporters kept throwing questions at him, while he just stood staring at them like a dumb ass he is. After what seemed like forever, he picked his phone and talked to someone on phone, before throwing his head back. I stood watching, as he walked over to the gate, staring at them, looking all confused.

"I and Mae are...."

"Excuse me sir, your attention is needed here." I chipped in...
