Chapter 70

Those wendigos would surely enjoy her flesh once they killed her and they wouldn't even let Lael alive. So Elvira couldn’t let that happen. Holding the dagger even tighter, when she was about to stab another wendigo suddenly she heard the loud grunt along with a sound of heavy wings. As she felt it, Elvira sighed. She was not that unlucky and it was not her deathday. She placed the dagger aside and turned to Lael who had a face filled with disgust looking at the creatures near them. Of course, wendigos are really disgusting and no one can deny that fact.

“Come here baby…” Elvira hugged Lael against her chest protecting him from her body. It didn’t take much time for Elvira to hear the loud growl along with hotness against her back. It was burning hot but still she didn’t get burned. After the hotness slowly disappeared, she broke the hug between hers and Lael before turning to look out of the cave. She couldn’t move her body and she felt her time was almost over as she couldn’t hold herself back. She couldn’t hold her baby back anymore.

“Ezki…. Ezki is here…” Lael shouted as Ezki put his large face into the cave and kissed Elvira's face. Elvira smiled at him. After all, it was always Lain who was behind her luck. Moving her trembling hand, she caressed the rough skin of Ezki’s face. By that time, Lael had already run and hugged Ezki’s neck. He gently blew his hot smoke against Lael’s face, making him giggle. Even if Ezki was a dragon, he was just like a part of this family. He knew that fact that his master was gone and before his death, he came to visit Ezki to say goodbye and he completely passed the ownership of Ezki’s to Elvira.

From that day onwards, Elvira was his master and owner. Elvira tried to move but she failed to do it. Seeing her struggling and feeling that the new member of the family was going to come soon, Ezki pulled his head out of the cave and let Lael come out. Then he helped Lael’s tiny body to get onto his back. After he was done, he again put his head and dragged the bag inside of the cave out. Ezki was a dragon who was so rich with intelligence. He was a rare dragon and he could easily understand everything around him without any mistake and now he had understood the situation here.

After that, he moved his head and gently kissed Elvira’s face before trying to help her to get to the cave. Elvira hugged Ezki’s neck and managed to stand up. Soon she was taken out of the cave as Ezki simply placed her on his body. Placing her on his body and taking the bag from his mouth, Ezki slowly flew to the sky. Elvira had no idea how Ezki came out of his place and how he found her here but she was glad. Not knowing where to go, Elvira couldn’t help but ask Ezki to take her to the place where only few of them knew about.

Ezki took both Elvira and Lael to Lain’s secret place. While there, he placed Elvira in the little cave. After coming there, Elvira stared at Ezki for a while as her eyes were covered with tears. She remembered the last time she came here with Lain. did she ever think that it was the last time? No wonder why he asked her not to tell anyone about this place. He was always informing her about his death even if she failed to understand it. Wiping her tears, she looked at Lael who was so busy while touching Ezki’s strong wings. Instantly, she felt the sharp pain and she bit her lower lip.

“Ezki… take him for a ride… don’t come here until it's a few hours. Protect him please..” Ezki let out a small growl and licked Elvira’s face with his hot tongue, making her smile. Ezki could understand everything, the only thing he couldn't do was talk. As he understood what Elvira said, he took Lael and flew away. Elvira stared at them leaving and let out a deep sigh. She lowered her head and looked at her belly. She should do this all alone now. She didn’t know how to do this but she had to do this alone as no one was here to support her. If Aunt Maria stayed with her here….. Elvira’s heart cried for Maria and she grabbed the bag taking out the clothes. She had a few shirts of Lain and then her dresses.

Taking one of her dresses, she laid it on the ground and moved onto it, she still; had her dagger in her hands and she placed it aside. Lifting the dress she was wearing up, she took off the soaked underwear that she was wearing. While Elvira was doing everything, she felt the baby was struggling to come out and she knew that she had no time to do anything. Elvira laid her back against the stone wall of the cave and closed her eyes. She took a deep breath. Her heart was pounding against her chest with both pain and fear. She should do this… she should give birth to her baby.

With that strong thought in her mind, she drew her shaky hand to the clothes and took one of Lain’s shirts. After that she crumpled the shirt and placed it inside of her mouth. She didn’t want to scream and she wanted something to vent her pain. With that, Elvira remembered the first time she gave birth to her baby and took everything that the doctors said to her into her mind. Slowly she started to push the baby out. Pain rocked inside of her and she felt she was going to die with this pain. Tears in her eyes dripped down from her face making the shirt in her mouth soaked. Her body was dangerously trembling.

Elvira couldn’t help but think about Lain. If he could be here, she wouldn’t have to go through something like this. He would have helped her to give birth to this baby. The more she thought about Lain, the more her heart got colder and hurt as it encouraged her. Elvira felt as if her lower body was cut off by her body because it was such an unbearable pain. She had gone numb. She couldn’t feel that she had legs anymore. Her body had turned ice cold yet her body was covered with sweat. Elvira struggled for so long and finally she managed to make the baby’s head come out.

