Chapter # 116
DENZEL’S POV:-
There was something wrong which I failed to pick. What was it? I had no idea but I knew I failed to apprehend something.
“What happened, Denzel?”
“I am having a bad feeling, Eliana, it feel restless, like something is extremely wrong,”
“Are you still doubting Armiz?” She frowned, not liking that he wanted to help us yet I was distrusting.
“No… I don’t know. Am I?” I paused, holding my sides.
She took a closer look at my face, studying it for a few seconds before placing her both hands over my shoulder and rubbing it gently.
“Are you worried about something? About us? Him? Kyle?”
“Something doesn’t fit right. Maybe I don’t want you guys to get hurt, maybe his escape or who did it,”
“Umm,” Matthew raised his hand in the air.
“Yeah, that must be it but don’t worry, we have everyone with us,”
“Papa, listen,” He called again when we didn’t respond.
“Yeah, what is it, Matthew?”
“Maybe it’s none,” He replied vaguely, baffling both of us.
Smiling faintly, Eliana patted his head to not interrupt us, “You are little, son, you don’t know anything-”
“If that bad guy Kyle left he must be there… to hurt you,”
He blurted out what I failed to catch perfectly.
“And maybe Uncle Armiz ‘and’ Uncle Lucas knew about it so they went there so you… won’t get hurt?”
Blinking, it took me a few moments to realize what he spoke and turned to Eliana.
“Are you sure, Eliana, this child right there is mine,”
“He is strong, he is smart, definitely yours,”
She smiled worriedly as I got up hastily when they both decided to keep me out of trouble but pushed themselves in it.
“Damn those two, they went without me! I am the strongest Alpha, how could they do this!?”
Scowling, I mindlessly ra after them for daring to fool me and being the fucking heroes and putting their lives in danger.
“How dare they trick me!?”
ARMIZ’S POV:-
“Are you sure about this?”
“Don’t take all the credit of a brother, let me do something too,” I chuckled slightly before lowering my gaze out of shame.
“After what happened, I doubt I could meet his eyes,”
He was not sure about this but if there was anything I could possibly do for Denzel, I would.
“It must have felt horrible to be hurt by the person you look up to,”
Never once he used harsh or painful statements on me, he knew the anguish of it but here I was, hitting him where it hurt the most.
“And after what I spoke and did, there is nothing I could do to fix our broken bond,” I whispered, hating myself.
I feel horrible now.
Unfortunately there was nothing left to fix that.
“Except for protecting him,”
The second we stopped near the secluded warehouse locked away in the forest, there was Kyle with his sister who got him out.
Melissa Hudson, his sister, always the clever and strong one. She didn’t live here and fooled us into believing she had no connection.
“My, my, saving your brother, hmm?” She laughed wickedly as the siblings transformed as well.
“Melissa,” I hissed.
Lucas asked, “Her name is Melissa too?”
“My ex-mate wasn’t the only she-wolf with that name,”
“Right,”
“If not Denzel then we will take his anger on you,” Kyle hissed, cracking his head to reveal his bloodlust.
“He had hurt me enough and now you will pay for it,”
“Like hell you can,”
We engaged in a fight, I was an Alpha too so I focused on Kyle but Melissa was one too and her movements were swifter.
She managed to hit me back and attacked Lucas’ leg too, the second his balance misplaced, Kyle jumped to bite down his neck.
“Fuck,”
They both were about to attack Lucas, taking the weak one first as the moment when Denzel hugged him flashed before my eyes.
Denzel trusted him blindly, he was too precious to him.
By all means, I couldn’t let Lucas die.
With a growl, to save him, I appeared before them when they attacked.
Biting my neck deeply stole my strength, severing a critical serve that made me fall on the ground.
“Armiz!”
“L-Lucas…”
“Why did you save me!?”
He was the brother I couldn’t become.
I merely smiled and groaned in pain, forcing myself to stand but Melissa tackled me, digging her claws on my wound.
Screaming from pain, I hardly managed to push her as Kyle took on Lucas and as a beta, he couldn’t fight someone on Kyle’s level.
Only Denzel was capable of battling max five Alpha on his own.
