Chapter 66 Wait for Me to Return to See You
"Dr. Garcia?"
There was a curious voice on the other end, breaking the silence that had stretched too long.
Olivia quickly replied, "I'm here... I just didn't expect you to answer, Mr. Hamilton. I'm a bit surprised."
Andrew's voice was calm, "I happened to be next to David and figured you might be looking for me, so I picked up."
Olivia hurriedly responded, "Yeah, I wanted to thank you. Yesterday was Bianca's birthday, and you had Mr. White deliver Lightning. She loved it and was really happy."
"I thought she might like it. Lightning can help guide her out of her self-imposed isolation. The effect might be subtle, but over time, it could be quite significant." Andrew's warm, deep voice carried a soothing power.
Olivia was deeply grateful, "Mr. Hamilton, I owe you one. When you get back to Emerald City, let me treat you to dinner."
Andrew didn't agree or refuse, simply saying, "If there's an opportunity, sure! But it might not be soon; I'm currently abroad."
Olivia didn't feel disappointed, "That's no problem. Anytime works for me, I'll fit it into your schedule."
Andrew's voice seemed to carry a hint of a smile, "Alright."
Then he changed the subject, "Dr. Garcia, the reason I took this call today is that I need a favor. Are you available?"
Olivia didn't hesitate, "Of course!"
Andrew was amused, "I haven't even told you what it is."
Olivia was a bit embarrassed but very sincere, "Mr. Hamilton, you've been treating Bianca. I've been looking for a chance to thank you. It's rare that you need a favor from me, so I'll make it work no matter what!"
Andrew chuckled, not beating around the bush, "Since that's the case, I won't be polite. I have a patient, a nineteen-year-old girl, who often has strange fevers. According to her family, it started when she began dating. She's usually fine, but whenever she has contact with her boyfriend, she gets these symptoms.
Her family, worried about her health, forcibly ended the relationship, which affected her emotionally. They came to me for psychological counseling.
But after my assessment, it's not a psychological issue but more likely a physical one.
Her family has consulted many doctors, but no diagnosis has been made.
I thought maybe you could help!"
His tone wasn't questioning but confident, clearly trusting Olivia's medical skills.
Olivia didn't doubt his diagnosis either.
In psychology, Andrew was an authority. If he said there was no issue, then there was no issue.
As for the girl's symptoms... this was the first time Olivia had encountered such a case.
However, there were many strange diseases in the world, and this might just be one of them.
With a clear idea in mind, Olivia quickly replied, "Mr. Hamilton, don't worry. If it's truly a physical issue, I'll find a way to cure her."
Her tone was serious.
Andrew heard it and smiled, "If it turns out to be very difficult, Dr. Garcia, don't push yourself too hard. Just do your best."
He didn't want her to feel too much pressure.
Olivia felt his kindness and was warmed by it, genuinely thinking Andrew was very gentle.
She smiled and responded, "Alright!"
After that, they didn't talk much more. Andrew quickly instructed David to send an address.
Olivia didn't delay and drove straight there.
An hour later, she arrived at the destination.
In front of her was a luxurious mansion, occupying a vast area, clearly indicating the owner's wealth.
After ringing the doorbell and explaining her purpose, the hostess of the house, Stella Hall, warmly welcomed Olivia inside.
After some brief pleasantries, Stella said seriously, "Andrew... I mean, Mr. Hamilton has already told me about your skills, Dr. Garcia. My daughter is in your hands!"
Olivia nodded slightly, "I'll do my best."
Stella quickly instructed the butler to bring Layla Scott.
Layla appeared quickly!
Olivia observed her—a lively girl with a slightly youthful appearance but already quite pretty.
As soon as she arrived, she looked at Olivia with bright eyes and said, "We have a guest? You're so beautiful, ma'am!"
Stella gently scolded, "Mind your manners. This is Dr. Garcia, here to treat you. Be cooperative."
Layla was obedient and showed no resistance.
Seeing her cooperation, Olivia didn't delay and continued to gather more detailed information.
Stella didn't hide anything, "At first, we thought it was physical contact with her boyfriend that caused the symptoms... but later, we found that even looking at a photo could trigger it."
Olivia, being cautious, asked, "Have you tested this repeatedly?"
Stella nodded, "Yes, several times."
Olivia hesitated, "To better treat her, we might need to test it again so I can observe her physical changes."
Stella hesitated but soon signaled Layla to comply.
Layla quickly found a photo of her boyfriend and looked at it for a while.
About 15 minutes later, Layla indeed started to have a fever, her cheeks turning unnaturally red, and even her breathing became rapid.
Olivia was very surprised.
