Chapter 202 Liam is home
She carefully flipped the next page. Her countenance darkened.
DIVORCE AGREEMENT.
“Sign it too. I am offering you half of everything I own in return. I have arranged a private jet that will take you to any country of your choice. Havilah will visit you from time to time,” he said.
“Maverick, I already told you I have nothing to do with what my father did…”
“This marriage shouldn’t have happened in the first place. There’s no need tying each other down. Let’s go our separate ways,” he told her, sliding a pen toward her.
“You are not tying me down, Maverick. I love you so much, and I always have, all my life. Please, you can’t do this to me. You and Avi are all I have now,” she pleaded.
“I’m giving you a chance to start afresh in a new place. With time, you will have friends and find someone else to love. Ivory City won’t be conducive for you anymore. It’s best you leave.”
“Is this about Heaven and her child? Maverick, you have been cheating on me throughout this marriage, and I have endured it. How can you always treat me unfairly? I gave you a child too,” she raised her voice slightly.
“I am offering half of everything I own for my shortcomings. The government has seized everything your father owns. The investors in your art gallery have pulled out. Accept it, Evangel.”
“You were so nice to me before all this. I thought maybe you had started giving us a chance… Did Mother and Father accept this?”
“They only want Havilah. I am offering more.”
Her hand dug painfully into her lap. She turned and looked at Havilah, who was playing with the attendant.
“So you are tearing me away from my daughter?” She looked back at him, tears sliding down her face.
“She will visit you,” he said.
She smiled painfully and bit her lips.
“I’m helpless now. From grace to grass. Nobody can fight for me anymore. Do I have a choice? I don’t. At least you are generous enough to let me see my daughter again.”
She wiped her tears, picked up the pen, and signed both papers. Then she stood up, grabbed the documents, and walked away. Her eyes burned darkly, making it clear this was far from over.
Havilah watched her mother walk out without her. Before she could react, Maverick had already lifted her up.
“Let’s go home, Avi.”
“How about Mummy?”
“She won’t be staying with us from now on, Avi. I will take you to her when the time is right.”
Havilah felt sad. She wanted both her mummy and daddy.
Heaven had not seen Liam or Rebecca in days, as they had been staying at the Johnsons’ and attending school from there, thanks to Rayan and Samantha. She had wanted to buy a house before all this.
Samantha had told her Fabian had locked himself up since then, finding it hard to accept everything. Old man Johnson had not been seen in a while.
“I’m sorry,” Samantha apologized. “Could you tell the security to open up for us? Liam and Rebecca have been throwing tantrums. I can’t handle it,” Samantha said.
Heaven facepalmed. “I will let them know right now,” she said, adjusting the duvet around Boyle and checking his IV drip before leaving.
“Or I could just show them Liam’s face. I’m sure they would let me in,” Samantha said.
“I don’t think they would let strangers in just by showing a face, though,” Heaven replied.
“They will surely let in a doppelgänger,” Samantha joked.
That little kid she carried for nine months alone had decided to be a copy and paste of Maverick. The more he grew, the more prominent the features became.
Heaven laughed. “I will let them know.”
“See, it worked. I told you it would. I just brought the window down a bit and stuck Liam’s face in the security cam, and the gate opened,” Samantha said, elated. “Face card to opportunities.”
“Aunt Sam, please,” Liam’s voice sounded through the phone.
“Mummy, Mummy,” Rebecca’s small voice followed.
Heaven’s heart melted. She quickly hurried downstairs to meet them at the front. She had missed them terribly too.
Unbeknownst to her, a hand twitched after she left and the door closed.
Butler Rose had already received information about the incoming guests from security—it was protocol—so she could welcome them.
The car stopped. Immediately, Liam stepped out. All eyes were locked on him.
He helped Rebecca out of the car. He didn’t bother about the others; he just wanted to see his mama and take her home with him. A slight frown rested on his face.
“Brother Liam, why are they looking at you like that?” Rebecca asked innocently.
“I wonder. Such a hassle,” he muttered.
“Welcome home, little master,” Butler Rose greeted him.
Her words confirmed the servants’ suspicions immediately. They bowed deeply in respect.
Heaven came out hurriedly.
“Mama!” Liam’s features softened instantly. He ran toward her.
Heaven smiled. She bent down and hugged him. “My munchkin,” she said, pressing kisses to his face.
The servants’ eyes widened, but they didn’t move or dare make a sound. Why did he look like the second young master and was calling the first young master’s wife Mama?
All the servants were new; none had been there seven years ago. Only Butler Rose knew the truth.
Rebecca ran after him. “Mummy!”
Heaven easily lifted her up and dropped kisses on her cheeks. “My little princess. I missed you both.”
“Mama, let’s go home,” Liam said bluntly.
Eleanor had been in the living room when they arrived. She stood watching the little boy. Her heart clenched with regret. She didn’t know what had driven her actions before, but now she regretted everything. She hadn’t had the nerve to speak to Heaven all this while because her cruelty kept flashing in her mind.
“Liam…” Heaven started.
“Hi… you can’t leave yet,” Eleanor interrupted.
They looked at her. She forced an awkward smile. “The kitchen prepared food for you… and we have, uh… horses at the stable. You would love them,” she blurted.
The atmosphere went eerily quiet.
“Liam, greet your grandmother,” Heaven said, breaking the awkwardness.
Liam looked at his mother first. “Good afternoon, Grandma,” he said. “I would love to see the horses,” he added.
Eleanor stepped closer carefully and bent down to his eye level. “I will have snacks prepared for you, okay?” she said, brushing his hair.
“Okay, Grandma.”
Butler Rose excused herself to the kitchen to have it prepared.
Heaven didn’t want to have anything to do with past issues. It was better for her to bear it alone.
“What the fuck is happening in this house? Are the two sons sharing a woman?” a servant with a neatly trimmed bob whispered.
“Isn’t it obvious? But I think since the first young master was presumed dead, maybe the first young madam started seeing the second young master,” another servant with her hair packed in a smooth bun said while stirring the pot.
“That child looks at least seven years old, and the second young master has been married for seven years. Was he seeing her while married to the second young madam? That’s unfair. She’s so nice and pretty,” the bob-haired servant said, shaking her head. “Even though her father was evil.”
The other maid looked around cautiously. “The day the first young master was found, Master Maverick asked me to go prepare a bath for his wife.” She leaned closer. “I saw her in bed with the Edwards’ family chauffeur.”
The servant gasped.
“That’s not all… I also heard their conversation. The little miss is not of the Richards’ blood; she is the chauffeur’s child.”
The door opened.
