Chapter 73

Elvira went to Lael and held him. She just completely lost her mind earlier. How could she just do something like that? Elvira turned her head and watched the men who were jumping to the lake in order to survive. Looking at the men, Elvira bit her lower lip and looked at Ezki. She cannot stay here any longer and she doesn't want to stay here anymore. She just wanted to go somewhere that no one would be able to find her and her children. With that thought in her mind, she parted her lips to speak. While all the men were busy surviving from Ezki’s fire, she would just escape from here. But her heart ached seeing this beautiful place ruined.

“Ezki… take us away..” Placing Lael on Ezki’s back, Elvira went to her little baby and took her into her arms. Hugging her against her chest, she grabbed the cloth bag along with her and then food before getting onto Ezki’s back. After that the dragon fl3w awat before the men who were there could reach Elvira or anyone. Ezki flew far away and finally stopped at a place where Elvira could be at ease. Climbing down from Ezki’s back, she looked at the place where Ezki had brought her. It was a gigantic tree. And in the middle of the trunk, there was a door like thing. Elvira looked at Ezki who was looking at her.

“Where is this?” Elvira questioned. She had no idea where this place was and she just didn't know if she should go in or not because she was new here. And what if this is someone’s home? What if the person hurt her children? Countless thoughts roamed all over her mind and she hesitated to go through the door. As she waited there, Ezki moved closer to her and gently pushed her towards the door as if he was asking her to go in. Elvira sighed. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Then she nodded at Ezki because she believed the dragon.

Pushing the huge door open slightly, Elvira entered the tree. She was carrying Macaria while Lael was holding the hem of the shirt that Elvira was wearing. As soon as Elvira entered the tree, she was shocked seeing how gorgeous and how creative. She felt as if she was walking inside of a castle which was made of wood. She wondered who lived here and she just simply wondered to see this everywhere. Even though it was so beautiful, she stopped without going any further. As she stopped there, she saw a huge box more than six feet long. Elvira didn’t want to go any further but seeing it, her heart was covered with curiosity.

Ignoring everything, Elvira stepped towards the box which was kept there gracefully. There was a glass on the top of the box and Elvira knew that she would be able to see what’s inside of the box once she reached there. As Elvira went there holding Macaria, suddenly she woke up. Elvira smiled at the little girl in her hands thinking that she was hungry but she was not crying or showing any signs of hunger which made Elvira frown. Without looking at what’s inside of the box, Elvira walked away and leisurely pulled her shirt down and started to feed her.

“Daddy?” While Elvira was feeding the baby, she was stunned hearing Lael’s little voice. Her mind went numb and she turned to Lael who was placing his little hands on the glass of the box while looking inside of it. Daddy? Why is he calling Lain? Elvira stared at the way Lael was looking at the box. So many emotions and feelings surged into her mind. Elvira lowered her eyes and looked at her little daughter who was drinking milk while closing her eyes. Just because she was drinking milk like that, Elvira didn’t want to go anywhere and disturb her.

Elvira waited there until Macaria stopped drinking milk. After she was done, Elvira kissed her forehead and stepped towards Lael who was still looking inside of the box. Elvira looked into it and her pupils shrunk seeing Lain who was lying inside of it. He was covered with ice and the box was filled with ice. A gasp escaped from Elvira and she bit her lower lip harder. What is this and what’s happening? How could he be here? He was buried weeks away. Even though she wanted to keep his body inside of that room, everyone strictly refused her idea so she let it happen according to the rules and regulations in the pack. But why? But why… his body lying here?

“Daddy… see.. Sister.. Won’t you wake up until both me and my sister grow up?” Lael muttered looking at him. Elvira’s chest heaven up. She felt the suffocation and confusion in her mind. How could he be here? What happened and how did something like this happen? She was totally bewildered. Her eyes covered with tears and slowly they dripped down through her face watching his face which was as pale as a white sheet. She thought she would never be able to see him ever again in her lifetime but it turned out she could see his dead body once again. Lowering her eyes, Elvira controlled her tears so hard until she heard the sound of someone’s footsteps.

“Why are you looking at him?” Elvira turned to the person who just spoke to see it was a gorgeous woman. Seeing her, Elvira’s heart tightened. Why does a woman keep his body? He was hers! Elvira stared at the woman and she scanned her carefully. Wearing a red dress with red jewelries. She looked really beautiful but Elvira had no mind about the woman’s beauty as she had countless questions to ask. She wanted to know why Lain is here and what the hell this woman is doing with his dead body. Even after his death, Elvira didn’t want any other woman to keep Lain like this.

“I’m looking at him because he’s mine. Why do you have his body here?” Elvira questioned. Her question made the woman let out a cold smile. Shaking her head, she stepped towards Elvira and looked at the little baby in her hands. The baby had her eyes opened and she witnessed those glowing emeralds. Soon after, she looked at the little boy who was standing at the box while looking inside of it. He looked like nothing but the man who was laying inside of the ice box. Of course, it must be his son.

