Chapter 201 Eva’s scheme III
Killian returned to the car with the medicine for Eva.
“I’m sorry, the queue was long.” He opened a bottle of water and handed it to her, then popped out a tablet and gave it to her. “Going to another pharmacy would have taken longer.”
Eva winced painfully as she took the medication and drank the water. She rested her head back on the seat.
Killian drove to a grocery store. “I’ll get seaweed so I can make hot soup for you, okay?”
She hummed.
When they were done, they headed home.
Killian settled her in bed and quickly moved to the kitchen to prepare food for her.
The food was almost ready when Eva came out of the room.
“You don’t need to come to the dining room. I can bring it to bed,” he told her.
“It’s too lonely in there. I want to stay where you are,” she said, pouting.
Killian’s heart melted.
“What are you and Havilah going to eat? I should really learn how to cook seriously,” she added.
“Just keep being a princess. I’ll handle it. When we leave, we can hire someone to cook.”
She nodded.
“We have leftover rice from yesterday. I already added vegetables and fried it with egg,” he explained.
Eva watched him intently.
“Okay.”
Killian prepared the table and went to bring Havilah. Eva’s eyes moved to the wall clock.
They began eating.
Eva ate from her soup. She wiped her daughter’s mouth with a napkin and took a spoonful from Killian’s plate.
“There’s love in sharing,” she said.
Killian chuckled softly. He picked up the cup of juice and drank from it.
“There’s good news. My mother sent a file—it’s our new identities. We leave in two days through the sea route,” he said.
“I can’t wait to start my life afresh,” Eva said, visibly elated.
Killian suddenly began to feel hot and dizzy. His vision blurred.
He shook his head, trying to clear it—but then he met Eva’s twisted smile.
He wanted to speak, but he couldn’t. His heart pounded violently, like it would burst.
The weakness started from his legs and spread through his body.
Then he fell off the chair.
He blacked out.
“Mummy, Uncle Killian is sick,” Havilah said worriedly.
Eva stood up calmly.
“It looks like it, baby. Go sit in the living room and shut the door while Mummy takes care of him, okay?”
Havilah looked at her mother with innocent doe eyes.
“Okay.”
“When I’m done, we can both go see Daddy together,” Eva added with a smile.
Havilah obeyed, though she glanced back at Killian’s ghostly pale body on the floor before walking away.
The moment she left—
Eva moved.
She ran into the kitchen, grabbed the jar of juice, and poured its contents into the sink. Next, she dumped the crushed acetaminophen into the sink and turned on the tap, washing everything away.
She dragged the unconscious Killian by his feet to the bedroom.
Then she pulled him upright into a chair.
She brought out a bedsheet she had twisted into a rope and began tying him up—tight enough that he couldn’t move.
She stuffed his mouth with socks and tied it shut with cloth.
By the time she finished, she was breathing hard.
Then she smiled at her work.
“Why should I leave with you when my husband is here?” she said, laughing like a maniac.
Within ten minutes, she was seated in a car, fully dressed, with Havilah in the passenger seat.
Her smile was bright.
“Let’s go to Daddy now. He’s waiting for you,” she said, buckling Havilah’s seatbelt.
Havilah smiled.
A few hours earlier
“Hello, Daddy… it’s Havilah. Can you come pick me up? I miss you so much. Don’t you want me anymore, Daddy?” she whimpered.
“Where are you, darling? I could never not want you. I love you so much,” Maverick replied.
Eva smiled, rubbing the spot where she had pinched Havilah’s lap.
The call ended, and she sent a text with the location.
Now she drove there with a deep smile.
“I told you to always listen to Mummy. Then we can both have Daddy,” she said, rubbing her daughter’s cheeks.
That day, she had eavesdropped on Killian and Butler Rose’s conversation.
She decided to take advantage of the fact that Maverick still believed Havilah was his.
She could cry her way back.
She was still the mother of his child—and they were still married.
Maverick waited at the meeting point from the text message.
It was the restaurant he and Eva had chosen for their wedding date.
He stood outside.
“Daddy!” Havilah called excitedly, running toward him.
He picked her up immediately.
She wrapped her arms around his neck, smiling.
Maverick hugged her tightly.
Eva stood a distance away, watching them with a sad expression.
But beneath that… she was bubbling with happiness.
“Let’s head inside. I made a reservation,” Maverick said gently.
She looked up in surprise, then followed him in.
They sat.
Maverick signaled to an attendant.
“Avi, Daddy has something to say to Mummy. This lady will take you to play for a few minutes.”
Havilah clung to him, hiding her face in the crook of his neck.
“I won’t leave you ever. We’re leaving this place together. I promise—cross my heart.”
“Avi, Daddy promises, okay?” Eva said, flashing her a look.
Reluctantly, she followed the attendant.
“Maverick, I was scared—that’s why I ran away. I didn’t know my father could do something like that. I’m heartbroken… everything just fell apart…” Eva said, tears streaming down her face.
“I know right now your parents wouldn’t want to see me. I understand… I have a child too… I…” her voice broke.
She wept.
Maverick watched her silently and handed her his handkerchief.
She wiped her tears.
After a few minutes, she calmed down.
Maverick raised his hand.
An attendant came forward, placed a file in front of Eva, and left.
She frowned, confused.
“Open it,” he said.
She did.
PROPERTY SPLIT
Her eyes widened.
“That is fifty percent of everything I own, Evangel. I’ve already signed it. You just need to sign your acceptance,” he said.
“Why are you splitting your property with me?” she asked, her brows furrowing.
“Check the next page.”
