Chapter 71

“Lael, you.. Take care of sister, until mommy takes a shower?” Elvira looked at Lael who was running around Ezki. hearing her, he stopped running and smiled at her widely before jogging towards her. Elvira placed the baby on the ground and looked at Lael. kneeling near the baby, Lale gently touched her chest before looking at Elvira with a smile. Elvira could see the happiness from his eyes. He just simply loved his sister already. Watching Lael, for a while, she got up from the ground and took exhausted steps towards the lake. She just wanted to clear herself because it was so uncomfortable.

“Mommy… it’s blood on your dress?” As she walked away, she heard Lael’s concerned voice. She turned to him and nodded. As she looked at him, she couldn’t help but see the worried look on his eyes which were similar to Lain whenever he got worried about her. The little face of Lael reminded her of nothing but Lain. he looked so similar to Lain and his little adorable facial features were getting sharp as Lain day by day. Her heart was not in a good state and she felt the burning pain. She was so hurt with the fact that Lain was no longer with her.

“No.… it’s fine baby…” She muttered as she turned And walked towards the lake. Elvira sat on the rock which was near the lake and stared at the calm lake for a while. Her ears were filled with laughter and words of Lain whenever they came here. Tears rolled down from her eyes. Elvira slowly turned and looked back at Lael who was looking at the little baby while caressing her face. Elvira was really really satisfied with the way Lael was treating the baby already. She sighed and placed her water under the water and then got into the lake. The cold water gave shudders to her body. She walked into the lake until the water reached her shoulders.

Taking off of her dress, she washed her body. After she was done cleaning her body, she turned to leave. Then she saw Ezki who was there holding one of Lain's shirts in between his teeth. Elvira smiled seeing him and she stepped out of the lake. Ezky blew his hot breath out making elvira’s body get dried instantly. Patting Exzki’s head, Elvira changed into Lain’s shirt and walked into the cave. She didn’t know what to do. Looking at Lael, she parted her lost to speak.

“Lael… are you hungry?” She asked him. He looked at her and hesitated for a while before shaking his head. Elvira’s heart crumpled from the pain. She could feel that he was hungry but she could understand that the situation around them was not that good. So he was just trying to help her with the situation. Elvira stroked his head. She wanted to do something, she cannot stay here like this. She can feed her daughter but what about her son? He will feel hungry eventually. Elvira looked around the place and sighed. At the same time, she was curious thinking what had happened in the house and why Alec asked her to leave so suddenly.

“Ezki… how did you come out? Where’s Alec? Lain’s beta…” Walking towards Ezki, Elvira questioned. Even though he couldn’t speak Elvira knew that his expressions would explain everything to her everything. When she asked about Alec, Ezki let out a small whine and lowered his head. His reaction stabbed Elvira’s heart. Why? Why did he just look so sad when she asked about Alec? She asked herself while looking at Ezki. clutching the hem of the shirt tightly, she forced herself not to think about anything bad. Nothing must have happened to Alec. she didn’t want to lose him too. She had already lost both Lain and Aunt Maria. How can she endure another death of someone who’s so close to her? Elvira shook her head painfully with disbelief.

“He will be here right? Why don’t you go and take a look at him? Just check on him, will you?” Elvira asked Ezki. Upon hearing her, Ezki stared right into Elvira’s eyes. With the way the dragon’s eyes glowed, Elvria suddenly felt that she was seeing some unclear images. Thos unclear images made her close her eyes. As she closed her eyes, she saw Alec’s wolf who was ripping another set of wolves' necks and fighting. Behind him were all the warriors of Lain. While fighting, Alec’s wolf ran towards the tunnel where Ezki was inside. Then he released Ezki and shifted back into his human form.

“Find your master and protect them. Don’t leave their side” With that statement, Alec shifted back into his wolf and ran away. After he ran, Ezki used his blue fire to melt the tunnel as he fr ele into the sky but all of sudden, he heard a sound of a painful cry of a wolf. Ezki had a sharp vision and he lowered his head looking at the ground to see it was Alec’s wolf who was shot against his chest by a silver bullet. That death hurt Ezky and he growled, firing every man who were enemies.

Elvia gasped and opened her eyes as she saw those things. Her eyes covered with tears and she stared at the dragon’s eyes. Did he just let her see the thing that happened? She knew that Ezki had so many mysterious powers and is this one of those? Her heart sank. She fell on her knees clutching her head. Alec… is he also gone? His heart was pierced by a silver bullet and that means there will not be a chance for him to survive. Pain rocked inside of her. She felt that she was left alone by everyone. She broke into tears and covered her face with her hands. She couldn’t understand what was just happening to them. She was so happy all the time but look at her now. There was no happiness in her heart to be found.

