Chapter 66

Elvira opened her eyes with a burning headache. As she opened her eyes she was greeted with the unfamiliar room and she immediately understood that she was in hospital. Elvira stared at the ceiling above her wishing that what she experienced earlier should be a nightmare. She hoped, she was just dreaming. Tears dripped down through her face and she clutched the bedsheet tightly. She believed it… she was just dreaming and Lain must be alright. He will come to see her here. With that thought in her chest, she bit her lower lip harder and forced herself not to cry. Not long after she heard the sound of the door opening to her room.

Hope filled Elvira's heart and she turned her head to look at the person who entered the room with excitement and so much hope in her eyes. She wanted to see Lain. She believed that she was just dreaming and nothing was real. She wanted to see Lain coming into her room right now. As she looked at the person, Elvira’s heart crumpled from the pain.. It was not Lain. it was not her Lain.. it was just Alec who entered the room. Looking at Alec, Elvira’s eyes were covered with tears and she covered her mouth from her palm as she broke into tears. Was he… was he really gone?

“Lain….. Please… come back…. Goddess! How can.. I live without you!” Elvira sobbed. Clutching the dress she was wearing, she cried so hard. She had no idea what to do. She couldn’t bear the pain in her heart. She couldn’t accept the fact that he will not be there for her ever again in her life. She shook her head with that thought. She felt the anger and pain in her chest. She was angry at herself for not being able to understand him. She was angry because she failed him so many times while he treated her so well. He had never ever abused her in any way. He had never hurt her. He had never ever shouted at her no matter what she would do.

“Please… bring him… back Alec….” Elvira moved her eyes to Alec who was standing there while looking at her with pity in his eyes. Her words made Alec’s body stiffened. He clenched his jaws. If… if he could bring Lain back to life using his, he wouldn’t hesitate for it. He would never ever hesitate to make him come back to life. Seeing the way Elvira was crying and suffering, Alec felt his heart was burning. But more than Elvira’s action hurt his heart, that little boy’s actions stabbed him brutally. He was so small and had no idea about what had happened to Lain.

After Elvira was sent into the hospital, Lael followed him everywhere asking him so many questions about Lain. he wondered when his daddy would wake up and talk to him. He wondered why he suddenly went to sleep. He even asked Alec if he should also sleep once he grew up. Those little childish questions made Alec lose his mind. How can he say that his father was gone and will never return? How can he fill that little mind with so many complicated things? He couldn't answer those questions.

“How do you want the funeral to happen?” Despite her cries and words, Alec asked her. She should face the truth. Everyone should! Upon hearing him, Elvira wiped her tears and clenched her jaws. She stared at Alec’s face and looked away. A funeral? No! She didn’t want a fucking funeral! She wanted to keep Lain with her for the rest of her life. She wanted to see him. She wanted to be with him. How can she let him live alone? Even if he was dead, he must be watching her. He will feel sad if she buries him. Shaking her head, Elvira looked at Alec again with a serious expression on her face.

“No! No! He’s not dead! Just keep him inside of the room where he used to keep blood. He will wake up soon” Alec’s mind went numb. His pupils contracted hearing what Elvira said. Clenching his fists, he stared at Elvira’s eyes to see that she looked both serious and empty. Her eyes had turned into something empty and there were no emotions in them. Her face was deadly pale as she looked at him and shook her head. Alec couldn’t help but feel pity for her. He didn’t know what to do.. But suddenly when he remembered about Lain’s step mother, his heart sank.. He swiftly scanned Elcira’s face.

Her eyes.. Her expressionless face and her denial to believe that he’s dead… these things… he remembered Lain’s step mother also turned like this when she learned that his father was gone and cannot find him. Just because he disappeared all of sudden without a trace, she went crazy. She acted like this. She would always wait for him to come home with Natalia because Natalia was also dead but she refused to believe it just like Elvira right now.. No! He didn’t want Elvira’s to go crazy like it happened with Lain’s step mother. Alec felt the fear and he stepped towards the bed looking at Elvira’s ridiculously empty eyes.

“You have to accept the fact, Luna. he’s gone! We have to hold the funeral for him” Alec said, looking into Elvira’s eyes. She stared at him and suddenly her eyes turned cold. She strictly shook her head. Alec’s heart sank seeing her expression. Keeping Lain inside of the blood room will make Elvira keep his body as much as she wants but that doesn't matter here. Lain should have his peace now. Elvira’s eyes were covered with tears and they rolled down from her eyes slowly. Looking at the way she cried, Alec felt nothing but the burning pain. He asked Lain to talk to her but yet Lain just simply refused to tell her the truth. He had to live! He had the ability to live if he had uttered the truth in front of Elvira without hiding.

“He will wake up… He will wake up for me right? I am pregnant and shouldn’t he be there when I give birth? Last time, it was because of him I managed to give birth to Lael like that. So I need him to be there for me” Elvira’s voice was shaking as she muttered. Alec stared at her and helplessly lowered his head. She was pregnant and she had to go through a lot of pain when she gave birth to the baby. He couldn’t help it. He had no way to help her and he.. He just didn’t know and he didn’t want to meddle with her life but what to do now? He was also totally depressed at this point.

