CHAPTER 41

Diwata opened her eyes and found herself in a familiar room. This is her room in their mansion.

She averted her eyes. There are lots of Cinderella stickers there as well as Snow White.

But why is she here? What is she doing here?

She closed her eyes and struggled to remember what had happened. Her head still hurts.

"You're awake."

It was the voice of Lee's sister, his youngest sister.

She realizes that she is here in the mansion owned by her parents. This is where Lee's family lives.

"Diwata ..." she said softly in her name. She is only fifteen years old and this is Lee's close sister. The other one was rude to her.

"W-what am I doing here?" she asked in astonishment. It bent down while playing with the fingers.

"What's the matter Leerah, is there a problem?" she asked hesitantly Leerah but just shook her head.

After a while, her cellphone rang. Her eyes widened when she saw that 17 missed calls were already there from Hale. She immediately answered the call and gestured for a moment to Leerah. She left the room where she was.

"Hel—"

"Where the hell are you?!"

She moved the cellphone slightly away from her ear because of the strength of Hale's voice. His voice was full of concern.

"Hale, I'm sorry I didn't know you have so many calls," she said on the other line.

"Where are you? Baby, just answer me!" he said so she immediately replied that she was in their mansion.

"I'm here at our mansion,"

"What? What are you doing there? Why are you there?"

She suddenly remembered what had happened earlier. It was as if a knife had pierced her chest as the events of the past travelled through her mind.

"I'm going there now," Hale said quickly.

"But—"

Hale was already dropping the other line before she could even speak.

She just bent down and was stunned while sitting on the bed. He washed her own palms on her face.

Lee’s family is the reason why her parents died.

Tears streamed down her eyes along with the trembling of her lower lip.

All her life she believed that Lee's family was a good person but she was wrong, she didn't think that even Lee who was her childhood friend and had been with her for a long time was also able to hurt her. They are evil. Nothing was as painful as it did in her life. How did they manage to kill her parents despite her condition? They knew she had been sick before and she desperately needed her parents because she knew in herself that there was still something wrong with her even after she had recovered from her illness. On top of that her family has been good to them, she did not think that they would betray them just because of money.

A few minutes later she was just stunned and crying tears. She remembers the moments she was still with her parents. How much they love and protect her. They will never be erased from her mind especially from her heart.

"I'm going in because Diwata is there! You can't stop me!"

She stood up because of that shout. She already knew Hale's baritone voice so well so she hurried out of the room where she was.

When she came out she saw Hale just entering the door, his eyebrows were furrowed at a sister of Lee who did not want to let him in and blocked his path.

"Stay away, I'm punching a girl especially when she doesn't want to show me my Diwata!" Hale said angrily to Lee Ann. Lee's sister with whom she doesn't close.

"Hale!" she calls by its name. Hale's eyes met hers immediately and he approached her easily when he saw her.

"God you're here!" Hale said and quickly locked her in his arms. He hugger her so tight. She felt him kiss her head repeatedly.

"Is that the man you traded for my brother, Diwata? No wonder, you're a kind of slut!" Lee's sister said calmly to her.

"That's enough!" Leerah shouted at her sister.

He looked Lee Ann in the eyes.

"I never cheated on your older brother Lee Ann, he cheated on me before. I gave him everything. I really loved him but he still managed to cheat on me, most of all they killed my parents!"

Her voice growled at the last word she said to Lee Ann. Lee Ann was silent because of what she said. It seemed embarrassed and averted its gaze.

Hale stared at her as there was a trace of shock in his eyes.

"What did you say?" he repeated to her. She could not answer yet. She just cried and cried on Hale's shoulder. She just sobbed because she was so upset.

Lee's mother later came out. She cannot look directly at them.

"Leerah, keep an eye on your big brother Lee in his room," she commanded.

"Is Lee here?" Hale asked her. His face immediately wrinkled.

She nodded slowly at it.

“He’s dying,” she said.

"W-what?" Hale seemed to ask her a confused question.

"Yes, you heard right. He only has 30 days to live. We are very guilty of Diwata and I also admit that we are the reason why her parents died. We're leaving this house right now, but please Diwata, I'm only asking you one thing, I hope you'll grant what I'm asking of you, that's all," Lee's mother begged her. She is very upset at these times but it hurts even more when she sees a parent asking for a little time just to serve her child who has a cancer.

"Baby, I don't understand. What's going on?" Hale still looks confused. She just held his hand tightly. She didn't answer Hale's question to her first. She turned her gaze to Lee's mother. At the same time, Leerah came out of a room while she was pushing Lee who was in a wheelchair.

Hale was shocked to see Lee's limp body. Lee's body was so thin that it could hardly be recognized.

Next, Lee Ann came out carrying large bags of them with belongings.

“Mom let’s go,” Lee Ann said.

Her forehead furrowed. She felt pity. Her conscience would not allow her to evict them from the mansion especially in Lee's situation.

"Just wait, no one will leave here," she told them. Lee's mother was shocked by what she said as well as Lee's siblings.

She was stunned for a moment as she looked at Lee. His eyes were deepening but she could clearly see that he was now staring at her.

"H-Hale and I are just leaving. Stay here for a while. Let's forget what happened today, my conscience cannot drive you out of such a situation. I can not do it..."

Her tears flowed. Hale put his arm around her and squeezed her arm.

She looked at Lee and she could clearly see that tears were also dripping from his eyes, it flowed down its hollow cheek even as he avoided looking at her and it turned his gaze in the other direction.

Lee's mother nodded as she bit her lower lip.

"T-thank you Diwata..."

Lee's mother said almost in a whisper, she did not speak and invited Hale to leave that place. She was just too sad and hurt because of the mixed emotions.

They left the mansion and she went home with Hale.