Alec was also gone now, Aunt Maria also left her and then Lain who left her at first. How can she even bear this pain? She can’t… she can't even think about holding this pain in her heart. It’s just soi fucking painful. Why did something like that happen all of sudden? After Lain’s death everything turned upside down. To be honest, everything was because of her. Just because he thought that she would be scared at him and leave him, he never asked for blood from her and he just simply didn’t want to hurt her but now look how many lives got ruined? If she knew that his life was in her hands, she would never hesitate to make him alive. She would give him.

Thinking about the painful fact, Elvira cried harder but she didn’t let any sound come out of her because she didn’t want to make Lael worried about her. Elvira didn’t know what to do and she didn’t know how to face the future without anyone who can support her life. She just had nowhere to go. Going back to her pack will cause troubles and she can’t predict what will happen. At the same time, she cannot take a risk by taking her children to danger. The only safe place she had was the place where she just lived but now, it seems that she has no safety there anymore without the people who used to protect her.

“Lain…. What should I do… I just… can’t!” Elvira whispered, burying her face against her knees. It was so hard for her and she couldn’t help but feel that she was going to die soon because of the stress. She just wanted no one but Lain. She wanted to see him and she just wanted to hug him until all her pain went away. She wanted to have him in her life again. While she was staying like that, she felt someone hugging her from behind. Elvira raised her head and looked to see if it was Lael.

She held her tears back and hugged Lael against her chest with so many emotions in her heart. It’s okay… it’s okay.. Everything will be fine as long as her children are with him. She would just endure all the hardships and raise them. Elvira believed that once Lael grew up, she would be at peace. Since his father was a good man, he will also follow his father’s steps. Hugging Lael against her chest tightly, she kissed his head and then moved her eyes to her little baby to see she was sleeping so soundly. She should protect these children because that’s the only thing Lain had left for her apart from the pain.

Even though she wanted to protect them, she knew that she had to leave this place and gho out. She would take them somewhere that they can live peacefully. Thinking about places, Elvira shook her head. Nothing came to her mind. Elvira sighed and looked at Ezki. she couldn’t help but smile seeing the way the dragon was looking at her. He looked so obedient and innocent. She remembered the first day Lain took her to see him in that tunnel. She was so surprised to see the dragon. Moving her hand, elvira caressed the rough stone like skin on him and smiled.

“Mommy… are we not going home again?” Lael questioned Elvira separating her from her thoughts. She lowered her head and looked at her little son who was hugging her. He wanted to go home right? She also wanted to go home but without even knowing about anything, she couldn’t think about going home. She has no idea when the danger will come to her. She cannot be careless as long as she was with two children in her arms. But still, she wanted to go back and take a look at her house and get to know what had happened. She was still clueless.

“We will just wait here for a while and then let’s see what’s going to happen okay baby?” Elvira muttered. Lael nodded at her and hid his face against her warm embrace. While she was staying like that, she suddenly heard the sound of Lael’s stomach growling. Elvira’s heart tightened. She looked at the boy and sighed. How is she going to find food now? She had no food in her bag either. Thinking about it, Elvira slowly got up from the ground and took Lael into the cave with her fragile steps. She had the tearing pain between her legs but she completely ignored it as she walked.

She cannot be weak and sick at this point. She should just survive along with her two kids. Placing Lael on the ground, she kissed her forehead. He was looking at her with a pair of big emerald eyes which were filled with countless emotions. There was fear and sadness in those eyes. Caressing his face, Elvira spoke. She couldn’t bear to see her son like this. He was not a boy who had ever been hungry. He would always get his food at the right time.

“Lael, mommy will go and get something for us to eat okay?” Elvira said but he held her hands while shaking his head. He didn’t want Elvira to go anywhere because he had something in his mind. He was scared thinking just like his daddy went to sleep until he grew up, she would also go to sleep and won’t come to him. He already missed his daddy so much and he just wanted to be with daddy but he knew daddy won’t come until he grows up.

“Mommy.. Don’t go.. I’m not hungry” he muttered. Elvira knew that he was lying. She shook her head and kissed his forehead. She can go to the beach and find a restaurant to have food. She knew how to go out. She didn’t think there would be any danger from here. Speaking to Lael for a while and asking him to take care of Macaria, she walked away. She just left the place. Coming to the beach, Elvira looked around. She couldn’t see anyone on the beach. Wandering around, Elvira stopped at a restaurant but to her surprise, there was no one.

“Hello? Is anyone here?” She called but no one answered her or talked to her. Letting out a deep sigh, Elvira looked at the food. She wanted to take food but she didn’t want to steal since there[s no other way. She took some food from the restaurant and put all the things into a bag as she walked back. While she was walking, she heard the sound of heavy footsteps. Elvira swiftly turned back and looked to see it was a woman running towards her.

“Luna… run… they are coming” she screamed from far away. They are coming? Who? When she thought about it, suddenly with a gunshot the woman fell down.
