Chapter 23

His eyes

Eve POV

"Excuse me sir, your attention is needed here. I'll take care of them." I said, as I walked over to him.

He tilted his head to look at me, having a shocked and confused look on his face. This asshole should know that I'm trying to save his ass here, so he better comply before I change my mind. I'm only here, not entirely because of him, but because of this annoying reporters. For heaven sake, this is getting annoying. How could they be doing nothing else, than just going around, poking their noses, where it doesn't belong? I wonder when meddling into other people's affairs, becomes a part of their works, but today, I'm going put them in their places, I've been looking for an opportunity to do this, and now that it's finally here, I won't let it slide.

He glanced back at the reporters, and at me, before walking back to the building. Now let the show begin.

"Miss, who are you to Mr Jayden? What do you have to say about these whole thing?

"Do you also know about the relationship with him and miss Mae?" They keep throwing questions at me, thinking I wouldn answer them. Screw them all, they're losing their minds.

"What I have to say about these whole things, is that you all should go to hell, screw you all." I snapped at them, while glaring daggers at them, and they flinched, looking at me surprisingly.

"When did meddling into other people's personal life, become a part of your work, huh? The last time I checked, everyone has the right to their private lives, and not the other way round. What the heck is your problem, huh?" I snapped at them.

"Now listen to me, you have no business Jayden, you have no right, whatsoever, meddling into his affairs, trying know about his private life, it doesn't concerns you, who he chooses to move with, and it's none of your business, who I am to him. You can go everywhere else, but one thing I won't take lightly with you, is coming here, and disturbing the peace of the company, all in the name of some shit." I snapped at them angrily.

"The next time I see you all here, I'll sue you, and make sure that you all pay for any damages. For heaven sake, you're disturbing the company." I yelled at them.

They keep murmuring to themselves, as they retreated, and in the next seconds, they all left. Wow, that was quite easier than I thought it would be.

A smile crept on my face, as I turned proudly, and walked back into the building. Everyone present couldn't stop staring at me, as I walked through the lobby, some of them kept waving at me, and I just couldn't help being proud of myself.

Stepping into the elevator, I waited patiently for it to take me to the third floor, and in the next few seconds, the door opened, and stepping out of it, I headed straight to my office. Stepping into the office, I tucked my hair behind my ear, as I walked elegantly to my seat, and sat down proudly, before resuming my work. I'm not happy because I saved Jayden's ass, but because after so many ears, I was finally able to let my mind out to those stupid set of reporters, who knows nothing, than meddling into other people's personal affairs. It's really alarming, how they dig into people's lives, like it'll earn them something.

The sound of my ringing phone jolted pulled my attention from the desktop, and letting out a soft sigh, I reached out to the phone, and slide the answer button, not even checking who the caller is, before holding the phone to my ears.

"Hey princess." Came the very familiar voice, which I will recognize, even in my sleep, the voice belongs to Ethan, my lovely boyfriend. My heart twitched excitedly, as a smile slowly crept on my face. Just how much I've missed him so much, he's been away for month, and I don't know when he'll be back, but I can't just help missing him.

"Babe." I smiled excitedly, as I held the phone to my ear, with my shoulder, while president the keyboards.

"I've really missed you so much babe." He whined, and I couldn't help chuckling. He always knows how to make me smile and laugh.

"I've missed you too." I replied.

"Sorry I haven't been calling you lately, just got so busy with work lately, and coming home late, working my ass out all night, urgh! This whole thing is annoying." He whined.

"I can imagine the stress. Sorry about that, but you have to rest often, to avoid falling sick, ok?" I said, my gaze fixated on the screen of the desktop, as my fingers moves speedily on the keyboards.

"I will. I got to go now, let's talk later babe, I love you." He said.

"Alright darling, stay safe, and take care of yourself for me. I love you." I replied, and he blew me a kiss, before finally ending the call. Dropping the phone on my desk, I continued with my work.

After what seemed like forever, the office telephone came ringing, and I groaned angrily, before picking it with an eye roll. It better not be this annoying jerk, calling me.

. "Come in to my office, now." Jayden's annoying voice came on, and with that, the call disconnected.

Letting out a scoff, I dropped the telephone, and ran my fingers through my hair, before standing up. This asshole is going to kill me before my time, but he shouldn't worry, I'm going to beat him to his own game.

Standing up from my chair, I walked over to the door of his office, and took a deep breath, before placing a knock on it, waiting patiently for him to usher me in.

Seconds ticked into minute, but he didn't say anything, and I almost screamed my lungs out. For goodness sake, he asked me to come, why isn't he talking now?

I knocked on the door again for the second time, before his annoying voice finally came on.

"Come in." His voice came in from inside.

Rolling my eyes, I pushed the door opened, and walked in, to meet him, standing at the window side, looking outside, while his hands were OK n the windows frame, leaning out.

"You called me." I said, after rolling my eyes.

"Why did you do that?" He asked after what seemed like forever of staying silence, as he stood up and turned to face me, while his eyes stared deeply into mine, like he was trying to look into my soul...