“You have no right to question me while staying at my own house. I am keeping him because I want him. Is there any problem with it?” Elvira’s mind exploded hearing the woman’s answer. Elvira shook her head and bit her lower lip harder. How could this woman say something like that? Elvira stared at the woman with burning anger inside of her heart. How can she want him? Who the hell is she to tell that she wants him? Elvira felt so angry. She really really hated it when women looked at Lain as if they were trying to eat him and now this woman is keeping him here.

“It’s clear that you can’t have him. He’s my children’s father and he’s gone… Why did you take him here?” Elvira asked her. The woman stepped towards the box and looked at Lain who was lying inside of it. She stared at Lain for so long and then moved her eyes to Elvira with a weird smile on her face. Elvira’s heart tightened seeing her smile. Why did this woman look so evil and weird? She asked herself, staring at the woman for a while, Elvira moved her eyes to Lain. She looked at Lain’s lifeless profile and closed her eyes with pain. Taking a deep breath, she looked at the woman.

“Do you have any way to make him come back to life? Is that why you are keeping him with you?” Elvira asked despite everything in her heart. The woman didn’t answer her immediately, she just simply stared at Lain. Elvira's eyes never left the woman’s face. She was staring at the woman seeking an answer. If she could make Lain come back to life, she would do anything. She won’t hesitate to do anything for him because she can’t live without him. She needed him. She just simply needed his love and protection towards her and her children.

“He’s dead.. Can’t you see? How can I make him come back to life?” Elvira’s heart sank in the deep sea of both pain and disappointment. She lowered her eyes and looked at the baby in her arms. Tears rolled down from her eyes again and she nodded. She knew that it was impossible. She knew that making him come back to her was not possible and she was running after a mirage. But still, her heart needs him to be alive and be with her. She had no idea how to answer Macaria when she asked her about her father. How can Elvira tell that her father died even before her birth? But what to do? She had to face the future all alone with two kids in her arms. That’s her fate.

“My children need him… I don’t know how to live… without him..” Elvira’s words were totally honest and she broke into tears. But without letting herself cry any longer, Elvira managed to hold her cries and then she looked at the woman who was looking at her. Elvira had no idea who she was and why she was keeping him but since Elvira had no help from any other person and her children were in danger, she had to ask for help from her. She needed somewhere to live until she felt that outside was safe for her to live with her children alone. Every person who was there to protect her had left her now.

“Can I stay here for a few days? I swear that I will leave here once I feel everything is alright”elvira muttered. The woman stared at Elvira and sighed with a small nod in her face. She was not upset with the fact that Elvira and kids are staying here and she could see how helpless they are. As a witch, she can understand that Elvira had just given birth to the baby in her hands. It must be so hard for a woman to go through something like this as soon as she gives birth. Looking at her, she felt so pitiful for Elvira.

“You can stay here” Elvira smiled at her and nodded at her with gratitude. Elvira felt relieved after hearing her. She felt that this place is really safe but she cannot continue living here. She should not bother people and she should just simply leave here once everything is settled. Elvira moved her eyes to the woman again and sighed. She didn't know her name and anything about her. It would be better to get to know about her.

“Well, I’m Elvira… Lain’s mate. And this is our children” Elvira introduced herself to the woman. Upon hearing Elvira, she forced a smile at Elvira and nodded. She clearly knew who Elvira was. She knew that Elvira was the woman that Lain killed to have. She was his mate and she was his everything. He did so many things for her and he loved her so much. He just simply loved her more than he loved his own life. That’s why he died this early. Letting out a deep sigh, she spoke.

“I’m Viana.. A witch” She muttered. Elvira’s heart tightened. A witch.. She looked at Viana and waited for a while before parting her lips to speak. If it’s a witch, could she ask for help? But still she knew that no one can bring him back to life so asking help would be useless. And she just mentioned it before. Without speaking, Elvira smiled at her with a nod. Elvira knew that she cannot trust anyone soon but she trusted Ezki. Ezki would never let any harm come to them and she knew it.

“Well, Elvira… if you want… I can make him come back to life for one day..” Elvira’s heart skipped beat hearing her. Come back to life for one day? One day is enough. But it will be enough for her to show him his daughter. Elvira’s heart was covered with pain and tears rolled down from her eyes. She wanted him for the rest of her life and one day was not enough. Him coming back to life only for twenty four hours means that she will have to go through another heart pain once he leaves.

“Only for one day? Is there no way to make him stay with me for so long?” despite the truth, she asked Viana. Viana stared at Elvira with pain filled eyes and shook her head. She could understand Elvira’s pain. As a woman, she was going through a terrible experience. She was left alone with two children and then some other disgusting men are trying to kill her children. She was utterly helpless and lost, not knowing what to do.

“You are not ready to let go of your children in order to make him come back to life right? Only someone with his blood has to take his place. If you want to make him come back to you forever, I can do it but you have to give me someone who has his blood. It’s impossible right?”