His powers were beastly.
Melissa got up and came to attack me, I managed to scratch her face which she regenerated instantly.
Feeling pleased to take advantage of my condition and bleeding state, she laughed mockingly.
“Goodbye, Alpha Armiz-”
Nor did I care about this worthless life anymore, a great deal of remorse had already weakened my body, my soul.
In fact, I didn’t want to fight so I didn’t bother to dodge either until-
“Like hell I will let you!”
Jumping, Melissa was about to end my breaths but abruptly Denzel appeared and threw her back, liberating a howl in the air.
“You…?”
“Asshole, you promised my kids to take them to the park. They are waiting for you,”
I chuckled a little at his silly words.
“I should have known when you said you wanted out of this, Melissa. Why do I always get in trouble with some damn Melissa?” He muttered under his breath.
Emerging the bloodlust that made everyone tremble flashed in his eyes when he saw me injured and Lucas lying unconscious with many wounds.
“You are so dead,”
“Like I will let you hurt my sister,”
“Shut up, dumbfuck, both of you combined are no match for me,”
And he was right, Denzel was known as a harbinger of demise for naught. He fought with both Alphas courageously.
Denzel fought with both of them on his own, hitting Melissa hard enough to throw her away before biting down Kyle’s leg.
“Ah!”
He yelled in pain, falling on the ground as he dug his claws harder into his skin, making him scream in pain.
He was about to kill Kyle.
I noticed Melissa held a dagger probably coated with poison in her mouth and sprinted to attack Denzel from behind while he was fighting Kyle.
Forcing my weak body to stand, I growled and came in between as the dagger pierced through my side and as I expected, it was poison.
“Denzel, watch out!”
Coughing up blood, I fell on my knees, earning a gasp from Denzel.
“Armiz!?”
At this point he lost his wrath and threw Melissa away, biting down her whole neck, killing her in one go before turning his attention back to Kyle who cowered.
“No…”
He attempted to run away but he grabbed that fallen dagger and slit his throat with it, killing him outrageously in one go.
But, his scowling faded, turning to me and rushing to my side.
“Armiz…”
“Denzel,”
“Asshole! What did you just do? Why?”
His tears, the hopeless etched on his features induce a prickling sensation. But, in a good way, to find worry in his heartless for me.
“I.. thought… I could.. Repent like this,”
I barely spoke due to the cut as my body turned cold and stiff, the poison was spreading rapidly yet I managed to smile.
I wanted to stay longer, to hope that I would attain forgiveness and watch his kids grow up at least.
I wanted to see my brother happy… the happiness I stole.
“Shut up! Who were you to decide that!? You can’t die like this, my brother,”
“Can you do.. One thing?”
“W-What?”
I ended up begging him, “Hug me, my brother, please, please, please-”
Without thinking twice, he embraced me, clutching onto my firmly before breaking into a painful sobbing, refusing to let me go.
The temporary contact provided me with serenity. Him hugging me vanquished my grief briefly and when the sound of his crying came.
My whole being was immobilized.
“Don’t leave me, Armiz. If you leave, who will I look up to?”
“Still do?”
“I never stopped,”
He sniffed, tears mixing with my blood as I smiled, snuggling to him, tears blurring my vision.
My heart was heavy, my chest constricted. I could never forget myself for what I did. My demise was full of regrets.
I could never forgive myself for what I did to him in a moment of wrath.
That’s what I believe until Denzel ended up wailing badly, unshackling the lock on his tongue.
“I never hated you, I was never angry, so please, please don’t hold these crushing feelings too, Armiz, you are my brother, I love you,”
For a heartbeat, I was taken aback but those words reached me as if it was the last thing required by my soul to leave my body.
With a smile appearing on my face, I caressed my brother for the last time as the evening of the genocide of our pack came to my mind.
We went to the cliff, saw the sunset, made a promise to be there for each other…
What a beautiful evening that was…
“I see… glad to hear it…”
And took my last breaths in his arms.
Praying the best for my brother and with relief that my brother never hated me else my soul would have suffered endlessly…
But, now, I was at peace because no problems were going to disturb him anymore.
My brother’s life had finally found redemption.
