Chapter 93

Angelina POV….

I was so excited and so scared as I walked into the gynecologist's office, feeling nervous but excited. I was finally going to my first prenatal appointment. I was so happy to hear about my baby.

I had been putting off making the appointment for a few weeks, but now I knew that she couldn't wait any longer. I was so busy with my new job and place that I was unable to schedule an appointment earlier, but now I had everything. I needed to make sure that my baby was healthy.

I checked in with the receptionist and then sat down in the waiting room. I was surrounded by other pregnant women, all of whom looked just as nervous as I was. Some were accompanied by some women, while some had their husbands beside them. I was alone. Ava insisted, but I couldn't drag her into my matters anymore.

A few minutes later, a nurse called my name. I stood up and followed the nurse into the examination room. I looked around anxiously.

The nurse checked my weight and blood pressure. Then she asked me a few questions about my medical history and my lifestyle. I answered her perfectly.

“How are you feeling?” the nurse asked.

“I'm feeling good,” I said. “I'm just a little nervous, sometimes I feel so emotional.”

“That's perfectly normal,” the nurse said. “This is a big change in your life.”

The nurse left the examination room, and I waited for the doctor.

A few minutes later, the doctor, Dr. Li, entered the room. Most people are Chinese here, but they are friendly and helpful.

“Hello, Angelina,” Dr. Li said. “It's a pleasure to meet you.”

“It's a pleasure to meet you too, Dr. Li,” I said.

Dr. Li asked me a few more questions about my medical history and my lifestyle, the same way the nurse did before the doctor. Then she performed a physical exam.

After the physical exam, Dr. Li invited me to ask her any questions if I had any queries regarding my pregnancy.

“How is my baby doing?” I asked.

“Your baby is doing great,” Dr. Li said. “You're healthy, and your baby is healthy. You just need to take care of yourself. “

I sighed with relief. I was so happy to hear that my baby was doing well.

“What should I be doing to stay healthy during my pregnancy?” I asked a basic question.

“You should eat a healthy diet, get regular exercise, and avoid smoking and drinking alcohol,” Dr. Li said. “You should also come in for regular prenatal appointments.”

“Okay,” I said. “I will.”

Dr. Li gave me a prescription for prenatal vitamins and told me to come back for my next appointment in four weeks.

I left the doctor's office feeling happy and relieved. I knew that we were in good hands and healthy. I placed my hand on my still-flat stomach.

I went to the medical store and purchased everything on the list because I would rather not come again and again for small things. I easily get tired.

I walked out of the hospital, my arms full of bags containing my medicine and some vitamins that are good for my health. I took a deep breath of the fresh air and smiled.

I had just had my maternal report, and I was happy about the report that my baby and I were both healthy. I couldn't wait to start my new life as a mother.

As I walked down the street, I thought about Lorenzo. I wondered what he would have thought of our baby. I knew that he would have been a great father. But now he was not here with me. He must be happy with Sophia now. But Lorenzo wasn't there, and it didn't matter anymore.

I sighed sadly. I knew that I had to move on without Lorenzo. I had to focus on my baby. I always wanted myself to remember that now I had to live without him.

I arrived at my small apartment and unlocked the door. I had purchased this apartment on a loan that I had borrowed from my company. I stepped inside and placed my bags on the floor. I looked around at my empty apartment and smiled. I had a lot of work to do, but I was excited to create a home for myself and my baby.

When I arrived here, I used to cry every night for Lorenzo, but Linda assured me that it would affect my baby. She helped me a lot in my depressed state.

I sat down on the couch and put my palm on my stomach, I rubbed it a little to give warmth to my baby. I looked down at my stomach and smiled.

“I love you,” I whispered to my stomach.

I leaned back my head on the couch and sighed. I knew that it was going to be a long and difficult journey raising my baby, but I was determined to be the best mother I could be, just like my mom. I was determined to give my baby a good life.

____________

The next day, Ava visited my apartment. She brought a bouquet and a bag of food. She was pleased. I was overwhelmed with her kind gesture.

“Hi,” Ava said as she walked into the apartment. “How are you?”

“I'm doing well,” I said. “Thanks for coming.”

Ava placed the flowers on the kitchen table and then turned to me.

“How are you and the baby?” Ava asked.

“We're both doing well,” I said. “We just got home from the hospital yesterday.”

“That's great,” Ava said. “I'm so happy for you.”

We sat down at the kitchen table and started talking. Ava asked me all about my pregnancy and my experience at the hospital. I told Ava everything. As it was my first time there, I had little information.

After a while, Ava said, “I brought lunch. Are you hungry?”

“Yes,” I said and nodded. “I'm starving.”

Ava opened the bag of food and took out two sandwiches, a bag of chips, and two apples. She handed one of each to me.

We ate our lunch and talked. I told Ava about my little plans for the future. I told her about how I wanted to raise my baby.

Ava listened patiently and offered her support. She told me that she was always there for me, no matter what. I was grateful to her.

After lunch, Ava helped me clean up. Then we sat down on the couch and talked for a while longer. She talked about her life. I asked about Linda and Charles.

Before Ava left, she said, “I'm so proud of you, Angelina. You're a strong woman, and you're going to be a great mother.” she said and smiled at me.

I smiled. “Thank you, Ava,” I said. “That means a lot.”

Ava went away, leaving me alone.

___________

After 6 months…

I was sitting on the couch, watching TV, when I felt a sudden gush of water between my legs. I looked down and saw that my water had broken. I realized that I was in fucking labor.

My heart started racing. I was scared, but I needed to stay calm. I had to call Ava.

I picked up my phone and called Ava. Ava answered on the first ring. She was always aware nowadays because of me.

“Angelina?” Ava said. “What's wrong?”

“My water broke,” I said. “I'm in labor.”

“Okay,” Ava said. “Calm down. I'm coming over.”

Ava arrived at my apartment a few minutes later. She was accompanied by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loman.

“How are you feeling?” Ava asked me.

“I'm scared,” I said. “But I'm okay, I don't have any pain.”

“Don't worry,” Ava said. “We're going to take care of you.”

Charles helped me into Ava's car, and Linda sat in the back seat with me. Ava drove to the hospital as quickly as she could.

When we arrived at the hospital, Ava and Charles helped me out of the car and into the emergency room. They rushed me inside.

A nurse came over to me and asked me a few questions. Then she led me to a room in the labor and delivery unit.

The nurse helped me onto a bed and then hooked me up to a monitor to check the baby's heart rate.

“The doctor will be here soon,” the nurse said.

I waited for the doctor, feeling nervous and excited. I was about to meet my baby.

My doctor arrived.

“How are you feeling?” Dr. Li asked Angelina.

“I'm nervous,” I said. “But I'm also excited.”

“That's perfectly normal,” Dr. Li said. “This is a big moment in your life.”

Dr. Li examined me and then told me that I was ready to start pushing.

I pushed for hours. It was the most difficult thing I had ever done in my life. But I didn't give up. No one was there to help me. I wanted to meet Lorenzo and my parents.

Finally, after hours of pushing, I gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

I held my baby in my arms and cried tears of joy. I couldn't believe that I was finally a mother.

“He is beautiful,” Ava said.

“He is,” I said. “He is perfect.”

My baby and I were wheeled to a room in the maternity ward. Ava, Mr. and Mrs. Loman stayed with me for the rest of the day.

I was so grateful for my friend and her family. I knew that I couldn't have done this without them.

I looked down at my baby sleeping in my arms and smiled. I was the happiest woman in the world.
