Chapter 65
“So you should be like daddy in the future and make him proud once he sees you in the future okay?” Elvira kissed Lael’s forehead and muttered. He stared at Elvira for a while and moved his little emerald eyes into the room. He looked at Lain who was sleeping on the bed. He had his eyes on Line for so long before he turned to Elvira again. In the next second, he nodded his head making Elvira's heart go numb from pain. Looking at him, Elvira’s eyes slowly fell on Lael’s right hand to see that he was clutching something.
“Mommy… see?” Suddenly he moved his hand towards Elvira and opened it. There was a wrist band and a little piece of paper. Elvira looked at the wrist band which belonged to Lain and she felt her head was spinning. She forcefully forced her eyes not to let out tears. She cannot cry in front of her son because if she cries here now, he would also cry. Elvira finally managed to let out a small smile, then she slowly took the wrist band and stared at it. Her mind recalled Lain’s strong wrist when he was wearing it. He was wearing it in the first days she came here. After that, he removed it and never wore it. So he had left this to his son? Does he think that a little wrist band could cover his presence?
Waiting for a while, she looked at the piece of paper in Lael’s hand. She took the paper and looked at it. As she opened it, she could see Lain’s hand writing. Elvira didn’t dare to read what was written on the paper immediately. She took a few breaths and calmed herself down before moving her eyes back to it. As she traveled her eyes through the paper her heart was pierced by the sentence on it. She clutched the paper and placed it against her chest while holding all the pain in her. She felt the suffocation but she didn’t let her body get weak because she should be strong at this point.
‘Grow up faster and take care of your mommy and your sister.. I’ll be watching you. I love you forever!’ biting her lips, Elvira turned her head and looked at Lain who was getting pale in every single second. She wanted to cry so loud but she couldn’t do it with Lael here. She didn’t want to let him know that his father was dead and not coming back. Instead of urging his little feelings by telling that his father was not coming back, she lied to him saying that Lain will be back once he grew up. And when Lael grew up, he would definitely know the meaning of her words.
“It’s a.. sister, mommy?” Suddenly Lael placed his little hands against Elvira’s belly and questioned her with a surprised look on his face. So he read the paper? Elvira smiled at Lael and caressed his hair. She had no idea… she had no idea if her baby was a girl or a boy but since Lain was saying it was a girl, she would gladly accept it. Elvira’s eyes were covered with tears from time to time but she somehow managed to get the tears back without letting them fall down. While she was caressing Lael’s hair, suddenly a loud and painful grunt spread everywhere making everyone shudder. Little boy hugged Elvira immediately with fear. Not knowing what that was, Elvira moved her eyes to Alec.
“It’s Ezki… I think he had felt his master’s death” Ezki? Lain’s dragon… Elvira’s heart crumpled from the pain. Her mind started to show images of Lain when he took her into that cave and showed the dragon to her. He had a beautiful smile on his face all the time. How can people call him ruthless and heartless when he was really good at saving innocent lives? She needed to go and check on Ezki. After she went to see him three months ago, she still hasn't gone to see him. She found it was so hard for her to go because of her pregnancy and without Lain, she wouldn’t be able to.
“Alec…. What should we do now?” Elvira's voice was terribly broken when she asked that question from Alec. he stared at Elvira for a while and looked at Lain. his heart was stabbed brutally seeing his best friend who was lying on the bed lifelessly. It was his birthday but he had to leave everything on that day. Alec lowered his head and thought about it for a while. He had no plan in his mind and Lain never gave him a plan before dying. All he said was take care of everything but Alec didn’t know how to take care of everything.
“I think… you should give birth before doing anything.. Once you give birth to the baby, I will take you to a place where you can live peacefully. If you stay here, I have no idea what will happen” Alec uttered honestly. Elvira’s heart broke. Leave here? How can she leave here when she has all the memories about him here? It was so painful.. It was so painful for her to think about leaving here. Looking at Lael, Elvira bit her lower lip and moved her eyes to Aunt Maria.
“Aunt Maria, can… can you please wash him for… me?” Elvira asked. Maria wiped her tears and nodded at Elvira. Stepping towards Lael, she picked him up and walked out of the room. While she was leaving, Lael looked at his father who was lying on the bed without waking up. His little heart ached and he was confused why his daddy was not waking up even if he came into the room. Elvira saw the emotions in Lael’s eyes and she felt so bitter. After Maria took him away, Elvira walked towards the bed and she released all the tears she was holding back. Tears streamed down through her eyes and she shook her head. She still could not believe that he was gone…
“Why? Why did you do this to me? Why?.... You are so bad… Lain… you left me like this!” Elvira cried looking at him. She couldn’t manage to hold the pain in her heart. How can she even accept the fact that he will not be with her again like he used to be? He will not be there to hug her, carry her and help her with everything. He will not be there to kiss her and comfort her. He just… he’s not going to be there for her when she’s giving birth to this baby.. Elvira again broke into tears and hugged Lain’s body as she bruised her face against his chest.
