79- Strong argument
Rebeca
A few days have passed since the shock of knowing that I'm actually carrying a baby and that it won't be long in coming. For the millionth time, I caught myself looking at my belly in front of the mirror, I stroked my belly and what I felt was just a little lift, I can't even consider it that, since it looks the same as it always has.
I'm still confused as to where this baby is hiding and why my belly hasn't grown.
Sebastian's concern for me is enormous and now, I have to eat well and in a very healthy way, as Amelia said before, the baby needs to grow healthy and reach the ideal weight by the time of delivery and this mission, only I can accomplish.
I was eating some fruit when Sebastian showed up, he's been out more during the day, but he's always home at night. He says he's fine with the baby, but so far I'm still a bit scared that he might lie about it just so I won't be sad.
\- How are you feeling today? - he asks.
He's been asking me that a lot over the last few days and he always seems worried.
\- Well, you know I'd tell you if I felt anything wrong. - I gesture for him to sit next to me and he does so immediately, putting his arm around my shoulder and pulling me close to him.
\- Okay, I've got something for you. I've got something for you. - start.
I was curious and a little excited about this, I wasn't expecting a present now, but it's always nice to receive something from someone you love.
\- What is it? - I ask.
He pulls something out of his pocket and hands it to me. I take a brief look and see a one-way ticket out of the country. I immediately felt confused.
\- What's this? - I ask.
\- A ticket out of the country. I want you to get out of here, I don't want to involve you in the conflict that's about to start. - he says.
I felt a tightness in my chest. Does he really think I'm going to leave the country and leave everyone I love here because of a conflict between families? It seems he doesn't know me well enough yet, by now he should know that I'm not going to give up on anyone, let alone run away when everyone is risking their lives. I know very well that he cares about me and the child I'm carrying, but I'm not going to run away and wait for everything to be resolved, on the contrary, I'm going to help as best I can without putting the baby at risk.
\- No. - is all I say.
Sebastian holds the bridge of his nose. As if he had a headache or something.
\- Please, I can't let you take any risks by staying here. - he says.
\- No. I'm not going to leave here and let you take care of everything, I'll help in any way I can, I promise not to put myself in danger, but don't ask me to travel far away while I abandon you here. I'm not going to do that, besides, I'm more than capable of looking after myself, don't worry so much about me. - argument.
He doesn't seem to like my refusal at all.
\- I don't want you to put yourself at risk in any way. - he says.
I think he needs a reality check. This isn't how I'd like to talk about my feelings, I'd hoped for a better scenario, I really had, but he needs to understand me, he needs to know that I'm not going to walk away, no matter what he says or how much he insists, I'm not.
\- Sebastian, how would you feel if I sent you away at a critical moment like this? Even if it was for your own safety, would you just accept it? - I ask, wanting to hear his answer.
He ponders this for a moment and sighs.
\- No, just the thought of leaving her makes me crazy with worry, but I'm afraid it's too dangerous here. - try.
\- I don't care. You seem to have forgotten who I am, even though I'm pregnant, it doesn't affect my abilities at all. Besides, I love you and I'm not going to leave you because things are difficult. We'll get through this together. - I move closer and let our foreheads touch gently. He closes his eyes and sighs.
\- Say it again. - he asks.
I know what he's talking about and I repeat it with pleasure.
\- I love you and I won't leave you for anything. Anyone who dares to try anything will be ruined, after all, I'm the crazy woman who burned down her own house. - I joke.
Sebastian opens his eyes and I find myself plunged into their dark depths. His eyes are beautiful and anyone brave enough to look at him up close risks getting lost in his gaze.
\- I love you too, as I never thought I would love anyone in my entire life, a feeling full of intensity that drives me to conquer the world just to give you to me. All I want now is for the days of peace to come quickly and for you to always be safe with our son, and if that means going to war, I'll happily do it. Promise me that you'll be fine, whatever happens. - declare.
His confession leaves me ecstatic and what I thought I'd never hear come out of Sebastian's mouth is what I've now heard and it's the greatest gift I could ever receive. I'm very happy now, even with war imminent, nothing else matters in this little world we've built at the moment.
Unfortunately, our joy was short-lived, very short-lived. Walter rushed in just as we were about to kiss and snorted in embarrassment at the moment he had disturbed.
\- It had better be important. - Sebastian growls in annoyance.
\- About that, since Anastasia's family didn't manage to get her out of jail, they're coming here now, their people have also started to move. - he warns.
\- Oh, is that it? Then let's get started too. Release everything we have so far, the police will be working hard over the next few days. - Sebastian smiles.
\- As you wish. - Walter leaves immediately.
\- It looks like things are going to get lively now. What do you intend to do? - I ask curiously.
\- Well, I won't let them in, I don't trust Anastasia's brother, he's just as treacherous as his sister, besides, he's Hannah's father and he must hate us right now. - Say it.
\- What's his name again? - I ask because I don't remember hearing it at any time.
\- Josh Gaille. - he replies.
I search my memory and vaguely remember that name, he's as hateful a man as his sister and now I know why Hannah had such a bad personality too.
\- I see. I remember him. By the way, there's something I want to ask you. - I'll start. Sebastian has all his attention on me. - For now, don't do anything with Dante. - I ask.
\- Why not?
\- I had a brief chat with him before he left and I don't think he'll be a danger. I got the impression that he's not after power, but he can't go against his mother. If he doesn't take a stand on what's going on, will you consider letting him go? - I ask.
\- I don't feel comfortable listening to you intercede for Dante like this, you don't even like each other, why are you doing it for him? - you ask.
\- It's not because I like him, I just think he can do better without his mother's clutches on him all the time, maybe the best thing is for him to decide what he wants to do and if he wants to detach himself from all this, let him go and do what he wants, as long as it doesn't threaten our safety, it'll be fine. - argument.
I believe that Dante may have some hidden potential, but frankly, it seems that he can't show his true potential because of his mother's actions, who is always plotting for him to take over the family, when it's clear to everyone who is fit to do the best here. I believe his problem is Anastasia, the way she tried to control the situation when Sebastian was shot is proof that she only wants her son to assume power for some reason of superiority, when Sebastian's birthright is indisputable. He's the firstborn, the rightful heir and has all the necessary abilities, but she can't accept that and causes more and more problems because of this crazy idea. I'm sure Dante must have heard all his life that he should be the head of the family and at some point he started to believe it.
Sebastian thought about my argument and then nodded slowly.
\- I'll trust your judgment. - he says.
This makes me extremely happy and I couldn't feel happier. For some reason, I don't want Sebastian to kill Dante. I admit he's an asshole, but he's still the younger brother and I want to believe what I've argued myself. He can do better if he's away from Anastasia's influence, I'm sure of it.
\- You won't regret it. - I assure you.
