Chapter 200 Eva’s Scheme II

Chapter 200 Eva’s Scheme II
For the next few days, Eva played her role beautifully.

“Daddy, I want strawberry jam,” Havilah said.

The brightest smile graced Killian’s lips as he placed the bread with strawberry jam on her plate. He smoothed her hair.

“Let’s play video games after this, okay?”

She nodded.

“Killian, about what we discussed last night,” Eva said, swirling the tea in her cup.

She had pleaded with him to allow her to do a private burial for her father. Even if it meant only the three of them would be present. She wanted him to have a place where she could always honor him. He was still her father.

Killian had frowned at the idea of them leaving the house.

“Fine. We are only going to be outside for an hour. I will choose a private and discreet place, okay?”

“Okay. Thank you, Killian. You are the best.”

He smiled.

Eva joined them in playing video games. They laughed like a small happy family. It was a happy moment.

Killian finally took them out. They boarded the car and drove to a private cemetery, where they piled stones together to make it elevated enough to look like a real burial spot.

Flowers were placed on the grave.

Eva cried. Killian consoled her.

It took only an hour, as they had discussed, before they decided to head back home.

In the car, Eva suddenly winced in pain.

“What’s wrong?” Killian asked worriedly.

“My tummy hurts so badly,” she said, her face contorted in pain. A painful sob tore from her throat, scaring the living daylight out of Killian.

“We should head to the hospital then,” he said, already turning the steering wheel.

“No… no need. It’s my time of the month. Since I gave birth to Avi, it has been very painful. The doctors already prescribed a drug for me. I don’t have it. Let’s stop at a pharmacy…” she grimaced.

Killian drove to the nearest pharmacy.

“What medicine is that?” he asked.

“Acetaminophen,” she said, her face still twisted in pain.

Killian hurried out of the car to go get the drug.

After he left, Eva pulled out his phone from where he had left it. She turned to Havilah.

“We are going to call Daddy, and you must tell him exactly what I told you to say, okay?”

The little girl nodded.

Heaven stood pacing in the bathroom, her palms sweaty. She stared at herself in the mirror, running a hand over her hair multiple times and biting her lips.

It was the longest five minutes of her life.

She finally looked down at the test strip lying face down.

She realized she had missed it. She couldn’t remember the last time she had seen her period, and her whole body felt off.

Nausea. Dizziness. Her tummy slightly bloated. Her breasts tender.

She wanted to assume it was all in her head. Maybe she had forgotten she already had her period and the symptoms were just it coming again.

She reached out with shaky hands and turned the test strip.

“Pregnant” glared back at her.

She turned the other one.

Two bold lines stared back at her.

This wasn’t what she planned for.

She cursed herself over and over. It wasn’t supposed to happen—not right now.

The door suddenly opened.

Maverick stepped inside.

She quickly hid both tests behind her back.

“W-what are you doing here, Maverick?” she asked, her heart beating so loudly she was sure he could hear it.

“I missed you so much,” he said, pulling her into his embrace.

“You shouldn’t be here. Your brother is lying outside in a coma. It’s disrespectful,” she whispered.

Maverick sighed.

“Exactly. He doesn’t need that much attention like you give him. Heaven, let’s go to the room,” he said, reaching to squeeze her bum.

Heaven knew exactly why he wanted to.

They couldn’t—for many reasons.

“Maverick, I am married, and so are you. We should keep a safe distance from each other,” she told him. “If you don’t mind, I have things to do.”

She brushed past him.

He grabbed her hand—the one holding the pregnancy tests.

Heaven swallowed in panic.

He pulled her back to where she had been standing.

“I allowed you to care for him because I am trying to respect your decision. If it’s going to be the reason you avoid me, I will not respect that decision anymore. Don’t test me, Heaven.”

She took a step closer.

“It is my life. I don’t need your consent to do what I please. If you would excuse me, I have a husband to care for.”

Maverick’s jaw tightened.

Heaven brushed past him again.

He wanted to pull her back but stopped himself.

After she left, his phone rang.

He pulled it out and answered.

“Hello, Daddy…”
