66 - Do you know who I am?
66 - Do you know who I am?
“Wait, wait, what’s going on here?” Lily asked, acting as the protective and caring sister, but one of the two men smiled at Linda as he replied to Lily.
“She’s already aware of the arrangement between her and Mr. Winters.”
Lily was shocked that her sister did not inform her, meaning that Linda could still not trust her, which would cause her plans to fail.
Last week, her mother said that Mr. Winters was going to come visit during this weekend, and Lily wanted to be there to use her charm to get back what was meant to be hers, but who knew that things were going to take a different form?
Not just that, it was not easy convincing her boyfriend to travel for a while to enable her to execute this plan, but now, everything seems to have gone back to square one.
“Linda, do you know them?” Lily asked, pretending to care about the well-being of her sister. Linda smiled and responded to her.
“No, but I know Oliver. We arranged it so I will see you on Monday.”
She turned to leave when Lily grabbed her arm, wishing that the two men had not seen Linda already. Lily would have taken her place with the pretense of being Linda.
For the few days she spent with her sister, it was not hard to learn her soft and innocent mannerisms, but things had to turn out this way.
“What about the wedding preparations?” Lily asked after her when she saw the men open the car door for Linda. Gwen was just happy for her best friend and replied to Lily.
“Experts are handling the wedding, so what do you mean by wedding preparations?”
Lily’s teeth gritted together, feeling like she was losing control of her game. She hadn’t met Oliver in person but heard that he was just like his brother-in-law, meaning that Lily had to tread with caution.
It was almost midnight when Linda arrived in Spain and was received by Oliver himself, though tired-looking.
As soon as he laid eyes on her, their lips met without any words spoken. It was clear how the pair had missed each other.
The long passionate kiss lasted for almost five minutes before Oliver finally pulled away.
He missed her so much, and her kisses were just as addictive as she was. Oliver led her to the car waiting and drove to his penthouse as he chatted with her.
“How was your trip?”
Linda beamed, as she stole glances at him. He was so handsome that she knew she would never get tired of staring at him.
How did she get lucky that this man loved her so much? “Amazing. I was treated like a queen.”
“You are my queen,” Oliver smiled at her. Linda had to get used to those as Oliver planned to spoil her with all his love.
Linda could not get over all the love he showed her. This was spectacular, and she felt like her life was just beginning.
Though her parents were rich, she was never for once interested in luxury, but with Oliver, it was a must. Then she began to think about the gift she purchased for him, wondering if he would like it.
She bought it the day they went shopping but paid for it with all her savings, though it wasn’t as expensive as all the things he bought for her.
“Hungry? I can cook anything you want,” Oliver’s voice pulled her out of her thoughts, stunning her once more.
“You know how to cook?” It was unbelievable. Rich men could pay chefs to prepare anything they wanted, so why would Oliver know how to cook? He explained it to her.
“Yes. My brother-in-law, Nathan, trained me well.” Linda was nodding her head, having heard a lot about Nathan over the past few days Oliver forcefully made her activate the speaker when he spoke to her colleagues.
Nathan treated his wife like a queen, and she felt like Oliver was doing the same for her.
“My mom trained me well too, but I’m not hungry, and it’s late. You will go to work tomorrow, so why don’t you cook after you close from work tomorrow?” She suggested, Oliver did not refuse.
He missed her so much and could not wait for them to them home.
“That sounds like a great idea,” Oliver agreed, but she thought again and suggested. “Or, I can cook for you before you get back.”
A frown twisted Oliver’s face slightly as he addressed her words gently. “Get back? You are going to the office with me. I want you to know what I do,” he said seriously.
Just like his sister, Oliver saw Linda as a great asset because of how smart she was. If he does not harvest her skills early on, other companies might take her away from him by the time she graduates.
“What?” Linda was dumbfounded, not seeing herself qualified enough to work in such a multibillion-dollar company, NL Incorporated, but Oliver insisted.
“Yes. When you graduate from college, you will help me to manage NL Incorporated.”
“But…” She was about to argue when Oliver cut in, asking her.
“What are your plans for your future?”
Linda smiled. Her parents said her dreams were bigger than her, and Linda told her to keep dreaming.
She wondered if Oliver would also discourage her at this moment, knowing how timid she was. “Well, I want to become a financial analyst and consultant.”
“That position is indeed needed in our company too,” Oliver replied, impressed by her choice.
Linda realized how he already built his life around her, including adding her to all his plans.
Was he for real or was he toiling with her? “I will think about it.”
Oliver did not dwell on it since Linda was still in school, moving to the next topic on his plate.
“The planner sent me the wedding gown designs you chose, but I felt they were too cheap.”
Linda remembered that those gowns were all expensive, the cheapest being around two hundred thousand dollars, so she chose one of those.
Some were in millions, so how could she spend so much on a dress she was going to wear for just a day? “The others were too expensive,” she explained, but Oliver was not liking her ideology of money.
He was worth billions in net worth without the company, so what was the essence if he could not spoil his woman with his money?
Oliver stepped on the brake and pulled over to the side of the road as he held her gaze and asked her. “Do you know who I am?”
