Chapter 211 Accident

Chapter 211 Accident
Boyle was putting his shirt back on when the door burst open.

He turned to see an angry Maverick.

“You can’t have them. You can take anything else but Heaven and Liam,” Maverick said.

Boyle’s face twisted in confusion before settling as he continued buttoning his shirt.

“Good to finally see you. You seem to be holding the position so well. Tell me about it,” Boyle said casually, like his brother wasn’t angry.

“Don’t change the topic. She’s mine.”

“I asked you to fill in for me at the civil affairs so she doesn’t feel alone, and you took it personally and went far and beyond,” Boyle said.

Maverick felt a pang of guilt, but it was done already, and they both had to deal with it.

“I didn’t mean for things to go this far. It happened, and I fell in love with her. I can’t help that I want your wife.”

“I don’t have a wife, though,” Boyle said.

“What?” It was Maverick’s turn to be confused.

Boyle pointed at the paper on the table.

Divorce papers. It was already signed by both parties—Heaven and him.

“I already know how much she means to you. I wouldn’t start a war,” he said, smiling at his brother.

When Boyle woke up from his long coma, he had seen how they both held on to each other while sleeping. The relaxation on his brother’s face was something he was happy to see.

He watched how everything blurred out when they were with each other. When he heard her throwing up, he was so concerned about her, barely noticing he was awake.

Maverick turned to leave. “You brat, are you not going to thank me?” he asked.

“You should handle your mother. She is trying to send your girl away. Let’s go hunting later,” Maverick said, continuing his steps.

Heaven stared at the divorce papers. She felt a sense of freedom and less guilt.

Few minutes earlier.

“Let’s get it over with,” Boyle said as he moved a file over to her.

She saw the headline. Her eyes widened.

“I know you are eventually going to ask for it. You wanted me to recover a bit. You said yourself I’m better. So you can sign it.”

“I can wait for your injuries to fully heal.”

He shook his head. “Maverick can’t wait,” he said. Her face flushed.

“I am sorry for all you had to go through. Being a young widow and navigating life in the mansion alone.”

Heaven nodded and signed the papers.

She stood in the room she had stayed in seven years ago. It looked the same and held so many bad and good memories.

The door opened. Maverick entered. He pulled her into a hug.

“My brother already signed the divorce papers. So we get to be together now,” he said, breathing in relief.

His hand went down and grabbed her. Then he pulled back, capturing her lips with his. Heaven returned the kiss. He began dropping kisses on her chin, down to her neck.

“Mave…”

He returned to her lips and kissed her deeply this time. His hand slipped under her dress and ran down her thighs.

She forced herself away from him. Maverick’s eyes were already clouded with desire, and she could see the bulge in his trousers.

“We can’t,” she told him.

“Why not?” he asked.

“Because I don’t want to.” She turned her back on him, searching for what she didn’t keep.

“Heaven, you have to give me a valid reason. I have been patient because maybe you were respecting Boyle, but now you both are divorced, so why can’t we?” he asked, frustrated.

“It’s my body, Maverick. I don’t have to give you a reason when I say no.”

Maverick got pissed. He closed the distance and grabbed her hand tightly, pressing her body to his.

“Maverick, stop it… You said you would never force me to do what I don’t want to do.”

Maverick’s jaw tightened. Gently, his grip loosened.

“You said we could be together now. But I don’t think so. You need to fix your temper and learn control. I don’t want to be with someone who sees me as an object to own with no feelings at all.” Tears fell from her eyes. “You think I’m easy. That’s why you get to do anything, and I will just let it go again and again.”

Maverick’s heart squeezed painfully. He stepped forward. “I’m sorry.”

“No… enough of you hurting me all the time. I won’t take it anymore. You get shared custody with Liam—he is your son. Stay away from me.”

“That’s impossible,” Maverick said.

“Then you want to force me? Kidnap me? Tie me up? Which one of them? Or is there a new way?”

Maverick’s mind was telling him to do those things and maybe more. Instead, he turned around and walked away, trying to contain his rage.

Heaven slowly sat on the bed, holding her stomach protectively. She wiped her tears. She needed to be strong for her kids, starting now.

There was no need to stay here. She would move to her own place with Liam and Rebecca. She took her car keys to go pick them up from school.

She was close to their school when she received a call. Panic and fear replaced her expression immediately. She turned the car, stopped at a hospital, and ran towards the reception.

“A man was brought in—an accident… he is tall and…” she said frantically.

“Name?” the nurse asked.

“Maverick Richard.”

“First room by the left down the hall,” the nurse said.

Heaven ran. Luckily, she saw Collins—he was the one that had called her. He had a grim expression on his face.

She opened the door to the room. Maverick lay on the bed, a bandage over his head, connected to different machines.

“He was overspeeding and rammed into a wall,” Collins said.

Heaven moved closer and stared at the face she had seen earlier that day.

“Mave… I’m sorry, okay.” She touched his cheeks. “I didn’t mean what I said earlier… Please don’t leave me. My feelings were just all over the place…”

She took his hand and kissed it. “I need a world with you in it… I can’t take care of all of them without you.” She brought his hand down to her bump.

Maverick froze. His eyes snapped open when he felt it.

He sat up. Heaven stared at him, surprised.

“You didn’t let me touch you because you were pregnant?” he asked her.

“Did you lie to get me here, Maverick?”

His face said it all.

Heaven turned and made her way to the door. Maverick pulled off everything he had on him and went after her.

“Heaven, wait…” he held her hand back.

“You always take advantage of me because you know I love you, and that’s not fair,” she said, choking on her tears.

Maverick wrapped his arm around her waist, hugging her from behind. “You said you didn’t want me. I just wanted to bring you to me without forcing you,” he said.

She turned to him, using her hand to hit his chest. “So what’s the difference—physically forcing me and staging an accident?” she sniffed.

Maverick didn’t stop her from hitting him.

“Well, I get to hear you say I love you and…” his hand touched her stomach, “we are having a baby.”

“Babies,” she corrected him, sniffing.

“What?” he asked, shocked.

“They are two.”