Normally, when people in love have physical contact, the pituitary gland secretes various hormones.
Including oxytocin, dopamine, and gonadotropin... Typically, these cause sexual arousal, pleasure, and desire.
However, Layla, without any physical contact, just by looking at a photo, exhibited these symptoms.
Worse, as Layla's breathing intensified, she began to have difficulty breathing, and her consciousness started to fade.
Olivia was startled and quickly performed first aid on Layla, alleviating the situation.
Layla soon regained consciousness.
Stella was worried, "Dr. Garcia, can Layla's condition be cured?"
Olivia didn't answer immediately, frowning in thought.
From the initial assessment, it seemed to be a problem with the pituitary gland's secretion, causing an immune response that led to fever and other symptoms.
She couldn't guarantee a cure!
"I can't promise anything yet. I need time to determine a treatment plan. But rest assured, since I've taken this on, I'll do my best to cure Layla. For now, I've stabilized her condition. Don't let her look at any more photos."
Stella was a bit disappointed but not dissatisfied.
Being cautious in medical treatment was not wrong!
Later, Olivia left and went home, immediately researching the case.
By evening, she had determined a treatment plan.
She returned to the Scott Villa.
Stella was very surprised, "You've already come up with a treatment plan?"
Olivia nodded, "It's worth a try!"
Though skeptical, Stella had Layla cooperate.
This time, Olivia had Layla take a hot bath.
Once Layla's body was warmed up, Olivia began the treatment.
When the medical equipment was ready, Olivia had Stella give Layla the photo.
Though doubtful and worried, Stella complied and handed over the photo.
An hour passed, and Layla showed no signs of fever. In fact, she seemed in great spirits.
Stella was stunned, "Is she cured?"
Olivia smiled and shook her head, "Not yet, just suppressed. To fully cure her, it will take a month of continuous treatment."
Stella was overjoyed, "She'll be cured in a month?"
"Yes, but during this time, she needs to take medication."
Olivia then wrote a prescription, "Make sure she takes the medication as prescribed."
Stella took the prescription gratefully, "Don't worry, I'll personally ensure Layla takes it correctly!"
Layla was very happy, praising, "Dr. Garcia, you're amazing! I've seen so many doctors, and none could help. Each time, I'd have a fever for days. I thought I'd be like this forever... but you controlled it right away. You're incredible!"
Though Olivia had only briefly interacted with Layla, she could tell Layla felt somewhat ashamed of her condition.
She gently patted Layla's head, comforting her, "This illness is just a problem with your endocrine system. It's nothing to be embarrassed about. Don't worry, you'll be fine."
Layla found her very kind and liked her even more.
Stella was also extremely grateful and warmly invited Olivia to stay for dinner.
However, Olivia declined, as Bianca was waiting at home.
On her way back, she called David.
This time, Andrew didn't answer.
But Olivia requested, "Could you have Mr. Hamilton take the call?"
David checked and, a few seconds later, Andrew's distinctive calm voice came through, "Dr. Garcia?"
Ignoring the tingling in her ears, Olivia quickly explained Layla's situation, "Your assessment was correct. It was indeed a physical issue, and I've managed to suppress it."
Andrew was genuinely surprised.
Although he had confidence in Olivia's medical skills, he hadn't expected such a quick resolution!
"Dr. Garcia, your skills are truly remarkable!" Andrew's praise was sincere.
Olivia felt a bit embarrassed, "You're too kind. It's not completely cured yet; it will take a month. But I can guarantee her recovery."
Andrew responded, "I believe in you, Dr. Garcia."
His tone was still calm, but it carried an undeniable assurance.
Andrew's words had a certain magic!
Taking advantage of the moment, Olivia asked, "Mr. Hamilton, is there a faster way to help Bianca recover? Your previous interventions have made a significant difference. Sometimes, it's hard to tell she's an autistic child... are there other treatment options?"
Andrew pondered for a few seconds before responding, "Achieving a quick recovery is challenging. Bianca's condition, based on several interactions, seems to stem from a lack of love, especially paternal love...
Her existence hasn't been affirmed for a long time, which has suppressed her natural instincts. Despite her young age, she has the basic ability to perceive emotions."
Hearing this, Olivia felt a sharp pain in her heart.
In fact, she had suspected this for a while.
But hearing Andrew confirm it, her repressed anger nearly exploded.
Michael had been stingy with his attention towards Bianca, preferring to shower all his care on Sophia's son.
Sensing Olivia's distress, Andrew added, "While it would be best for the person involved to address this, if that's not possible, there are other ways to treat Bianca...
But it will have to wait until I return to Emerald City!"