She cannot let go of him and she was not ready to let him go. It was so painful and it was so annoying to think that he would not be there for her. The shirt Lain was wearing soaked with her tears but yet she knew that he was not waking up ever again to hug her back and ask her not to cry. After crying for so long, she finally moved away from his body. Taking a few steps back, she stared at his deadly pale handsome face. Her heart was thumping inside of her chest with countless painful thoughts and feelings. Every time her heart beated, she felt nothing but agony and pain. What was she supposed to feel apart from pain and sadness? He was dead… she had no mind to think about anything else.
“Why did you take me with you and push me into this pain if you knew that you were going to leave everything on your thirty birthday? You… you are the most selfish man.. I’ve ever seen!” Elvira muttered with tears. She had no words to describe her pain. She wanted to kill herself on the spot but she had no ability to do that. She didn’t want to push two children's lives into hell by doing something like. Wiping the tears in her eyes with her palms, she still stared at Lain who was so calm and clutched her dress helplessly. What should she do now? Without him, she cannot even think about a life.
While she was silently watching him, her eyes suddenly caught the glimpses of the paper on the bedside table. On the paper there was a pen. Elvira’s heart tightened. Since he left something for Lael, he would not forget her. Stepping towards the bedside table with uncontrollable tears falling down from her eyes. She took the paper and looked at it. Her eyes traveled through the paper on Lain’s handwriting and her vision blurred. She couldn’t even read what he had written because her vision was blurred and her heart was aching. Pain rose even harder inside of her chest and she stopped reading it. Without reading what he had written for her completely, she put the letter into the drawer of the bedside table.
Elvira looked at Lain and cried. She can’t… she can’t endure this pain and it was so hurtful. How can she live now? How can she even think about raising two children all alone without him? Lowering her head, she looked at the ring in her hands. He gave her rings, he gave her a necklace and he gave her earrings.. Now she understood everging. She understood why he took her everywhere she liked to go and she realized why he always spent time with her and Lael without going anywhere. He did everything because he was going to leave them soon right?
“How? How am…. I gonna… live without you? I… can’t… I’m totally depending on you… Lain… please come back” she knelt on the floor beside the bed and started to cry. Alec stood there silently and watched her pain helplessly. Watching the way Elvira cried her heart out while holding Lain’s ice cold hands, Alec clenched his jaws and looked away from her. The pain Elvira was feeling right now was way too less because Lain didn’t mark her. If he had marked her, she would not be able to stay like this. She would have both physical and mental pain.
Knowing what will be the result of his death, Lain didn’t mark her. He didn't do so many things that he should have done to her because it will cause Elvira nothing but pain once he leaves. Elvira’s sobbing sound increased along with her breathings. Alec’s mind went numb seeing Elvira who was breathing heavily as if she was suffocating. She held Lain’s hands tightly with her trembling hands and parted her lips trying to breathe but the dangerous suffocation was inside of her heart and it was pressing her while making her unable to breath. Feeling that she was not in a good state, Alec strode towards her and held her.
“FUCK!!! ROGER…. GET OVER HERE!” Alec roared holding Elvira and he simply picked her up as he ran out of the room. She was suffocating, it was as if she was going to lose her breaths anytime soon. When he left the room, he saw two warriors who were coming towards him with horror filled eyes. Handing over Elvira to one man that he trusted the most, Alec parted his lips to speak. His heart was hammering inside of his chest ith fear. He already lost his best friend and he was not ready to lose the person that his best friend loved the most.
“Take her… take her to the hospital.. Ask three females to guard her room. Hurry up!!!” He said impatiently. With his order, both warriors nodded at him and ran, taking Elvira. They both looked horrified because their Luna was pregnant with another child dn they didn’t want anything to happen to her. As they took Elvira away, Alec stood there and watched her before turning and walking into the room. His eyes were covered with tears as he stepped into the room and looked at Lain.
“I fucking told you…. I fucking told you to tell her the truth Lain… if anything happens to her right now, it will always be your fault… since she loved you this much, if you ever asked her to give her blood to you, she would never say no to you! You chose death over asking for her help. Now you left everyone in sadness” Looking at Lain’s pale face, Alec muttered. Watching his face for a while, Alec let out a deep and sorrowful look. Then he walked towards the bed and slowly held Lain.
Alec mind linked a few warriors into the room for help. Once they came into the room, all of them held Lain and took him into the room where he used to keep blood. Placing him inside of the ice cold room, Alec took off Lain’s shirt to see all his body had filled with black patterns. His body was already showing his death but he still had everything from everyone. Looking at the way his veins had turned pitch black, Alec couldn’t help but feel that his heart was in wrenching pain.
