Chapter 51 A Misunderstanding is Not a Big Deal
There wasn't a trace of humor in her expression!
Amelia couldn't believe her ears.
Did Olivia really just say she would leave with nothing? Was this really Olivia?
No way, she couldn't buy it.
Back then, Olivia had wormed her way into Michael's bed under the guise of treatment, all for money, hadn't she?
And now she was acting all high and mighty?
Besides, with the Johnson family's wealth and influence, who could resist that temptation?
Even if they divorced, just a fraction of Michael's money would keep her comfortable for life.
Amelia sneered, "Olivia, cut the act. Do you think I don't know who you really are? Leave with nothing? If you can actually do that, I might have a shred of respect for you. But I doubt you have the guts. You're just playing games! If you think you can fool me, think again!"
With that, Amelia grabbed her bag and stormed out.
Olivia felt a wave of boredom and exhaustion.
Telling the truth, and no one believed it!
She had hoped Amelia might be reasonable, but clearly, she wasn't.
It looked like Olivia would have to handle this herself.
She started thinking about other ways to get divorced.
She could leave without a penny, but Bianca, she had to take with her no matter what!
By evening, she had almost figured out a plan.
When Michael got home from work, Olivia was having dinner with Bianca.
Since that nasty night, Michael and Olivia hadn't spoken.
Naturally, Olivia had no intention of starting a conversation now.
Unexpectedly, Michael pulled out a chair across from her and sat down, then asked, "Did you insult my mom today?"
Olivia looked up, momentarily stunned.
Michael's brow was furrowed, his handsome face cold and full of accusation.
Olivia laughed mockingly, "Which part are you referring to? The part where she came over to scold me for taking the Johnson family business, told me to behave, and demanded I hand over the project to Sophia? And I just called her despicable? Yeah, I did say that!"
Michael's face darkened, his voice icy, "You admit it? She's your elder, and you insult her like that?"
Olivia's eyes were cold, internally amused by what he chose to focus on.
Why had she been so blind before?
She suddenly lost all appetite and didn't bother to explain, leaving just one sentence, "Insult? Mr. Johnson, you're exaggerating. I was just stating the truth! Compared to the insults from your Johnson family..."
Since Emily's death, they had all trampled on her.
Had he ever said anything about it?
Now, she spoke one truth, and he felt ashamed!
The double standard was too obvious!
Olivia couldn't be bothered to argue with him. She quickly put down her utensils and took Bianca upstairs.
Michael sat at the dining table, his face dark and stormy.
The next morning, Olivia was having breakfast with Bianca when she ran into Michael, who was heading out.
Michael was dressed more formally than usual, in a custom black suit with a tie, exuding a strong and noble presence, as if he were going to an important event.
Yara, their housekeeper, handed him his bag and asked, "Mr. Johnson, won't you have breakfast before you go?"
Michael responded indifferently, "No need, I'll eat out."
As he spoke, his gaze briefly landed on Olivia and Bianca coming downstairs, then he looked away and left.
Olivia didn't give it a second thought and continued eating breakfast with Bianca.
Afterward, she grabbed the documents she had prepared the night before and headed to the school to handle Bianca's enrollment.
Benjamin was there to assist them throughout the process.
Once everything was sorted, she took Bianca around the school to help her get familiar with the environment and feel more comfortable.
Meanwhile, at another prestigious preschool, Michael was there with Sophia and her son, Aiden, handling his enrollment.
The teacher in charge was extremely respectful, "Mr. Johnson, Mrs. Johnson, rest assured, we will take good care of Aiden. If there are any issues, we will communicate with you promptly to ensure he is comfortable here."
Sophia's cheeks flushed slightly at the teacher's address, but she didn't correct it.
Michael didn't correct it either, and responded politely, "Thank you, please take good care of him."
"Of course." The teacher responded with a smile, not forgetting to praise, "Aiden seems like such a well-behaved child. I'm sure he'll get along well with the other kids!"
Michael nodded, gently ruffling Aiden's hair.
A simple gesture that showed his affection for Aiden.
Aiden smiled sweetly.
Seeing this, the teacher was even more attentive, personally escorting them out after the paperwork was done.
Once in the car, Aiden immediately said to Michael, "I'm so happy today because Uncle Michael came with me to enroll, just like a dad. The other kids couldn't stop looking. They must think my dad is really cool! I wish this were real!"
Sophia feigned annoyance, "Don't say such things, Aiden!"
Then she turned to Michael, her voice soft, "Michael, Aiden is just a child, don't take it to heart. Thank you for coming with us today."
Michael didn't mind, "It's fine! I came today to make sure no one looks down on Aiden. Let them misunderstand if they want."
Sophia's eyes filled with gratitude, "Michael, you're so kind! Since we returned, you've been helping us so much, but I messed up the company project. I feel so guilty."
Michael shook his head, reassuring her, "Don't worry about it. It's not your fault. I know you tried your best. Since we didn't get the project, let's focus on new opportunities. Pharmaceuticals are the future. The lab is already being set up, and there's a lot to do."
"Okay." Sophia nodded solemnly, "I'll start recruiting research talent. Once the lab is ready, we can push forward immediately."
"Thank you." Michael checked his watch, "I'll take you home first. I have a client meeting later."
"Sure." Sophia agreed without hesitation.
Olivia knew nothing of this.
After familiarizing themselves with the school in the morning, she took Bianca to buy school supplies.
When they got home, they were met with a pleasant surprise.
A refined middle-aged couple, carrying bags of gifts, stood at the door waiting for her.
Olivia's eyes lit up, and she called out, "Dad, Mom, what are you doing here?"
The couple turned at the sound of her voice, their faces breaking into warm smiles, "We came to see you and Bianca. Where have you been? Why are you back so late?"
With that, Olivia's mother, Victoria Gonzalez, stepped forward to greet her.
Seeing her parents, Olivia was overjoyed but also felt a pang of sadness.
Having faced so much coldness from the Johnson family, her parents' gentle gaze felt like the warm sun melting away the chill.
She almost couldn't speak.
