Chapter 74 74
Phoebe~~
I was kept in a dark, scary room, where I saw no one or daylight. Meals were shifted to me like I was a criminal in prison, and after days of starving myself, I had no option but to begin eating those meals.
My problems laid on the other two ladies who were held too, because I wasn't sure if they were even still alive or not. Was there a hope of them being rescued? I really couldn't tell, because I never set my eyes on the lycan princess again to tell if she got the artefact or not.
But inwardly, I didn't stop asking for the goddess's intervention, even if it was this one time. It didn't matter if I died here in the hands of the man my father allied with to commit murder against the innocent, but those ladies should be set free, and Knox should awake.
I had no more tears to shed and only wished for the best to happen.
Days passed and turned into weeks, and at a certain time, I didn't know if it was morning, noon or night, Alpha Dean bumped into the room alone. He wore that expression that showed how satisfied he was that I was passing through that hell, and all I could say was that my father made a huge mistake in having such a person as a friend.
What friend would treat his friend's daughter this way? He found solace in my suffering, and could be expecting me to beg already.
“Are you ready to tell me where the artefact is?” he asked, his voice so smooth as though we were on good terms. “If not, you're going to spend the rest of your life here. Not just that, because I will still have a taste of you. While you stay here, I'll have my servants wash you up, prepare you to satiate my urge, and I will have you fucked until you don't feel your legs any longer. So choose wisely, baby girl. Wanna stay here and taste my dick or live as my mistress?”
What an asshole this man was!
He expected me to say something to him, but I wouldn't waste my saliva on an unworthy being like him. He isn't worth my strength to speak, so I had to ignore him and only watch.
“Phoebe, why do you always get on my nerves? Are you going to keep ignoring me?” he growled, gesturing closer to me. But I still turned a deaf ear and didn't even flinch. “Look, you should be glad that I brought you out here. Because right now, the Fearless Keepers Pack is in chaos, and no single soul that proves stubborn would live.”
I narrowed my gaze, anger swelling in me, but I fought hard to suppress my wolf. I wouldn't want to mess up before him, because I thought making a fool of him was by far better.
When he waited for me to respond and I still said nothing, he zoomed out of the room and locked the door.
I let out a heavy breath and stomped my fist on my swelling chest. I hadn't ever been so patient like this all my life, and I loved how I simply shifted personality before him.
A man who wants me to be his mistress; how shameless he was.
Henceforth, I still resumed counting days, pacing around the room when I got tired of sitting, lying down when I felt so sleepy…until the day my meal was served with a knife and fork for the first time. It always came without even a spoon, and I didn't bother because there was water in a bowl to wash my hands.
But a knife and a fork? Could he have told them to treat me well so I would change my mind? What a dream he was in…
After having my meal for that day, I hid the knife in a corner of the room where they would likely not search, because hiding it in my dress wouldn't work when they claim their females as though they are nothing.
Then I thought, what would I use the knife for? It was too small to open the lock of the door and escape, and I wasn't even sure how tight the security was around here.
As though the first wasn't enough, two more came with two more meals, and I took them all. What surprised me was how the servant never asked about the knives and went ahead putting more.
I came up with a plan soon. Attack the servant and look for a way to leave.
Could I find the other two ladies? If I escaped, would they be killed if they were still living?
I didn't want anything to be the reason I didn't execute my plan, because the more I waited, I became so hopeless. I had gotten rid of the softhearted Phoebe, and would stop at nothing to attack any person that would come across my way.
Patiently, I waited for the servant to show up again.
It could be that the artefact didn't awaken Knox, and the lycan princess must have returned to her clan. If Knox isn't awake, Levi is no match for Dean, who held his mate captive. And if Dean was still holding Levi's mate captive despite seeing Knox’s corpse, then he must have known that he wasn't truly dead.
With all those thoughts, I had no reason to wait behind. I told my wolf, because this could help too, ‘Can you seal our scent so we won't be tracked? Hold back your aura and pheromones, too, and I will make sure to avoid whatever will make my blood spill.’
She chuffed and agreed to my idea, so I thought I was set to dish out my plan.
Once the servant showed up to shove the meal again, I grabbed her hand from the side where I hid and dragged her into the room. I didn't lock up the door because it could be the end of my attempt, so I pinned the servant to the ground.
Her eyes turned bloody from the stress I was causing her, and I didn't give a fuck. She tried to get away from me, and I stabbed her legs with the knife and pulled it out, causing her blood to splatter everywhere.
Immediately, I tied up her hands, legs and sealed her lips with the dress I wore. I stripped her and put on her dress, so I wouldn't be known immediately, then I left the room and locked it up.
Even the corridors were dark, but with my wolf's vision, I was able to trail my way out, only to find myself in another corridor.
There was no single guard along, and I feared there would be a camera watching…but trying to destroy them would waste my time and even draw the attention of the guards. So I continued walking, hoping to be out of the building soon.
I was about to divert into the next lane when I heard a wolf whimper coming from the side. I glanced at the walls with no doors, my brows drawing closer. ‘Do you perceive any wolf scent?’ I asked my wolf, who was already sniffing, to dictate where the whimpering came from.
The sound came again, stirring my wolf as it took over my movement in search of the scent. I stood before a plain painted wall when my arm raised and landed on it.
Before my very eyes, the wall made a cracking sound, and then split into two, revealing the inside room.