“Alec… please.. Tell me he will be there… please.. I can’t accept his death… I’m dying” Elvira sobbed. Alec’s eyes reddened and soon they were suppressed by the tears. How can he tell her that Lain will be there for her? How can he give her false hope and how can he lie to her when the result of everything is in front of his own eyes. Looking at Elvira, he stepped closer to her and caressed her hair. As he caressed her hair, she looked up at him and covered her face. He wanted her to face the truth and be strong instead of crying like this. He understood what kind of pain she’s going through now but she had to endure it.

“Be strong. Didn’t he always ask you to be strong? He said everything for you and Lael and the child in your belly. He’s gone now. Let him go peacefully. Crying for him will not do anything but hold him around you without letting go. He must be watching you, how can he even bear to leave when you are crying like this? Stop crying. Your cries will not make him come back to you, you are just tiring yourself and tiring the baby. You know that your emotions will affect the baby and now she has grown up. Please pay attention to yourself. I don’t know but he asked me to take care of you and his children before leaving. I should do justice to his words. Please.. I need your corporation for it”

Elvira listened to Alec’s voice carefully and she lowered her head. She looked at her belly and wiped her tears. Her emotions are affecting the baby and she knows it but.. But how could she endure the pain of losing him? These tears are falling down from her eyes unintentionally. Her cries were also the same and she was not thinking about anything but she[s crying because of the pain in her chest. Stroking her belly, Elvira remained silent for so long while recalling what Lain told her all the time. He said that he wouldn’t leave her but yet he left. No wonder why she had such a dream that night. He walked away asking her not to follow him. Everything has a reason and now she understands the reason for the evening.

She had never known that he had to leave once he turned thirty. She arranged everything for his birthday. No matter how hard it was for her to stand up and work with her pregnancy, she still made his birthday cake for him. She had to let him eat the cake last night. She had to let him taste it when he asked her. But she never expected that his birthday would be his deathday. How could.. She even guessed something like that when everyone was hiding everything from her? Pain rose inside of her chest again but she didn’t let her eyes shed tears. So many painful thoughts roamed all over her mind making her so hard to breathe.

She thought about him. She remembers every little thing about him. She remembered how happy he was when she gave birth to Lael. he was such a good father. He was the best. Even though everyone calls him a beast who kills people for blood and even if it was the truth that she always failed to accept, she knew that he;s not killing innocent people. He always killed everyone who deserved to be killed. He loved her and he loved his son dearly. He never let her feel any mistake as he always took care of her. How can she live without him? How can she live without his caring and his love in her life? It’s so hard and it’s so cruel of the moon goddess to snatch his life like that.

“Was… was there no way… for him to live?” In the middle of all her thoughts, she looked at Alec and asked. Alec’s body stiffened with her question. He stared at her for a while and looked away without uttering a word. His expression made Elvira’s heart ache and started to pound against her chest. She scanned Alec’s facial expressions carefully and suddenly grabbed him from his arm. Alec looked at Elvira with shock before pulling his hand away from her grip.

“There was a way right! YOU TELL ME!!” she shouted at him. Alec felt dangerously helpless hearing her. Lain had asked him not to tell Elvira that she could have saved him and let him live longer. What the hell should he do? Saying this to her will make things even worse. Taking a deep breath, he shook his head. Since Lain asked him not to let her know the truth, he wouldn’t let her know about it. As he shook his head, Elvira’s eyes turned dangerously cold. She glared at him murderously.

“Don’t lie! ANSWER ME ALEC. HOW DARE YOU LIE TO YOUR LUNA?” Her shout gave shudders to the female warriors who were guarding the hospital room. Her voice was filled with anger and curiosity. Alec stared at Elvira and clenched his jaws. How can she even tell that he was lying? Maybe he fucked up evening with his expresxsions! He thought. Taking a deep breath, he closed his eyes. He had no other way but to tell her the truth, if not she will come after him every time. He apologized to Lain in his heart for not being able to keep his words.

“There was a way but he didn’t want to do it..” He muttered. Elvira’s eyebrows twtiched, she stared at Alec as if she was about to murder someone. Her heart was pounding against her chest and she felt the burning heart pain and fear. She felt afraid to know about that way. But all she wanted to know was the truth. She wanted to know why he didn’t want it. Everything should have a reason.

“What is it?” She questioned him.

“Having your blood. If he sucked your blood, he could have lived a long life. Since you are the wolf who can separate the wolf from your body, your blood was a special cure to the Blood Alpha. Having your blood would give him strength and a long life. But he didn’t want it… ever since he got to know that you were scared of him because you saw him sucking blood on people when you were a kid, he didn’t want it. And then you got scared again seeing him. He was not ready to scare you or suck your blood because that will make you become weak. Once he started to have your blood he will be addicted to it and he won’t be able to stop which will definitely harm your body”