She smiled seeing the baby… then she again pushed hard using every bit of her strength in her body. But it was not enough for her to make her body come out fully. Elvira’s breathing were dangerously heavy. She felt she was going to faint anytime soon but she cannot lose her consciousness at this point. If something like that happened, all her efforts would go to waste. She didn’t want to let that happen. She had dug her nails into her palms and t was already injured. Elvira’s vision was blurred; she was so tired and sleepy. She moved her eyes and looked out of the cave to see how beautiful the place was.

The lake was so calm while all the flowers were dancing according to the wind’s instructions. So beautiful and so lovely. As she looked at it, tears continuously fell down from her eyes. She couldn’t help but think about Lain. Lain was the one to take her here and he was the one to introduce this breathtaking place. She always came here with him but.. This is the first time she’s here without his presence. His absence stabbed her heart brutally for one more time. She couldn’t help looking at the illusion in her head and she could see Lain who was throwing Lael up and down.

Elcia calmed herself down. She shouldn’t break down emotionally while thinking about him. Thinking about him will give ger nothing but undying pain. With those thoughts, she pushed hard for one more time gritting her teeth and finally the baby came out. Elvira looked at the baby and smiled painfully. She was relieved. Ignoring the numbness in her body, she moved and took the baby to her hands. But still the umbilical cord was connected to each other. Elvira didn’t move her eyes to see the gender of the baby, she just stared at the little face for a while and took the dagger, cutting off the cord.

As she cut it off, the baby started to cry. Elvira hugged the baby against her chest and kissed the forehead. Not long after, she saw that the baby was a girl. Her heart tightened. He was right… Lain was right about it. Her lips trembled and soon she broke into tears as she cried loudly remembering him. He was not here to hold his little daughter. He was not here to see how hard it was for her to give birth to his second child.. And he will never be here to hold his children again. Why? Why did he have to die like that.. He never deserved that death.

“Lain… it’s a girl…. I’ll call her Macaria.. Like you asked” She muttered hugging the baby. Elvira had no idea how many hours she spent while struggling to give birth to her daughter. And now it has been almost thirty minutes since she was born. Elvira’s body was slowly getting back to normal from the numbness she had. With that, Elvira hardly got up from the ground and stepped towards the lake. Her wolf was giving all her strength to walk. Arriving at a corner of the lake, she washed the baby and again walked back.

She was so weak and she couldn't even walk properly. She remembered the time she was in bed after giving birth to Lael. she never walked… Lain just simply carried her everywhere she wanted to go. But now he’s not with her and that hurt her so damn much. It was so hard for her to survive her life without him since she used to depend on him. Coming to the cave again, she took another shirt of Lain and placed the baby on it. She covered her tiny body with it and looked at her face.

She still didn’t open her eyes. Elvira was excited to see her eyes. She wanted to see if those eyes looked like Lain or not. While she was waiting, she felt so exhausted and she just wanted to have a good sleep. It was not a simple task to give birth to a baby all alone. Especially with a baby with Lain’s blood. Elvira wanted to wash her body but she couldn’t do it. She didn’t want to leave the baby. Lain on the ground next to the baby, she placed her hand on her body and sighed while looking at her. She never moved her eyes away from her daughter.

She couldn’t help but think about how happy Lain would be when he got a daughter too. He knew that he was having a daughter but still he had to leave them. It must have been so hard for him to face the truth. Elvira never knew that he was going through something like that in his mind as she always thought he was happy and healthy. He never showed any difference to her as he always smiled at her and accepted her with his warm arms. It doesn’t matter now, her heart knows that he will be happy wherever she goes. He must be watching her from heaven.

Elvira closed her eyes and hot tear droplets fell down from her. Not long after she felt the baby was moving and she was about to cry. Elvira immediately opened her eyes and looked at the baby. She had already opened her eyes. Her eyes were just nothing but little emerald orbs. They were glowing. So she also inherited Lain’s eyes? Elvira’s heart was covered with so many emotions that she didn’t know how to let out. She innocently smiled at the baby and took her into her arms. Pushing down her dress, she fed the baby. While she was feeding, Ezki came back with Lael.

Elvira looked at them and sighed. Aas Lael jumped down from Ezki’s body, he looked at Elvira. Seeing that his mother was holding a tiny baby, Lael’s eyes covered with excitement and he ran towards Elvira. Kneeling in front of her, he looked at the tiny baby who was drinking milk from his mother like he used to do. His face was covered with an innocent smile. He giggled and looked at Elvira. Elvira kissed his little forehead seeing how happy and how adorable he is.

“Sister…. So beautiful..” Lael was looking at her eyes which were similar to his. He parted his little lips and said that. Moving his tiny hand, he gently poked her little cheek. With what he did, she moved her hand to touch Lael. She was just so small but she’s already cute and lovely. She was drinking milk but her eyes were on Lael’s face and never left his face. It was just like the day that Lael stared at Lain when he held him for the first time.

“DADDY IT’S A SISTER……..” Lael screamed with happiness as he ran towards Ezki and hugged his neck. He wanted to inform his daddy that what his daddy said was the truth. He had a sister..
