80- Imminent conflict
Sebastian
I left Rebecca and went to get ready for the men who were coming for us. It's almost night and I'm sure they're up to something and I'm not going to let them near Rebecca.
Ward hurriedly approaches.
\- As you instructed, everything is ready, the documents have been delivered and the police are preparing. Our connection with that family has been completely severed and there won't be any problems for us, besides, we're helping a lot of people get a promotion with this case, I'm sure we won't be harmed by it. - let me know.
\- Perfect. I want to avoid a bloodbath as much as possible, it's going to be problematic to disappear a lot of people at once, it could attract a lot of attention and that's not what I want. So the best thing is to throw some of them in jail and make it look like they've been betrayed by Josh and his family. That'll be fun to watch, I'm sure of it. Besides, since Anastasia is in jail, she can't do anything about it, nor can her supporters, who will have their hands full trying to get rid of their own skin. - I smile with satisfaction.
The communicator on Ward's belt makes a noise and we're notified that Josh is at the gate and demanding to go in. As if I'm going to let him set foot in here.
Idiot.
That gives me a good idea.
\- Tell him I allow him in and only him, no one else. - warning.
Ward relays the message and a long minute passes between protests from other people until he accepts and is led inside to my office, where Ward and I wait for him.
\- Sebastian. - He says hello and I wave back and gesture for him to sit down.
\- To what do I owe your visit? - I ask bluntly.
\- I'm here to talk about a few things. - he says.
\- I'm listening.
\- As you know, my sister, your stepmother is in jail because of an injustice, I also have complaints about my daughter's mental state after a brief visit to this house, she says it's your wife's fault. I'd like to know why you're allowing this? - you ask.
His tone of voice is indifferent, but his fists are clenched, which means he's furious about the situation, but he's powerless to do anything at the moment, as he's alone and unarmed.
\- First of all, Anastasia was arrested for trying to burn down this house, as you can see from the outside, it is under construction thanks to my beloved stepmother who seemed to have hidden intentions, since she won't allow power to remain in my wife's hands. Secondly, your daughter has come to this house with ulterior motives, she has arranged with my stepmother to disrupt my marriage and I won't allow anyone to do that, I'm in charge of my life and nobody else. As punishment, your daughter has been locked up in the basement for a few days, no more than that, as you have seen, she is not missing any part of her body, when she left here, there wasn't even a bruise on her skin, you can't say anything about that, since she was hurt. I was lenient enough to let her out alive and in one piece, thank me for that. - I finish.
My words leave Josh silent, but it's clear how angry he is about all this, no matter what he says, I won't allow him to make ridiculous demands about the latest events.
\- Anastasia was right, you're blinded by a woman. - he mutters.
It makes me laugh, but there's no humor in my voice.
\- She has no authority to speak of, everything she did was for power, did she even tell you that she had my in-laws' house blown up with them inside? I'm sure she didn't. She's crazier than anyone here and I'm honestly sick of it. - I grumble as I remember all the trouble Anastasia has caused me over the years.
That woman is unbearable.
Josh gets up and hits the table hard, his expression is full of barely contained rage and he can't control himself.
\- Sebastian, if you don't let my sister go, I'm going to have to take drastic measures. - he says.
That makes me laugh.
\- Oh really? What are you going to do? - I ask interested.
\- I'm warning you, Sebastian, if you don't let her go right now, there will be retaliation and blood. - he hisses.
Now yes, the moment I've been waiting for has arrived.
I got up from the chair and brought my face close to his, we were face to face, neither of us looking away.
\- Do it, I'm going to love every minute of it and in the end, I'm going to crush you like the cockroach you are, along with your sister. - I say back in the same tone.
He walks away immediately.
\- It won't stay like this, you'll all pay for this humiliation. - He points his finger.
\- Go and get your little soldiers, I dare you, if you've got the balls. But don't complain when I start the carnage, because I won't stop until there are none of them left. Go on, you craven idiot. - I tease openly.
\- You'll regret this. - he warns and rushes off.
\- Ward, tell everyone we're ready to start. Close all our businesses indefinitely, reinforce security and don't let anything strange through. They're going to try to take out our power first, so arm everyone with whatever they need and if they can't handle it, call for reinforcements immediately. - I order. This is the moment I've been waiting for and have worked so hard to prepare for, not only have I had to be patient, but I've also had to hurt my wife with lies and more lies, all for this moment, all the attacks, the information leaks, the fights and confusion, the attempts to poison me and my wife and that shot that almost killed me, I'm sure it was their doing too, I had to endure it all. It's time to charge them with interest for everything I've had to put up with.
Ward nods and leaves to make the call to alert everyone that the time has come.
