Chapter 50 Infuriating the Wicked Mother-in-Law
Andrew paused for a few seconds, clearly upset. "It's nothing, just thought that little girl was kinda special. But you, has anyone ever told you you're wasting your talent as a teacher? You should be an entertainment reporter."
"Nope, can't say I've heard that one before!" Benjamin replied honestly, ready to dig deeper.
But Andrew cut him off, adding sincerely, "Well, it's not too late for a career change."
With that, he hung up before Benjamin could respond.
Unwilling to give up, Benjamin immediately called back.
All he got was a busy signal.
Great, blocked again...
Only Andrew would turn his back on someone right after they did him a favor!
After school, Olivia took Bianca straight home.
Though Bianca had been approved for enrollment, Olivia worried she wasn't mentally prepared.
So, after lunch, she decided to have a heart-to-heart with her.
"Sweetie, did you like the place we visited today? If you go there, you can make lots of new friends! That way, your friends won't just be flowers, puppies, and little plants. It'll be much more exciting..."
Bianca tilted her head thoughtfully at the question.
After a little while, she said in her sweet, childlike voice, "I liked it. I want to go to school and make lots of friends, and I liked the teacher who gave me flowers too."
Olivia was overjoyed. "Really? Then how about we start school tomorrow, okay?"
Bianca nodded her little head. "Okay."
Olivia was thrilled, immediately hugging Bianca and praising her, "My brave Bianca, I'm so proud of you!"
Bianca blinked her eyes and snuggled up to Olivia obediently.
While Olivia and Bianca were having their tender moment, the doorbell suddenly rang.
Yara heard it and promptly went to answer the door.
Soon, Olivia heard a respectful greeting, "Mrs. Amelia Johnson, what brings you here?"
Amelia, carrying an expensive designer bag, walked in gracefully and asked, "Is Olivia home?"
Yara replied, "Yes, Mrs. Olivia Johnson is in the living room with Ms. Johnson!"
Hearing Amelia's sharp tone, Olivia knew trouble was brewing!
Out of respect for her elder, she reluctantly stood up but didn't approach as deferentially as she used to.
Because there was no need!
Amelia arrived quickly.
As soon as she saw Olivia, she let out a disdainful snort and immediately scolded, "You still know how to stay home and take care of your child? I thought you forgot you had a family to look after!"
Olivia was baffled by her words.
She responded coolly, "I've been taking care of this family from the beginning! Where is this coming from?"
Amelia's expression was displeased. "How dare you ask? Michael asked you to quit your job to take care of the child, but instead of treating Bianca's illness properly, you went to another man's company to compete with Michael for business!
The Johnson family has provided for you, not for you to do such things! Olivia, do you even remember who you are? Michael's grandma just passed away not long ago, and this is how you repay her kindness?"
Upon hearing this, Olivia finally understood Amelia's purpose for coming over.
Amelia must have heard about the incident at the party and came to reprimand her.
As for who told her... no need to guess, it was Chase.
Chase's behavior was nothing new.
In the past, whenever Amelia gave her trouble or scolded her, Chase was always involved!
In the past, Olivia would have endured it, letting Amelia say whatever she wanted without daring to show disrespect.
But now...
Olivia let out a derisive laugh and spoke bluntly, "Do you not know who I am? If you've forgotten, let me remind you... On the day of Grandma's funeral, how did you and the entire Johnson family treat Bianca and me?
Before she died, Grandma asked you to take good care of us, but how did you all act? Now you turn around and question me. Don't you think that's ridiculous?"
Amelia didn't expect Olivia to talk back.
And bringing up the funeral caught her off guard, her expression changing.
Her tone became even harsher, "Olivia, how dare you speak to me like that? Do you still want to be with Michael?"
"I don't!" Olivia's tone was icy, making her stance clear. "I will divorce Michael! Anyway, you all have been eager to get rid of me, haven't you? His heart belongs to Sophia, and you all know it, don't you?"
The last part was laced with sarcasm.
Amelia's eyes flickered, showing a hint of something.
But she didn't respond to that, instead continuing her stern scolding, "Do you think I'll believe that? I know your feelings for Michael! You wouldn't dare divorce him. I'm warning you, Olivia, you'd better behave, and show some respect to Sophia when you see her!
Now that the Brown family and the Johnson family are in a strategic partnership, her position in the Johnson Group is crucial! She's more capable than you and can help Michael more. You'd better not interfere!
So, hand over the project you're working on to her. It's not something you should be involved in!"
Olivia laughed, "Why shouldn't I be involved in a project I secured? If Sophia is as capable as you say, why didn't she secure the project herself? Instead, she has to take it from me through your words? Your contradictory statements are laughable...
You look down on me, yet you can't let go of the project I secured. Your actions contradict your words. You're really despicable!"
"Who are you calling despicable? Olivia, how dare you!" Amelia never imagined Olivia would insult her like this, nearly losing her breath in anger, clutching her chest, and coughing repeatedly.
In her disbelief, she wondered, 'Is this still the same weak and useless Olivia? She's become so bold!'
"You... you really don't want to be with Michael anymore? Do you believe I'll really make him divorce you?" Amelia threatened loudly in her rage.
Olivia was unfazed, even replying, "I would be grateful if you could convince him to divorce me."
Amelia looked utterly shocked.
Was Olivia crazy?
She actually agreed?
Everyone knew how much Olivia loved Michael.
And now she was saying she hoped for a divorce?
Amelia couldn't believe it, thinking Olivia was up to something.
After a moment, she scrutinized Olivia and then realized something, "Olivia, are you doing this on purpose? Trying to provoke me to push Michael to divorce you, so you can demand benefits and divide the assets? You're really scheming!"
Olivia thought of the divorce agreement.
Michael had been stalling, likely due to the compensation terms.
Previously, she considered doing it for Bianca.
But now, with her career back on track and having an income, maybe it wasn't necessary anymore.
She didn't want to waste any more energy dealing with them endlessly.
With that in mind, Olivia said calmly, "If you can convince him to divorce me quickly, I'll leave without taking anything, as long as I get custody of Bianca!"
