Chapter 67 Hobby, Inviting Mr. Hamilton to Dinner
Olivia's eyes lit up. Relying on Michael was off the table. She had to count on Andrew. "Mr. Hamilton, I really need you to look out for Bianca! When we get back to Emerald City, dinner's on me!"
Andrew paused, his voice softening. "Sure thing."
With his agreement, Olivia hung up, feeling relieved.
David handed back her phone, unable to resist a comment. "Does Dr. Garcia have a thing for dinner invites?"
He had overheard her conversation earlier. Dinner was a recurring theme.
Andrew stood up, a hint of a smile in his eyes. Yep, she sure loved inviting folks to dinner! It just felt right to share a meal.
Over the next few days, Olivia visited the Scott Villa to treat Layla. Meanwhile, at the Johnson Mansion, Amelia had fallen ill.
Since that disastrous party, high society had been buzzing with rumors about the Johnson family's decline, damaging her reputation. The gossip infuriated her, triggering relentless coughing fits.
Sophia arrived with a bunch of supplements, her face etched with concern as she patted Amelia's back. "Mrs. Johnson, you've got to look after yourself. Ignore those rumors. You're the hostess of the Johnson family. This chatter will die down soon enough... In the future, folks will still respect you, right? Getting worked up over it isn't worth it!"
Amelia seethed with anger. "They're infuriating! But what really gets me is Olivia, that little brat. If it weren't for her, our reputation wouldn't have tanked! She's deliberately causing trouble in our home! I opposed Michael's grandma's decision for Michael to marry her from the start. We should never have let her into this family!"
Sophia, also resentful towards Olivia, murmured, "Olivia... she's different now, got quite a few men backing her."
Amelia's rage intensified, making her cough violently.
Chase walked in just in time to witness the scene, scoffing, "We should kick her out of the Johnson family! She doesn't give a damn about us anymore. She wrecked the party and unleashed her dog on people. She's completely out of control!"
He turned to Sophia with concern, "How's Aiden doing now?"
"He still needs more vaccines, and the marks on his face haven't faded. We don't know if they'll leave scars..."
Sophia looked like she was about to cry. "He's so young. If he gets scars, what will we do?"
Chase couldn't stand seeing her so upset, his anger flaring up. Olivia deserved a serious lesson!
After finishing her work, Olivia went to pick up Bianca from school.
Bianca had become more talkative lately, sharing stories about school and her interactions with other kids.
Though still not very chatty, it was a big improvement compared to before. Olivia was happy with her progress.
When they got home, Bianca immediately went to play with Lightning.
Olivia didn't stop her. Lightning had played a role in Bianca's improvement. Bianca and Lightning quickly started playing.
Olivia sat nearby, reading a medical book.
In the kitchen, Faye was busy preparing dinner...
Suddenly, the lights in the living room went out.
At the same time, Faye's startled voice echoed. "What happened to the power?"
"It seems the water's out too..."
Olivia was puzzled. This villa never had these issues. Even maintenance work was always pre-announced by the property management.
As she pondered, the emergency power kicked in. Finn and Faye hurried over.
"Mrs. Johnson, Ms. Johnson, the power outage was unexpected. Are you alright?"
Olivia shook her head. Bianca and Lightning had been playing right beside her, so they were fine.
She instructed, "Check with the property management, find out what's going on."
Finn nodded quickly. "Will do."
He reached for his phone, but before he could make the call, Chase stormed in. "No need to call!"
Chase swaggered in, dripping with sarcasm. "Olivia, weren't you all tough, announcing your divorce in front of everyone? Since you're leaving, how do you still have the nerve to stay here? Get out already!"
Olivia narrowed her eyes, catching on immediately. "You cut off the water and electricity in the house?"
"So what if I did? You ruined the party and announced your divorce from my brother in front of everyone. You should have the decency to leave! Staying here, eating and living off us, what's that about?" Chase ranted self-righteously.
Olivia had no patience for this nonsense. She sneered, "Chase, did you buy all your degrees? Need me to give you a lesson on marriage law? Sure, I proposed divorce, but until we have the divorce papers, my marriage with Michael is still legally valid. Which means I still have the right to live here, and Bianca still has the Johnson family inheritance rights. So, who are you to kick us out?"
Chase's face darkened at her defiance. "You have no shame? Flirting with multiple men outside, yet shamelessly living in my brother's house? Your lover Daniel isn't rich enough to provide you with a place to stay?"
His hostility was so intense that Lightning sensed it, barking several times in warning, ready to pounce.
Bianca, sensing Chase's ill intent, clung nervously to Olivia's dress.
Olivia patted Bianca's head, soothing her, then looked coldly at Chase.
"Don't you find your words ridiculous? It was your brother and Sophia who started flirting first, and you saw it too. Yet here you are, twisting the facts... trying to defend Sophia?" Her tone was full of scorn. "Chase, your love for Sophia is quite eye-opening! But Sophia only has eyes for your brother. Has she ever looked at you twice? You're like a lapdog, busy standing up for her!"
Her words hit Chase where it hurt most. Chase's eyes turned red, like a mad dog about to lose it. "Olivia, who are you calling a lapdog? You're asking for it!"
He slammed his hand on the table, sending items flying toward Olivia and Bianca.
Olivia hadn't expected him to go berserk, quickly grabbing Bianca and dodging.
Finn and Faye were terrified, rushing to intervene. "Mr. Chase Johnson, please calm down!"
Chase couldn't calm down. If he couldn't drive Olivia out today, she wouldn't have peace living here!
He started smashing everything in the living room. Bianca was scared, trembling in Olivia's arms.
"Mommy... I'm scared..." Bianca's eyes were teary, her voice shaking.
Olivia held her tightly, equally furious.
She pulled out her phone and called the police. Minutes later, officers arrived, trying to take Chase away. Chase yelled, "Touch me and see what happens! Do you know who I am?"
An officer frowned. "You illegally entered someone's home and caused damage. That's against the law!"
Chase cursed, "This is my brother's house, also my home. So what if I smash things? You have no right to interfere!"
Finn and Faye, sensing trouble, had already notified Michael.
When Michael walked in, seeing the mess and Chase's crazed yelling, he slapped Chase hard. "Enough of this! Get out!"
Michael reprimanded coldly, his eyes sharp.
"Michael ?" Chase held his cheek, stunned. He was doing this for Michael and Sophia, but why was he getting slapped?
"Out!" Michael commanded, leaving no room for argument.
Robert, with impeccable timing, quickly dragged Chase away, escorting the officers out, handling the aftermath.
Once the living room was quiet again, Michael looked at Olivia with displeasure, his voice cold. "Do you have to blow everything up to be satisfied?"
Olivia's face was icy. How could she not see through Michael's actions?
He seemed to be reprimanding Chase, but it was actually to protect him.
He treated everyone gently, except for her and Bianca, cold and ruthless!
Olivia's eyes reddened with frustration. This place really wasn't worth staying in. But before leaving, she had to do one more thing...
That evening, as Michael worked in his study, Olivia walked in and threw down a divorce agreement. "Michael, to save us both time, sign this. I don't want your money. I'll leave with nothing. Let's get this divorce done!"
